Bow to Blood PS4 Review – A Politically Focused Battle Royale

Battle Royale is the phrase that is on most gamer's lips these days. Last year we got games like Fortnite, Player Unknown's Battlegrounds, and more recently Apex Legends, absolutely dominating gaming conversation, yet all of them play the same way with minor tweaks to each game's specific mechanics to set themselves apart. None of them is trying to innovate with each of them pinching ideas from the other. Bow to Blood by developer Tribetoy however, takes the genre and gives it a more Hunger Games feel, having you pitted against only seven other contestants in an almost politically focused battle of attrition. Gameplay You play as The Freelancer, a new contestant to the tournament and you'll need to make it to the top in order to survive. Kind of like a morbid TV show, Bow to Blood has yo...

World Of Warships Legends PS4 Review – Hey You Sank My Battleship!

Ahoy there land-lubbers!  Come take to the seas with me as I explore the mmo that is World of Warships Legends by devs Wargaming.  Having originally been released on PC back in 2015 it is finally out on Xbox1 and PS4, and better still it is free to download and play! Gameplay Anyone here who has played World of Tanks will roughly know what to expect with World of Warships Legends as the systems they use are very similar, however, when it comes to tactics it is very different to play. The main menu lets you either play a match either against bots or humans; check out your ships as well as browse and unlock new ones.  You can undertake a campaign to receive additional rewards and finally, there is the store where they are hoping you will make deposits of gold in order to quickly fac...

Dick Wilde 2 PSVR Review – Darn Varmint

Dick Wilde 2 was developed by Bolverk Games and is published by Playstack. Currently, you can pick up this title for PSVR, Oculus and Vive. Today my review of Dick Wilde 2 will be based on my PSVR experience. Gameplay First thing you will notice about Dick Wilde 2 is the graphics. The cartoon style is straight out of a Yosemite Sam cartoon. Normally this style will put me off but here it works. It's a simplistic format for Dick Wilde 2. There are 4 keys to collect per level and the more keys you collect the more levels you unlock. As you float on down the river or in some cases the sewer systems on your raft, you will get attacked by various animals and vermin. Ranging from birds trying to carpet bomb you with poop, to fish jumping out the water to eat your face off, and what I...

Snooker Nation Championship PS4 Review

After 2 weeks of Snooker on our Televisions we reach the epic conclusion of another World Championship, this left a question in my mind as it does every year: What am I going to do when it's finished? Cherry Pop Games have brought us Snooker Nation Championship to try and fill this void. The question is will it live up the expectation or will crumble under the pressure of the gaming Crucible? Gameplay Snooker Nation Championship is a fairly bare-bones version of a snooker game when compared with other releases both past and present, that’s not to say it isn’t a good or fun game. There are 3 main modes of play, Championship, Online and Versus mode. All of which are similar, but then again this is snooker so how much different should they be? On top of this, you have a practice mode,...

Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid PS4 Review – Mighty Morphin’ Fisticuffin’

Allow me to preface this review by saying I am a big fan of fighting games.  A night of fisticuffs with friends is easily the best reason for leaving the comfort of my own home. Presented with an opportunity to try out a new fighting game featuring Power Rangers, I was quite excited about it. Developed and published by nWay Games in San Francisco Power Rangers: Battle for The Grid is a team fighter similar to Marvel Vs. Capcom. It came out on the Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on March 26, 2019, and the PlayStation 4 shortly after on the 2nd of April. This review will be on the Playstation 4 version of the game.  Gameplay Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is a 3v3 team fighting game. You pick from a small cast of characters across all of the Power Rangers series to form your team to fig...

Snooker 19 PS4 Review – Pot as Many Balls as you Can!

It’s been 8 years since the last ‘official’ snooker game crossed our tables with WSC 11. While it wasn’t perfect, it was a decent enough game. Given the amount of time that has passed, the announcement of Snooker 19 was met with a lot of expectations and excitement among fans of the green baize. As someone who has been a huge snooker fan for over 25 years and has played almost every snooker game since the Commodore 64. I have been counting the days for this game since it was first announced, and there is a simple reason why… Lab42 have worked alongside World Snooker to bring us what could be the most complete entry ever seen, the top 128 players all included, all the official tournaments and venues from the circuit as well as the first appearance of Jimmy White in an ‘official’ snook...

Shadowgate PS4 Review – A Modern Day Text based Adventure

I’m sure any of the older gamers amongst us will know Shadowgate from the original iteration back on the NES. Well, Zojoi Studios have updated the classic text-based/point & click RPG for modern day gaming. Being completely honest, this one completely flew under my radar and the first I heard of it coming to PS4 was when it appeared for us to review it. Classic text-based games such as Zork were a big part of my childhood, along with the old choose your own adventure books (for any of you that remember those). So I was more than happy to jump on board and do the review (even though I didn’t play the original on the NES). Does Shadowgate do justice to the 80’s classics? Are text-based games still relevant in a gaming world that contains big open world RPGs like Skyrim and The Witc...

Vaporum PS4 Review – A Chip Off The Old Dungeon Crawler Block

Vaporum, by developer Fatbot Games and published by Merge Games, is a steampunk dungeon crawler with a simple movement concept that takes you right back to the original style first conceived in the 1988 epic Dungeon Master by FTL Games. Available originally on PC and Mac, the transition to consoles has taken nearly 2 years, however, it is finally here for Xbox One and PS4 on April 10th and Nintendo Switch the following day. Are you ready to confront fear and the ensuing perils? Enter, stranger... Gameplay Stranded in the middle of the sea on a small island you have no choice but to enter an odd, and out of place, gigantic mechanical tower.  At first it appears all new to you, however, the place around you starts to get awfully familiar. The Walking Vegetables Radical Edition PS4 Review – Beat Your Vegetables

Hate vegetables? rather smash one up than devour it? The Walking Vegetables Radical Edition may be right down your street. Brought to you by publisher Merge Games Limited and  devs Still Running, The Walking Vegetables is an action-packed game available on PC, Nintendo switch, Xbox One and PS4 Gameplay You're a beat cop style guy who looks very much like Walter White with a DeLorean (every guy in the '80s had them right ?)  yet you're less law-breaking and more helping the city and trying to not get mauled by giant mutated vegetables, The main aim of the game is to go through the levels to free the city from them. Using either sofa co-op (or if you're a lone ranger like myself) head out and beat the baddies solo. Multiple enemies cross your path, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes and many ...
