Timothy’s Night Review

Welcome to my review of Timothy's Night on the PlayStation 5. Wild Sphere Games both developed and self-published this game. We play as an oddball gangster known as Timothy, who must save his city named Little Fish City from an alien invasion. The game is of the third-person perspective and is an open-world shooter with similar traits to games like Grand Theft Auto, Mafia, and Saints Row. The game is available now on PlayStation 5. Timothy's Night Isn't Your Typical Mafia Shooter Fun fact about this game, this is actually an expanded version of Timothy vs the Aliens which was on the PlayStation 4. So will Timothy have a good night in my review? Or should he have had an early night watching the telly? Continue reading to find out. You can check out my previous review here where I played t...

Mad Streets Review

Developed and Published by Craftshop Arts Inc. Mad Streets is a physics-based action beat'em up. Following the craze of other crazy games like Surgeon Simulator or Goat Simulator. Mad Streets takes it to the fighting genre. So let's bash in some people in this Mad Streets Xbox One Review. Mad Streets - This Hurts On So Many Levels I have never been a fan of the games with crazy physics. I just never got the appeal. But I am a huge fighting and beat-em-up fan so naturally, I had to give this one a go. As usual, if you enjoyed this review then why not check out my latest one here. You can also catch up with what the rest of the Thumb Culture team are up to on our social media. Gameplay What can I say about this game that will give it any glimmer of hope? The fact is that I can't. It ...

Deadly Days Review

Deadly Days has now launched on consoles following arriving on Steam towards the end of 2019. Developed by Pixel Split and published by Assemble Entertainment comes this Retro-inspired Zombie title. In Deadly Days Never Trust a MKing Burger For those that are unaware Deadly Days is a semi Strategic and Semi Roguelike Zombie game. The difference with this one is you actually get an explanation as to why the outbreak started. Gameplay The opening to the game gives you the background as to what has happened. Famous burger chain MKing has released a brand new burger, containing a secret "addictive" ingredient (with a view obviously to increase sales and profits - as with most evil cooperations) The side effect of this addictive ingredient is that it makes it really...REALLY addictive. S...

KUR Review

Welcome to my review of KUR. Brought to us by developers Really Ragdoll and publishers The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild (Tumblestone, Space Otter Charlie), KUR is a first-person shooter game that is based upon classic games of the genre such as Doom and Quake. KUR is available on PC now. KUR - Some Things Should Stay In The Past We play as a gun for hire, brought in to take down an AI created by "The Augmented Intelligence Corporation". It's our job to bail out The AIC and take down a horde of flesh-wearing robots with no aim other than to end our life. Will KUR keep me on the edge of my seat? Or will I be wishing that I should have stuck to modern shooters? Find out below. If you enjoy this review, check out my previous review here where I played Zool Redimensioned. Gameplay When sta...

Foreclosed PS5 Review

Foreclosed is a cyberpunk action shooter with RPG elements experienced in graphic novel panels and stylised graphics. The title refers to when people are property and upon a company going under, their identity is being auctioned off. We begin with the protagonist, Evan Kapnos, being foreclosed and suddenly forced on the run. Kapnos is smack dab in the middle of a conspiracy and the only way to survive is with some help from allies is get to the person at the top and make them a counteroffer. Foreclosed is brought to us by Italian indie developers Antab Studio (Gridd series) and publishers Merge Games (Ultimate Chicken Horse). Glitchpunk Early Access Review

Welcome to my review of one of the latest games to hit Steam Early Access, Glitchpunk. It is brought to us by developers Dark Lord and publishers Daedalic Entertainment (Deponia, Unrailed!, State of Mind). The game is a top-down shooter/fighter akin to classics such as GTA 2 on the PlayStation. You play as an android bounty hunter earning a few bucks from doing missions for gangs just to get by. Glitchpunk Takes Me Back To Those Classics Whilst Glitchpunk certainly has a classic top-down vibe to it, can it really keep you entertained long enough to want you coming back for more? Let's find out in my early access review. Check out my previous review here if you like this one. Gameplay Glitchpunk starts us off with a basic choice, which city to start on. This choice is very limited to on...

Seed of Life Review

Seed of Life, developed by MadLight studio and published by Leonardo Interactive, became available for purchase through Steam on Wednesday, August 11th, 2021. Though Wednesday releases aren't common, this game is fairly unique as well. Seed of Life is an action-adventure puzzle game that will have you asking how much it takes to save a planet. MadLight studio, a small indie developer from Spain, sets up Seed of Life to be a visually pleasing and emotional journey. Sometimes the Hardest Puzzles to Solve are the Easiest in Seed of Life Over my thirty-some years of gaming, I can't say puzzle games fall high up in my library. The two main ones that stand out in my mind are Portal and Portal 2. Both felt mostly like puzzle games with a bit of story. However, Seed of Life is much more of a...

Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX+ Review

Can you believe that after 34 years Taito is still involved in making (or remaking) Darius games? How have they stood the test of time? What is it about Darius that keeps us coming back for more? Akin to its shmup brethren, R-Type and Raiden who are still going, it boils down to one thing. Replayability! More on that later. Let's talk about where Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX+ came from. Dariusburst was originally a PSP game released in 2009. A year later Dariusburst Another Chronicle was released into arcades with an update the following year called Dariusburst Another Chronicle EX. What we are looking at today is an enhanced port of the latter. What I have always loved about the Darius series, their unique selling point is their arcade cabinets. Just look at the beauty of it! Havin...

Stride Review

Stride, developed and published by Joy Way, is a single-player VR parkour game that features a combat element to it.  Out now on Oculus Quest 2, PCVR and Vive with PSVR coming at a later date, it is touted as a "high-octane parkour adventure in virtual reality" Stride, One hell of a way to keep fit! I'm not the best at motion games however on the Oculus Quest 2, Stride is listed as "Comfortable".  Let's take this for a test!  If you are playing this version or any of the early access versions, let us know what you think of it in the comments below! Gameplay When I think of parkour games, Mirror's Edge immediately comes to mind.  Running, jumping, sliding, grappling and firing a gun nicely sums up Stride however there are a few more mechanics at work thanks to the wonderful Oculus Q...
