LawBreakers Review – Definitely NOT Overwatch

LawBreakers, originally called Blue Streak, was a free to play game or that's what the theory was. However, that has all changed. It comes in two flavours available on the PlayStation Store, the Standard version at £24.99 or the Deluxe version with some extra skins at £29.99. The back story to the game wasn't explained very well whilst in-game. This left me having to search online to find out the story behind LawBreakers. This wasn’t hard but a minor inconvenience all the same. LawBreakers is set in an alternate future after an event called “the shattering”. This wasn’t really made clear but at my personal guess it was some sort of act of mother nature, possibly? This event has caused problems with the laws of gravity. Anyway there are two factions in the game “The Law” the law enfor...

Fable Fortune Review – Collectible Card Gaming At Its Finest!

Fable Fortune is the latest offshoot in the massively popular Fable franchise. Designed by Tom Wimbush, published by Mediatonic, and developed by Mediatonic and Flaming Fowl Studios. Fable Fortune is everything you would expect from a Fable-themed game. Loosely related in lore and style, the early release title features a collectible card game mechanic with the ease of automation and the flare of animation. It’s a game of strategy and tactic, where taking chances can have great reward or great consequence. You play as one of six distinct Heroes and face up against challenging NPCs or real life opponents if you’re brave enough to chance it. Choose a quest at the beginning of each match, decide between good and evil part way along your journey, and ultimately battle to be the last man (o...

Dead Purge: Outbreak Review – Head Shot or Head Flop?

Dead Purge: Outbreak by Microlith Games is a first person zombie shooter set in a post-apocalyptic era that is available for the PC. With the zombie shooter genre constantly being pushed upon me via the daily shared videos on social media of Days Gone and my friend's showing off their latest gameplay from Call of Duty Zombies my appetite is constantly whetted. Boasting of "beautiful locations & dozens of weapons" along with a "realistic combat system & multiple game modes" I sat down at my PC and looked forward to what was going to unfold. Gameplay Ok, so lights down nice and low, headset on and most importantly; nothing around my feet incase there are a few jump scares!  Hitting "Play" on the opening screen I proceed to choose game mode.  Hang on, there is only "Horde" an...

Perfect Universe Review – When Love & Gravity Collide

Perfect Universe by Indie Developer Will Sykes Games is this weeks deployment onto my Ps4.  From the title I was not sure what to expect; a universe where Arsenal FC play consistently enough to win the Premier League? A day where Donald Trump's latest antics aren't plastered across my news feed?  Unfortunately only one of these can probably happen (Arsenal winning the Premiership) however Perfect Universe is actually a cool collection of 9 mini games that are based around physics and gravity. Gameplay With a hand-drawn concept to the monochrome comic book graphics all rendered on a parchment style background, Perfect Universe may not sound like a stand out game however it is surprisingly addictive and fun to play.  There are 9 mini games, of which 3 are single player and the other 6 ...

Furi Review – Battle, Defeat, Walk, Repeat

Furi is a one on one battle based game from independent game makers The Game Bakers. Released in 2016, Furi was aimed to get the relatively new game studio securely on the map. Time to see how good it is. Gameplay Furi is a top down beat 'em up where you play a white haired warrior bidding for freedom. You start locked in prison, but once the weird rabbit head wearing thing helps you escape you progress to the training ground. The antagonist is your jailer, the rabbit headed thing said to kill him and you will be free. The jailer has other plans though, he has been torturing you on a daily basis for as long as …… well I have no idea, but he likes his plaything, and he doesn't want you to escape. Let battle commence. The jailer takes you on in one on one combat. The purpose of this...

Pixel Worlds Review – Minecraft This Is Not

In Pixel Worlds players can create their own worlds with building blocks and different items that range from furniture to clothing items. Players also build platform levels for others to play, marketplaces for trading the ingame items and info worlds to help new players, among other things. Privately held mobile games developer, Kukouri Mobile Entertainment developed this game for high end mobile devices like Apple iPhone, iPad and Android platforms, but for this review I played through Steam. Gameplay I had very little expectations going into Pixel Worlds. I knew basically nothing about it other than it was something like Minecraft, which I have played and enjoy for some relaxing building, but boy was this nothing like Minecraft! The first faux pas for me was that you had to choose ...

The Golf Club 2 – The Best Golf Game Ever

A little while ago I professed my absolute love for The Golf Club and how much I hoped that The Golf Club 2 would be all I dreamed about. You can check out the previous article here So now with the released of The Golf Club 2, I finally got to get my gloved left hand on the controls. The game once again being developed by HB Studios they have given us what could be the greatest golf game released. Gameplay The Golf Club 2 builds upon the unique gameplay that made the first game such a joy yet a nightmare at the same time. Hitting straight shots is no easy feat, having the slightest deviation from the thumbstick causing the ball to veer off drastically either way. The game takes you through a pretty comprehensive tutorial when you first start the game. Taking you through shot shaping, ...

AereA Review – Musical Hit or Musical Tragedy?

AereA is a music themed action RPG (ARPG) developed by Triangle Studios and published by SOEDESCO.  Presented in 4K resolution, you are to play as one of the Great Maestro Guido's disciples as you explore the mysterious floating island of Aezir.  Your quest? to find 9 primordial instruments in order to restore balance and peace to the world. With a fair amount of ARPGs currently currently on the market such as Victor Vran and Super Dungeon Bros, I was wondering how AereA would squeeze itself into the genre and set it apart from the others. Gameplay The intro kicks in and a simple menu appears set to a background containing Aezir broken into a number of smaller islands and a floating airship.  Selecting "start game" I embark on choosing my save slot and selecting my character. ...

3 Things to Move F1 2017 From Good To Great

Artificial Intelligence The AI on the F1 2016 career was brilliant, drivers moving out of the way if you are lapping them. Allowing you through when you are on a fast lap in qualifying. Each driver seemed to have their own characteristics. Thankfully Maldonado wasn't in the game! Move onto a custom online championship and every driver suddenly turns into a totally useless moron. You drive up the inside and overtake into a corner, and BANG you get sideswiped. Driving nice and slowly on the formation lap warming your tyres. BANG, the driver behind just decides that he wants to slam into your rear end. Don't even think about settling for a mid grid start, that first corner with all these morons about turns into a destruction derby. So what do Codemasters have to address? simple, just give...
