Going Under – Add Monster Slayer To Your CV

Taking inspiration from their own experiences in Seattle, Aggro Crab with a team of six people made Going Under. Inspired by their own experiences living in Seattle and the tech industry. The game revolves an unpaid intern named Jackie on their first day at Fizzle and parent company Cubicle. Quickly unfolding as a beat-em-up rogue as Jackie explores the ruins of business start-ups in the basement. The present day setting and satirical plot makes for a unique rogue dungeon crawler as Jackie swaps her marketing degree for melee weapons. This review was based on the PC version of the game but Going Under is also available on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. "Going Under is a satirical dungeon crawler about exploring the cursed ruins of failed tech startups. As an unpaid intern in the ...

Serious Sam 4 – The Perfect Stress Buster?

I'd like to welcome our newest writer to the team, Aaron, who has taken Serious Sam 4 out for a leisurely stroll and possibly carved up an alien or two in the process! Serious Sam 4 by devs Croteam, brought so much nostalgia back for me! I loved playing these games as a kid and I’m glad I got the opportunity to play the newest Serious Sam. In this all-out fun run and gun game, I can guarantee you’ll have a lot of crazy fun and a few moments of frustration. As expected, Sam is still his badass quirky self you grew to love in the previous games. Fast and fun what else could you ask for! Gameplay As soon as you get into the game you are faced with a lot, and I mean a lot, of big aliens/monsters of all sizes.  Armed with a massive minigun in your hand you have just one thing to do…..s...

Fishing: North Atlantic – Lets Catch them Fish

Fishing, North Atlantic is a follow on from Fishing, Barents sea from the developer Misk. Highly realistic fishing simulator game that looks and feels very realistic. Get better gear and boats as you earn money from your catches to become a fishing legend. With new methods of fishing and more species to catch as you are sailing, you’ll have non-stop work to do to become a legend and make millions. Gameplay When you are starting Fishing, North Atlantic, you will be greeted with a choice of starting with a tutorial or just jumping straight in. I started with the tutorial, so I could get the hang of the controls. Showing you the basics of controlling the boat and your movement and then moving on to the travel and the maps it is an extremely easy to follow tutorial. The map allows you to ...

Partisans 1941 – Escape To The Motherland

Partisans by devs Alter Games and published by Daedalic Entertainment is a real-time tactical stealth game set on the eastern front of WW2.  Playing your part in the war effort as a Russian army commander stuck behind enemy lines, it is down to you to rally the locals in order to form a group of Partisans, the dictionary definition being "a member of an armed group formed to fight secretly against an occupying force, in particular one operating in German-occupied Yugoslavia, Italy, and parts of Eastern Europe in the Second World War." Can you make it out alive? Gameplay Partisans is certainly an interesting game to play and one that really made me think at every stage in the game as death is very easily come by.  Partisans come across as a mixture of Commandos and Xcom in that you ha...

Space Crew – Bomber Crew Revamped

The number of simulator games on the market these days is incredible, but a lot of them aren't really that challenging. Space Crew is another level and if you take your eyes off the ship of moments, there is a chance you end up with an inferno on your hands. Trust me, I have had enough of these now to safely say STAY AWAY from them. The team over at Curve Digital bring you this extremely tactical space crew/ship simulator, which is very much like their older classic Bomber Crew. Just in space this time and not on board an aircraft. So how did I fair? And will I be taking my career further? Keep on reading to find out. Gameplay Starting the game on with a tutorial mode is the correct way to develop a sim game, otherwise, you run the risk of been stuck in your own little world without a cl...

Cloud Gardens – This is Art-A-Stack…

Cloud Gardens is an incredibly relaxing, diorama creating puzzle game from Noio Games. Their first game since the excellent Kingdom franchise debuted; Cloud Gardens is what I like to call a seed 'em up. It's an incredibly different pace compared to their more roguelite, tower defence style of the Kingdom games. Giving you small urban wastelands, that you can manipulate and grow plants in. Your goal is to populate and produce a diorama. That is until you achieve a certain level of foliage and you're able to progress. You quickly realise Cloud Gardens is just an incredibly relaxing puzzle game, with some clever engine design too. Gameplay Cloud Gardens starts up and you're just given a voxelised space to examine; it is up to you to work out how to play the game. In fact the first level is ...

Tamarin – Cutesy Shootsy

Chameleon Games is a small studio made up of some Ex-Rareware developers founded in 2013. Their game, Tamarin was made to be reminiscent of 3D Platformer collectathons like Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64 or Jet Force Gemini. Developed for the PlayStation 4 and PC, Tamarin released on September 10th, 2020. For this review, I'll be taking a look at the PC version of the game, so let's get into it, shall we? "Explore, leap and shoot to save your family from the insect invasion! Leap with the agility of a tamarin as you journey into the Northern wilderness, in a world full of exploration, 3D-platforming and bug-splattering action!" - Steam Store Gameplay Tamarin is a 3d Platformer sometimes. Other times it's a third-person shooter. You begin the game with a short cutscene of a nice peaceful ...
