Yakuza: Like A Dragon Review – Even Dragons Have Their Endings

With Kazama Kiryu, the Dragon of Dojima finally out of the Tojo Clan after 7 games, Yakuza: Like A Dragon is a brand new adventure.  Known as Ryū ga Gotoku 7 in Japan, the '7' was dropped from the title to indicate that it is not like the previous games.  As usual, Ryū ga Gotoku Studio was at the developing helm with SEGA publishing. Yakuza: Like A Dragon was first released in Japan on January 16th, 2020 on PS4.  After translations from Japanese to native languages were done, it was later released on November 10th, 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X.  A PS5 release is also slated for March 2nd, 2021. "So Comes Snow After Fire, And Even Dragons Have Their Endings" - J.R.R. Tolkein As a die-hard Yakuza fan, I was very excited.  Intrigued, yet fearful of what Yakuza Like a Dragon w...

Astro’s Playroom Review – A Celebration Of Sony’s Legacy

Sony's latest mascot is a little robot called Astro. Astro debuted in a strong, PlayStation VR game called Astro Bot Rescue Mission. This was a critical and commercial success right out of the door, offering a charming 3D platformer with a VR twist. Despite being a full game, it was arguably the flagship tech demo for the VR unit itself for a long time.  Well SIE Japan Studio is back, and their Asobi Team has put Astro right back in the spotlight. A self-proclaimed tech demo designed to show off the features of the new DualSense controller. This actually undersells Astro's Playroom, which in realistic terms is a competent platformer with a slew of Easter eggs to keep any Sony fan smiling. Check out what we made of it in this Astro's Playroom review. Astro's Playroom Review: A Tech Demo Wi...

Remothered: Broken Porcelain Review – Fragile, But Not Completely Broken

Remothered: Broken Porcelain is the follow up to the award-winning Remothered: Tormented Fathers which released in 2018.  The original game gained praise for its atmosphere and storytelling, yet was criticised by the LGBT community for a late story twist.  Once again developed by Stormind Games, but publishing is handed over to Modus Games.  Remothered: Broken Porcelain was released on October 13th, 2020 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch.  No time to hide, let's see what lies in our Remothered: Broken Porcelain PS4 Review. Find Out What Lies Beneath In Our Remothered: Broken Porcelain Review With my fondness for horror games and my general lack of fear, I was excited to get my teeth into the Remothered series.  Let's see what I thought and let us know what you think in the comments below....

Wonder Blade Review – Streets of Blade?

If you’ve played Streets of Rage or more recently and fittingly, Castle Crashers, then Wonder Blade will seem very familiar to you. This is a 2D side-scrolling brawler that doesn’t do much to separate itself away from other games of it’s kind. That’s not to say this is a bad game, but there is no new ground broken here. Filled with pop culture references and comical cartoon violence. It’s hard not to enjoy the simplicity of mashing hordes of enemies and bouncing around the screen in this colourful adventure. Having won iOS GOTY in 2018 from Reddit, TouchArcade and AppAdvice, Wonder Blade makes its way to Playstation 4. If you've had a chance to play Wonder Blade, I'd love to hear what your take on it is. Don’t forget to let us know your thoughts in the comments below! As always, y...
Lair Of The Clockwork God Review – Point And Quip

Lair Of The Clockwork God Review – Point And Quip

Lair of the Clockwork God is brought to you by BAFTA-winning indie developer Size Five Games. Initially released on Steam in February 2020 and now available on PS4. It offers a never before seen mix of mechanics. On one hand, it's a point and click puzzle adventure in the vein of LucasArts classics such as Grim Fandango and Day of the Tentacle. On the other hand, it's an indie darling platformer complete with double jumping and Naruto running. The blend of gameplay approaches itself creates new ways to pose, and solve puzzles. You'll play as both Dan and Ben and will find yourself switching between the 2 frequently in order to utilise their skill sets. You'll have a blast as Dan and Ben muddle through old school adventure puzzles and platforming sections. Together you'll need to tea...

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope Review – Don’t Abandon Hope Just Yet

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope (we will just call it Little Hope for the sake of this review) is the second game of eight planned games in the series.  Developed by Supermassive Games and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, Little Hope follows the averagely reviewed Man of Medan released in 2019, yet they are seemingly unrelated to each other in terms of narrative.  Little Hope released on 30th October 2020 for Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC. You have Little Hope on who can you trust, and who will you save? Supermassive Games have been synonymous with the interactive horror-drama type game in the last 5 years seeing success with titles like Until Dawn and Man of Medan.  Little Hope seems to have taken a different path of the supernatural than it did in its predecessor.  W...

NBA 2K21 – Still the G.O.A.T.?

It's that time of year again when we are treated to the annual releases of the latest versions of the sports video games. Now in its 22nd year the NBA 2k series has long held the crown as the best video game version of Basketball having beaten off the competition from EA many years ago. This year's version NBA 2k21 comes out at what is a very unusual time for basketball and indeed sport in general. The 2019/2020 NBA season has only just finished (with the Lakers triumphant) with the playoffs being delayed from their usual spring slot and played in a secure bubble at Walt Disney World. Added to this is the looming release of the next-gen consoles and a next-gen version of NBA 2K21.  There are adverts all over the internet for the next-gen version telling us that it has been "rebuilt f...

Dirt 5 – Just Buy It Now!

Codemasters return to the mud, rain and snow in Dirt 5! However, don't be expecting a standard rally game. Dirt 5 shows us just how good and improved a game can get from the previous iteration. Reviewing this on the current PS4 Pro, but rest assured due to Codemasters allowing a free upgrade to the next generation of consoles, I will definitely be revisiting this to bring my next-gen thoughts on the game. Oh have I mentioned that Dirt 5 is awesome and you should go and buy it right now....no? Well, you really should! Gameplay So Dirt 5 returns to the more traditional style 0f Dirt gameplay, racing against other people on the track all at once, yes there are a couple of modes where it's just you on your own, but the majority of the time you will be trading paint with other AI controlle...
