Cassette Beasts – PC Review

Originally announced in October 2021, today sees the release of the Creature Collector-JRPG Cassette Beasts, developed by UK-based Bytten Studio, and published by Sweden-based Raw Fury. Cassette Beasts is available today for Steam and Windows, and will be released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch in late Spring 2023. Today we will be looking at the PC version, which will cost £16.75/$19.99 or can be played via PC Game Pass and will require 2GB of space. Gotta Record 'em All? Now, if there is one thing I'm certain of, it's that this game will no doubt have "Pokémon clone" thrown around alongside it. And while yes, it is a creature-collecting, monster-battling, turn-based JRPG, I feel like calling it a Pokémon clone would be doing it a disservice. Of course, there...

Clive ‘N’ Wrench – Switch Review

There are few gaming genres more nostalgic and fondly remembered than 3D platformers. Games like Banjo-Kazooie, Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank were hits with the popular hero/sidekick or dynamic duo formula. To facilitate this, he has stolen Professor Nancy Merricarp’s time trav...

Bitmap Books The SNES Pixel Book Review

I should probably start by saying, I am not a book person. I don't have a collection, I have around 10 books in total and they are mainly fiction/non-fiction. However, for a long time now I have been perusing the virtual bookstores, more specifically gaming related books. Whether that be books around lore in the games we play, to books that put the visuals we all used to see on the screens over 20 years ago in print. Putting Your Memories In Print There has always been one place that comes to mind when thinking of these books. That place is non-other than Bitmap Books. The number of times I have visited their site or scrolled through their socials is uncountable. However, the looking is over and the owning is here - The SNES Pixel Book. Bitmap Books Most people who follow gaming, n...
