Heave Ho Switch Review – The King of the Swingers

Heave Ho was developed by Le Cartel Studio, who were previously responsible for side-scrolling beat-em-up Mother Russia Bleeds. It is the latest in a long stream of quality titles which have been flung Switch-wards by publisher Devolver Digital. Heave Ho will release on August 29th 2019 at £8.99 (although, psst, if you pre-order it you can enjoy a 10% discount). In Heave Ho you play as a ball with two long arms whose only ambition is to use its preternatural grip and strength to clamber and catapult its body across a series of 2D obstacle courses in order to reach a chequered flag. Heave Ho can be played by up to four people simultaneously, which is where the insanity reaches a peak. Gameplay The controls for Heave Ho are very simple. The left stick dictates the orientation of the...

Diesel Brothers Truck Building Simulator PC Review – Look Mom, I’m A Mechanic

I often watch the 5 min creative videos you see floating around on social media and I think to myself "yep, I could do that, seems totally easy to recreate" and decided to watch a few Diesel Brothers shows myself which again I was like " looks hard, but I bet I could manage to build my own giant pink truck!" Turns out I'm an absolute wet wipe at building anything other than a lego figurine. Diesel Brothers; Truck Building Simulator  is brought to you by developers Code Horizon the same guys who brought us  games such as Gold Rush, It is published by both Code Horizon and PlayWay S.A The wonderful humans who blessed us with games such as house flipper and car mechanic simulator  Gameplay The game is based off the actual television show Diesel Brothers which I have often found my...

Steel Division 2 Beta PC Preview – Grand Strategic Gold

Over the past few weeks, I've had the opportunity to play some of Eugen Systems new World War II Real-time strategy game Steel Division 2. Having played the first Steel Division, I was thoroughly excited to give the sequel a proper try. This time around, the RTS action takes place on the eastern front, instead of Normandie. Steel Division 2 will be the first game from Eugen Systems to be independently published. I was a bit worried Steel Division wouldn't get a sequel due to almost half of the development team going on strike over unpaid wages in early 2018. Steel Division 2 was initially slated to be released on Steam on April 4th but was delayed to May 2nd. It has now been delayed again until June 20th so that the dev team could take player feedback and make changes to the game where ...

Brought to you by publisher Merge Games Limited and  devs Still Running, The Walking Vegetables is an action-packed game available on PC, Nintendo switch, Xbox One and PS4 Gameplay You're a beat cop style guy who looks very much like Walter White with a DeLorean (every guy in the '80s had them right ?)  yet you're less law-breaking and more helping the city and trying to not get mauled by giant mutated vegetables, The main aim of the game is to go through the levels to free the city from them. Generation Zero PC Review – An 80’s Robo-Nightmare

Generation Zero is the latest offering from the developers at Avalanche Studios. It is a first-person co-op shooter developed for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Generation Zero released on the 26th of March, 2019. Avalanche Studios has had a pretty solid track record in terms of making fun open world games. Mad Max and the Just Cause series are among the titles Avalanche Studios is known for making. Let's get on our rad clothes, break out the boombox and check out the bogus events following a weekend campout with friends. Gameplay I have been looking forward to getting my hands on Generation Zero since I first heard about it. I mean come on, Robots? The 80's? Scavenging for weapons to survive? That sounds pretty awesome, right?  In theory, yes, that sounds awesome. In practice, however, it's slig...

Have you ever wanted to just get on a plane and head out anywhere? How about you hop on a plane, it crashes, you survive and land on the most beautiful little island you have ever witnessed? As much nature as a David Attenborough documentary and beautiful scenery. Sounds amazing right? how about if it means your only child was missing on the island, and the other occupants of the island are slightly cannibalistic and deformed, just slightly... Endnight Games, an independent games studio bring us their second title The Forest. Pode PS4 Review – Teamwork Has Never Felt So Rewarding

Pode, by independent developer Henchman & Goon, is an amazing co-operative platform puzzle game that has been inspired by Norwegian culture.  Available on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch this exploration game is quite simply amazing and a breath of fresh air to me. Gameplay Pode features two main characters; a little rock called Bulder and a fallen star called Glo, together they must work together as they wander through the mysterious and magical Mount Fjellheim in a mission to help Glo get back into the sky.  Incidentally, Pode is Norwegian for "Graft"! Playing as either two-player co-op or in single player you must utilise each of the character's special abilities in order to activate and reach the exit on each level.  In the early stages, the basics of movement and jumping ...

Catastronauts Review – Space Madness!

Taking on space with the Catastronauts by Intertia Game Studios is great fun, a couch co-op experience that seems familiar but give you a great variation on the formula. Come with us as we embark on a space adventure unlike any you have experienced. Gameplay In traditional couch co op style, Catastronauts lets you and three friends take control of your own ship. After picking your character you are greeted with a basic tutorial which effectively is a screen that shows you the buttons. Simplistic is the best way to describe the controls. Pick up, Activate and run faster is pretty much all that you will be using. Once Catastronauts has taken you through the controls its straight into battle against an enemy ship.  So each round has a different challenge, you have to fire your weapon...

Human Fall Flat PS4 Review – A Stand Up Puzzler.

In these days of epic open-world games, narrative driven sagas with character depth and player investment, it makes a nice change to take a step back and play something completely stupid and fun. Human Fall Flat is that game. No need to worry about a plot-line or a skill tree, the biggest decision you have to make here is what colour hat to put on. So sit back, grab a cuppa, get ready to switch off and solve some puzzles as you steer boneless human Bob around his recurring dreams about falling. Made by No Brakes Games and published by Curve digital on consoles, Human Fall Flat is available on Mac, Linux, Windows, Switch, Xbox One and PS4, which is the format I played it on. Gameplay Bob has dreams about falling recurring dreams he can’t escape, but to move on through the game you hav...
