Before We Leave Review

Before We Leave is a city building game set in a remote corner of the universe. Developed by Balancing Monkey Games and published by Team17, it sees you rebuild your civilisation and settle on new lands, with the goal to leave one planet and travel to the next whilst avoiding the mythical hungry Space Whales! Skies the limit! As a fan of the original Age of Empires games, I was keen to get stuck into this twist on the genre. Check out what I thought of Before We Leave below, and follow it up by reading some of the TC Crew's previous Xbox game reviews here. Gameplay Before We Leave is a non-violent settle game, where you build cities on various planets across the universe, with the main goal to build successful and safe settlements for the Peeps, the in-game inhabitants of the unive...

Fortnite – Todays Forecast Says

In the Chapter 3 trailer, Fortnite teased players with large tornadoes and lightening storms across the map. Now, after a couple of minor hotfixes, they have been released onto the Chapter 3 island, making full use of the Unreal Engine 5, to cause mayhem, destruction and potentially assist you in your quest for a Victory Crown.     Don't Run! In most games, at the first sign of a massive tornado or lightening storm heading towards, your instinct would be to run in the opposite direction. However, what Fortnite have cleverly done is given these weather elements features that can assist your gameplay. Tornadoes will pick you up and spin you around until you either glide out, or get hurled out (no fall damage!) a great way to escape a fire fight or quickly move aro...

Warzone: Ricochet Anti-Cheat goes global

The Warzone: Ricochet Anti-Cheat has finally gone live globally this week, hopefully signalling the end of the hackers and cheats that have blighted Warzone over the last few years.   Included within a 20GB Warzone update, the kernel level driver was tested in the Asia-Pacific area to begin with to help identify how current hackers were manipulating the game. Will it stop the cheaters? Quite simply no. Just because we now have a kernel level anti-cheat doesn't mean we will no longer see cheating within the game. What will begin now is a game of cat and mouse, between Ricochet and the hackers, to exploit gaps in the driver and then fix those gaps quickly. Kernel level drivers aren't a catch-all device so we won't see players being banned immediately. What we will ...

Fortnite Chapter 3 Flips In

Fortnite Chapter 3 dropped over the weekend with a mass live event bringing to an end Chapter 2. A very quick summary of the live event goes as follows: The Cube Queen attempted to end the Last Reality, but thankfully The Foundation (aka The Rock) appeared and along with Jonesy helped to defeat both the Cube Queen, her minions, and UFOs by effectively flipping the Fortnite map 180 degrees. After a bit of server downtime, Chapter 3 was finally available to the public and taking full advantage of its migration to Unreal Engine 5. The move to Unreal Engine 5 has allowed Epic to not only up the visuals but also bring more mechanics into the game. Just Flip It As with all new Chapters and Seasons in Fortnite players are keen to see what changes have been made to the map. Chapter 3 do...

BPM: Bullets Per Minute Review

Bullets Per Minute (BPM) is a 90s inspired dungeon game developed by Awe Interactive and published by Playtonic Friends. Initially released in September 2020, we take a look at the latest release for Xbox. Bullets Per Minute - "Live Fast, Die Fast!" With the main gist of the game to shoot down the hordes of demons in time with the music, we thought it best to hand it over to our in-house drummer to see what he made of it. Gameplay At its heart Bullets Per Minute is a Doom-inspired FPS rhythm game. Everything you do as a player must be in time with the music; shooting, jumping, reloading you fail to do this and your gun will jam and the hordes of demons will quickly strike you down - they also attack to the rhythm. I'll admit it took quite a long time to get used to the movement ...
