EA Sports FC 26 PS5 Review

The nights are drawing in, the leaves are turning red, and Halloween is creeping closer, which can only mean one thing. EA Sports is back with the latest instalment of its 'kick the ball in the net' series; and especially for EA Sports FC 26, the stakes are higher than ever. Community frustration has reached boiling point, and this year could be make-or-break for the franchise. Every release brings the same question: “Should I wait for a sale?” With the last game hampered by clunky gameplay, poorly tuned mechanics, and an unforgiving Ultimate Team power curve, scepticism is understandable. EAFC 26 launched on 19th September 2025 for those who purchased the Ultimate Edition at £89.99, with the standard £69.99 version following on 26th September across PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xb...

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds – PS5 Review

The Sonic Racing series has always lived in the shadow (no pun intended) of its spiky mascot’s platforming roots, but over the years it has built a reputation for fast and chaotic fun. Recent entries tried new ideas, like vehicle transformations in All-Stars Racing Transformed or the team strategy in Team Sonic Racing. Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds takes these ideas further and adds its own twist: the ability to warp into different mini tracks in the middle of a race. Developed by Sonic Team, The game launched worldwide on 25th September 2025, costing around £54.99 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version coming soon. Players who bought the Deluxe Edition (£79.99) could play a few days early, starting 22nd September. So, does this new twist keep th...

Frostpunk 2 – PS5 Review

I was a big fan of Frostpunk when it released on consoles in 2019. Fast forward six years later, and console gamers finally get their hands on Frostpunk 2. Developer 11 bit studios first released their follow-up title in 2024 for PC (Thumb Culture even reviewed that version), garnering positive reviews across the board. But how does the console version fare? Is this city building, survival title a big improvement over the original game? Let's find out! Put a Jacket on; It's a Bit Nippy Outside! It may be worth noting that this is the first time I've played Frostpunk 2, so there won't be much comparison to the PC version. If you've got any thoughts or opinions on the original release, I'd love to hear them! Let me know in the comments below, but for now, it's on with the review! Game...

Gears of War: Reloaded – PS5 Review

The iconic alien horror shooter best known for its over-the-top gore, its unironic use of macho bravado, and its high-adrenaline action is back (once again). That's right this is a review of Gears of War: Reloaded. The Coalition, the Xbox Studios developers behind this gory chainsaw party, could have delivered just another lazy, half-hearted remastered game like we have unfortunately grown used to in recent years, looking at you The Last of Us. Instead, they have delivered a significant visual upgrade compared to its 2015 remastered Xbox version. Welcome to the War (again)! Nearly 20 years since its exclusive release on the Xbox 360, Gears of War has arrived on the PlayStation 5. The remastered game, rebranded as Gears of War: Reloaded, signifies the end of an era known as the console wa...

Maki’s Adventure – PS5 Review

Developed by ZoroArts and published by EastAsiaSoft, Maki's Adventure is a bite-sized platformer that blends classic side-scrolling action with clever mechanics and heartfelt design. It’s a short but engaging adventure that encourages exploration and experimentation, whether you’re dashing across islands or slicing through shadowy demons. With some ideas polished to perfection and others rough around the edges, you can’t help but root for the developer even more. Here at Thumb Culture we reviewed the PC Release; and now we return with a review for the PlayStation release. Maki's Adventure - Maki a big splash Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love the idea of shapeshifting into a shark mid-jump? We’re all in for that, and we’d love to hear about your favourite shapeshifting characters in the c...

Rally Arcade Classics – PS5 Review

If the sight of a Lancia Delta flying through the air, accompanied by yells of “over jump!”, provides a hit of nostalgia, then Rally Arcade Classics could be the game you’re waiting for. It’s a debut title from Netk2, a group of Barcelona-based devs who have been making games since the microcomputer days. It’s releasing on Steam, Nintendo Switch, and PS5. Today, we look at the PlayStation 5 version. Do You Rally Want To Hurt Me? As a big fan of arcade racers and dewy-eyed nostalgia, the prospect of scratching this 30-year itch was too much to resist. If you're a fan of the genre, please let me know which are your favourites in the comments! Can Netk2 recapture the magic of those 90s-era racers? Or will this one leave you upended in a swamp? Let’s find out! Gameplay Rally Arcade ...

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion – PS5 Review

Like any smart person who aims to try a new franchise, I jumped into the second entry rather than the first. So here we go with my thoughts on Daemon X Machina: Titan Scion, a new entry developed by Marvelous Inc, and brings it more fast-paced, mech piloting action. Take to the battlefield in your own fully customizable Arsenal mech, alone or with up to four friends. I'm playing the PS5 version, and if you aim to pick it up, then the base game costs £54.99 with two other editions available. Most importantly, there is a demo out so you play before you pay. Not everyone can just buy a game for full price. Some GIFs may contain flashing images. Time to prep your Arsenal! Daemon X Machina: Titan Scion begins with a cutscene giving a brief history of the game's world. Once done, we get to ...

Sengoku Dynasty – PS5 Review

Sengoku Dynasty started life in Early Access on Steam back in 2023. Thumb Culture even previewed it! Then — after a year of updates — the full game launched in November 2024. Now, developer Superkami have released their feudal Japan simulator for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Today we'll be reviewing the PlayStation 5 version. Current Steam user reviews cite some technical and performance issues, but will that be the case on Sony's hardware? Sengoku Dynasty is available from the PlayStation Store from the 21st August, priced at £24.99. I Studied the Blade… and the Axe… and the Hammer. Since I never played Sengoku Dynasty when it was in Early Access, nor its full PC release, this review won't be comparing the two. However, I'd love to hear your thoughts on how the game has imp...

Mafia: The Old Country – PS5 Review

The Mafia series has quietly built itself into one of gaming’s best crime sagas by rolling steadily through the decades. It kicked off in the 1930s, cruised through the ’40s and ’50s, then shook things up in the ’60s. Fans naturally expected the story to move forward. Instead, Hangar 13 drags us back to the roots with Mafia: The Old Country, a linear, story-driven trip to early 1900s Sicily. It launched worldwide on 15th August 2025 and is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This review covers the PS5 version, priced at around £54.99. So, does it sit solid like a family olive tree, or snap like a twig under a horse’s hoof? Miniere Alle Spalle, Mafia Davanti Mafia: The Old Country dives straight into the dirt. In 1904, young Enzo Favara escapes from the backbre...

My Friendly Neighborhood – Playstation Review

Did I pick up My Friendly Neighborhood because of it's art style? No. Was it because of the references and similar play style of Resident Evil? Also no. Well then it must have been because of Kyle's amazing review on the PC release which you can read here! Yeah... no. In all (embarrassing) honesty, I wanted to play this John Szymanski and Evan Szymanski's survival horror because it reminded me of that one episode of Angel where he was turned into a puppet. I'm not sure which kids would be entertained by sentient puppets but to each their own... After initially releasing on PC in July 2023, the puppets have made their way to the PlayStation Store this month. You can invite them into your library for £25.49! Let's take a look at what you'll experience shall we? Gameplay Imagine Resid...
