Pure Pool Review – The Most Realistic Pool Game Ever?

Pure Pool by devs VooFoo Studios and published by Ripstone Ltd is not a game about swimming, nor is it, thankfully, a water cleanliness simulator.  No, this is in fact a well-rounded pool game of the cue variety! Pure Pool - Pure Realism? Out now on all platforms, Pure Pool recently arrived for the Nintendo Switch and for this review I will be playing it on the Switch Lite.  If you have tried this game out, let us know what you think about it in the comments section below! Gameplay If you enjoy your games of pool down the pub or club with your friends, I won't lie they seem like a distant memory at the moment, then this is definitely the next best thing to busy yourself with.  VooFoo has seemingly released a pool game that is actually close to the real thing.  There are no silly po...

NBA 2K21 – Still the G.O.A.T.?

It's that time of year again when we are treated to the annual releases of the latest versions of the sports video games. Now in its 22nd year the NBA 2k series has long held the crown as the best video game version of Basketball having beaten off the competition from EA many years ago. This year's version NBA 2k21 comes out at what is a very unusual time for basketball and indeed sport in general. The 2019/2020 NBA season has only just finished (with the Lakers triumphant) with the playoffs being delayed from their usual spring slot and played in a secure bubble at Walt Disney World. Added to this is the looming release of the next-gen consoles and a next-gen version of NBA 2K21.  There are adverts all over the internet for the next-gen version telling us that it has been "rebuilt f...

Dirt 5 – Just Buy It Now!

Codemasters return to the mud, rain and snow in Dirt 5! However, don't be expecting a standard rally game. Dirt 5 shows us just how good and improved a game can get from the previous iteration. Reviewing this on the current PS4 Pro, but rest assured due to Codemasters allowing a free upgrade to the next generation of consoles, I will definitely be revisiting this to bring my next-gen thoughts on the game. Oh have I mentioned that Dirt 5 is awesome and you should go and buy it right now....no? Well, you really should! Gameplay So Dirt 5 returns to the more traditional style 0f Dirt gameplay, racing against other people on the track all at once, yes there are a couple of modes where it's just you on your own, but the majority of the time you will be trading paint with other AI controlle...

FIFA 21 – Well..Kind Of

Another year and another FIFA review over on Thumb Culture, this time we are looking at FIFA 21...obviously. So what does this years iteration bring to the game that meant the previous years just felt empty and stale? Well in all honesty not a lot. Jeez this is going to be a hard review to write. Gameplay FIFA 21 returns with the standard kind of thing you would expect from a football video game, updated team line ups, slightly improved graphics, a couple of new additions to old standing modes. Lets touch on them briefly. Pro Clubs (the game mode I tend to play most) has been given a small overhaul, you can now create tactics for the different defensive and attacking options. This is great if it wasn't for the sometimes god awful AI team mates that you play along side. The game...

WWE 2K Battlegrounds – Axe, Smash & Button Bash!

This year 2K are not bringing out their yearly iteration of the WWE franchise (might be for the better as last year was, not great shall we say) but have gone a similar route that they did with NBA 2K Playgrounds were they brought in an over the top street style basketball which was very well-received.
