PIGFACE – PC Preview

While on Steam I was looking for a new FPS game, with some grungy visuals. And luckily I came across PIGFACE, published by DreadXP, and created by Titolovesyou, comes an ultra-violent shooter. Where we take down gangs, by any mean necessary. PIGFACE is currently in early access on Steam for £8.50, which is not that bad of a price. Murder has been served. Gameplay We play as a character, whose name I think is called Exit. Who awakes in an old rundown building with no recollection of why she is here. The player quickly finds out that a bomb has been surgically implanted into Exit's head. And must now fulfil missions for a secret team. After finish the tutorial the player is sent to an apartment where you can, take on missions, or change their appearance. So far there is not a lot in PIG...

Fallen Tear: The Ascension – Early Access Preview

If there's one genre of game that has a tonne of fantastic indie representation already, but I'm always willing to accept more of, it's Metroidvania. Enter Fallen Tear: The Ascension, a new and debut entry from a studio in the Philippines. Winter Crew Studios, a sub-company of publisher The CMD Studios, was spun-up in 2020 with the express purpose of creating Fallen Tear. They launched a crowd-funding effort on Kickstarter in 2024 and garnered the attention of over 3000 backers. Now, they are bringing the game to Early Access on Steam with the intention to use this period for balancing combat builds and in-game economies along side the games community of players. The Early Access build represents a small portion of the beginning section of the game, and I've spent about a dozen hours tr...

Rogue Point – PC Early Access Preview

Rogue Point is a new tactical roguelite FPS from the creators of Black Mesa, Crowbar Collective. With publishing by Team17 (a lot of games), this solo or co-op experience is available now in Early Access. You can pick it up only on Steam. Go Roguelite on that FPS Rogue Point certainly gives off a unique vibe. A cross between a tactical FPS and a roguelite was enough to interest me. But can it hit the best points of each genre? Find out in this early access look below. Gameplay A co-op, tactical roguelite FPS is the best way I can categorize Rogue Point. It combines aspects from several genres and blends them nicely into a stand-out product. With up to 3 others, start up a campaign, select your loadout and drop into various different missions against a band of thugs for hire. Rog...

Cyber Farmer – PC Preview

Cyber Farmer, is a new sim being released by FreeMind S.A. and takes us to a post-apocalyptic world. Where we must attempt to bring life back to the wasteland. It is entering its early access life cycle on Steam now. If you are interested in other sim games, then might I suggest checking out some of our other reviews? Would you like some digitally enhanced lemons? Gameplay We do get a little bit of a set-up for Cyber Farmer's story. The Earth has become a wasteland, thanks to nuclear fallout. Luckily our character, Kaizmer, survived and has been fortunate to inherit his late grandfathers old farm. Why is it always a grandfather? So, we are now tasked with attempting to restoring the Earth to sustain life once again. The tutorial gives you a janky, but simple rundown of the mech...

Horizon Journey – PC Early Access Preview

Horizon Journey is a mars colonization survival simulator. It is being developed and published by Redivided Studios (Survive The Hill) and is now available in Early Access. You can pick it up only on Steam. Mars on the Horizon With my recent time in StarRupture, I was looking forward to checking out another exploration type simulator. Horizon Journey looked like it would be a fun one, with less focus on harvesting for profits. Games come to Early Access in all states though. Check out my thoughts on the current state of this one below. Gameplay Horizon Journey is a simulation sandbox game set on Mars during the colonization period. A few pre-existing structures are strewn about, but for the most part you're on an empty slate. The objective is as clear as with any survival game - ga...

Master of Piece – PC Early Access Preview

There is a thrill in Master of Piece when pieces slide neatly across the board, and a fight that looked unwinnable quietly collapses in your favour. Master of Piece, developed and published by I M GAME and I M fine, clearly understands their blend of deck-builder, rogulite and pieces. On Steam via Early Access, it presents itself as a deceptively approachable roguelite, swapping decks of cards for mercenary pieces. On the surface, its rules are straightforward enough to feel welcoming. Underneath, however, it hides a surprising amount of rigidity. Where small decisions are permanent, and misjudgements linger far longer than you might expect. Currently, Master of Piece wants to be fast, readable, and endlessly replayable. Still, it expects you to accept friction as part of the deal; whether...

Ghost Keeper – PC Preview

I did not expect to be checking out a true "spiritual" successor to the classic game Ghost Master. Although it is not made by the same team, you are able to see the clear inspiration used for the game. I mainly played Ghost Master on PS2, but always wished for another title. So I am happy to see that Ghost Keeper will be making that happen. It is out in early access now on Steam for £10.99, which is rather cheap! There is also a demo available as well. Things that go bump in the night. Gameplay There is not a main story so far in Ghost Keeper, but the level objectives are the same. Kill or scare, all present mortals with a team of ghosts. Each ghost gets their own unique skills, while also sharing some universal ones. Universal skill they tend to share, are telekineses and breakdown, ...

After the Wane Demo

After the Wane is an interactive visual novel developed and published by indie company Nova-Box (Along the Edge, Seers Tale). It tells the story of Lena, a ballerina graduate keen to make in the city (strongly implied to be Paris). Like many young adults looking to break into the arts, Lena struggles to break into the industry and begins finding herself. Guided by a mysterious voice only she can hear, Lena forges her path as a dancer and life in general. But perhaps it isn't Lena choosing the path as bizarre events start to occur and her absentee mother's past a dancer may play a part too. The demo ends part way through act 1 with the conclusion of the audition but I'm excited to see where Lena's story goes next. After the Wane has no release date but hopefully in 2026 on PC and Switch....

Bladesong – PC Preview

If you have been living under a rock, then you might have missed this one. Viral hit game by Mythwright, giving you the opportunity to craft swords of your own creation. Bladesong is a game that I've been personally keeping an eye on for quite some time. So when given the opportunity to cover the Early Access build, I couldn't wait! Don't Hold The Pointy End Now you might think that Bladesong is a pretty shallow game. You would be massively wrong. This game has so much below the surface, so sit back and let's find out what you are up against. Gameplay While you may think that Bladesong is just a run-of-the-mill shop simulator, you'd be semi-right. In essence, you are the Swordsmith of Eren Keep, taking orders for new blades as well as requests to repair others. Making sure you craft th...

Obsidian Moon is an upcoming text-based detective adventure-simulator, developed and published by Lost Cabinet Games. While no release date is set yet, this demo is available on Steam right now! Take on the role of Sam Carter, a once-respected homicide detective, tasked with solving a series of interconnected murders. Follow leads, interrogate suspects, and get closer to the truth. Desk Clutter Sim Been a while since I last dipped my feet into the detective sim genre! Can't wait to see what this game has to offer. Gameplay While this demo is rather short, it still gives you a great first look at the overall gameplay loop. Starting off with a brief tutorial to cover the basics before you can jump into your first proper case. Your main workspace is your desk, cluttered with files ...
