PC Building Simulator PS4 Review – PC’s for Dummies?

PC Building Simulator is the latest release from Claudiu Kiss & The Irregular Corporation and is the newest of the ‘Sim’ style games to make its way to the PS4 after Car Mechanic Simulator came out in June. At first glance, I was a little confused why a PC Building Sim would come to PS4, as it just feels like something PC gamers would be the market aim for such a title. I briefly had a try of the PC release that came out last year and had a bit of fun so I’m hoping the PS4 version doesn’t reduce the spec on me (or if so, then not by too much). Gameplay As the title suggests, the main aim here is to build and repair PCs. You have taken over a PC repair shop from your Uncle who has moved on to bigger and better things (or at least ‘things’ somewhere else). Customers will email th...

WRC 8 PS4 Review – On The Right Track

WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship is an officially licensed rally game developed by Kylotonn and published by Bigben Interactive. You can strap in and experience the simulator on PS4, Xbox One and PC September 5th and it will be released on the Switch in October. WRC 8 is not just a re-skin of WRC 7, Kylotonn has listened to fan concerns and addressed these in the latest iteration of the game. One of the stand-out improvements is the career mode, which has an almost overwhelming level of depth. Taking inspiration from other popular sports titles such as FIFA’s Ultimate Team, the game uses a card-based system for crew management. This, along with leveling up your R&D team, managing season long and short term objectives really puts you in the role of a manager rather than just a driv...

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II PS4 Review – JRPG Heaven

Remastered games have become more popular & frequent over the last couple of years, so it’s hardly surprising that one of the most popular PS3 / PS vita JRPGs has joined the club. Nihon Falcom did this by bringing their Legend of Heroes series to us on the PS4. Now they have added the 2nd part of the story to this gen in Trails of Cold Steel II. This is a perfectly timed release as Trails of Cold Steel III is due to make an appearance later this year. Being completely honest and upfront, when asked to do this review I had no prior experience of this franchise, in any format. So, to try and ensure my review wasn’t biased by a lack of knowledge on my part I did a little light reading up on the first title, just to make sure I had an idea of the story before getting stuck in. In the...

I’m Hungry PS4 VR Review

I’m Hungry VR is the latest release from Winking Corp and was served upon Playstation VR on 8th July 2019. It vaguely resembles a first-person, VR version of Overcooked, with your task being to step into the grease-spattered shoes of an over-worked burger stand jockey and makeup food orders for a never-ending queue of wacky characters. Gameplay I'm Hungry VR follows a level-based format. Upon loading up the first level you'll find the tools used to prepare the various calorific nightmares on the menu line the cramped confines of your kiosk, with an ice cream machine, trays containing burger components, a soda dispenser and a chip fryer all within arm's reach. Preparing each item involves a couple of steps, requiring you to hit buttons, pull levers and wait for timers to expire. There ...

Pool Nation PS4 Review – No Drinks On The Table Please

Pool Nation by Manchester-based devs Cherry Pop Games and published by Wired Productions is a photo-realistic billiards simulator where you have the chance to start a single-player career, beat your friends in a one on one while sitting on the couch as well as play against online buddies around the world.  In what is, in essence, an overhauled version of the PS3 classic from years gone by with added features, will Pool Nation have you reaching for the chalk or leaving the pub early? Gameplay Pool Nation brings to the table a vast variety of game modes to test your cue wielding ways.  I do enjoy a good billiard game albeit 8ball or 9ball as it is one of the few games in real-life that I play better after a beer (drink responsibly!).  So what do you have on offer in Pool Nation? Wel...

FIA European Truck Racing Championship PS4 Review – Precision Heavy Metal

FIA European Truck Racing Championship (ETRC) is available for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Windows PC and on Playstation 4 which will be my test circuit. BigBen Interactive are the publishers for this game, they certainly don't need any introduction unless you've been hiding under a rock. N-Racing has been developing racing games for some time now, although mainly arcade-style racers to my knowledge. Gameplay FIA European Truck Racing Championship is a mouthful so from here on I will refer to it as ETRC. This was a new one for me. Truck racing is one thing I've never had a lot of experience with. I know it exists but I'm more used to hypercars or F1 cars zipping around a track. ETRC is something I am quite intrigued about. Eagerly I hit the options button to get straight into the acti...

Car Mechanic Simulator PS4 Review – Time To Appreciate Your Mechanic

I do love to play around with cars in my spare time, usually fixing my own as I can't afford garage rates.  Under the watchful eye of my father in law, who is a mechanic, I have successfully taken parts off my car and replaced them.  It was a refreshing change to take a look at Car Mechanic Simulator by Red Dot Games on the PS4 as it meant that I wouldn't be scraping grease and oil off my hands afterwards! Gameplay I reckon that most people have seen or at least know of Car Mechanic Simulator as it has been around for a few years now.  For those of you not in the know, the game comprises of you running a garage whereby you repair cars and try and make some profit while upgrading your tools and abilities to take on tougher challenges.  Unlike Stu who reviewed the Nintendo Switch versi...

Redeemer: Enhanced Edition PS4 Review – Hotline of War

Back when this game originally released, one of the developers over at Sobaka Studio described the game as a mixture of Hotline Miami and God of War. It was a very bold claim with both of the series the developer compared his game to being absolute juggernauts in the gaming industry. Whilst those claims are quite exaggerated, I can definitely see where the developer was coming from and now that Redeemer: Enhanced Edition is gracing consoles, it's time to take a look back at the game to see what improvements have been made. Gameplay In the game you play as Visily, a soldier turned monk who is just trying to live out his remaining years in a mountaintop temple. When his past catches up with him, all Hell breaks loose, leading to the capture of his monk brothers and the destruction of the m...

Judgment PS4 Review – Fists of Justice?

Judgment is the latest release from Ryu ga Gotoku Studios & Sega, the teams that created the well-loved Yakuza series. Judgment is being called the spiritual successor to Yakuza as its set in the same fictional Japanese Red-Light District of Kamurocho. But, it's set after the conclusion of the Kiryu Saga. As a fan of the Yakuza series, I was both excited and a little nervous about getting my hands on Judgment and seeing what might be contained within… Gameplay Players take on the role of former Lawyer turned Detective Takayuki Yagami. Weighed down by the knowledge that he was responsible for the acquittal of a Murder suspect who then killed his own girlfriend. Yagami is entangled in a case where his former employer is defending a Yakuza charged with murder and thus our story un...

Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled PS4 Review – Woobeega!

Well, it is finally here! after all the hype and excitement I finally got hold of a copy of Activision's Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled (referred to herein as CTRNF.) Having not played it for many many years since its original form on the PS1, it is scary to think that when CTR originally came out I was 19, young, free and playing the field, with no real responsibilities, and here I am age 38 with a wife, mortgage and 4 kids, how times change!  The Crash Bandicoot franchise seems very much alive since the successful launch of the N'sane Trilogy, how will this blend of Crash Team Racing, Crash Nitro Kart and Crash Tag Team Racing work out?  Will dev Beenox be able to resurrect the nostalgia? Gameplay Ok, let's cut to the chase.  The real reason you are probably reading this is to see ...
