OCO Review

Straight out of an elementary school computer lab, comes OCO. A brand new puzzle game. OCO is a 2D puzzle platformer game developed by Spectrum48 and is a self-published game. It was released on August 12th, 2021 on PC, iOS, and Android. OCO - The Game Inspired by your Love of Cool Math Games Due to the game's minimalist design, I was kind of skeptical to play this. It seemed like a boring game, but I love a good puzzle game so I buckled down and gave it a shot. And with the inclusion of making your own levels, I got even more excited. So with that, here are my thoughts on OCO. If you are excited to play OCO or want to share your experience, leave a comment or a thumbs up. We always love to hear back. Gameplay As you could tell from screenshots and trailers, there isn't a plot t...

Hokko Life Early Access Review

Hokko Life is the debut game of Swedish based indie developer Wonderscope in partnership with publisher Team17. It is a community sim game very much in the vein of the Animal Crossing series and Stardew Valley. I don't recommend falling asleep on public transport but in this case, it led to ending up in the small but welcoming town. Over time the town has dwindled but perhaps helping the community means turning this around. Being quickly welcomed by the anthropomorphic animal residents, repaying the hospitality leads to it feeling like home. The plot feels similar to Stardew Valley with the emphasis on change from urban life. And the gameplay & design very much feels like Animal Crossing: New Horizons (AC: NH). If you enjoyed those, especially the latter, then you won't be disappoin...

Jupiter Hell Review

Welcome to my review of Jupiter Hell, which is available now on PC via Steam and GOG! Brought to us by developers ChaosForge (Doom The Roguelike) and publishers Hyperstrange (Postal: Brain Damaged, Frozenheim). What Jupiter Hell can promise is that it's a roguelike turn-based strategy game like no other! Jupiter Hell - Not For The Faint Of Heart! Will I survive the hordes of demonic forces? Or will I fail and hit that eternal permadeath wall? If you enjoy this review, please feel free to check out my previous preview here, where I played Draft of Darkness. Gameplay As with most games, we start off with a pretty basic tutorial that teaches us the basics of the game. The game quickly teaches us that it is a turn-based strategy game that is set on a grid format, with permadeath. That's ri...

Toodee and Topdee Review

After cutting their teeth in a dozen game jams, dietzribi make their first commercial release with Toodee and Topdee. Having originally been a product of a game jam with the theme 'Combine two incompatible genres', Gonen and Ori decided to expand on the project and formally release it. Every once in a while a game comes out that does something new and you instantly think, 'How has no one tried this before?'. This is certainly one of those occasions. The story starts by explaining the creation of the universe. In the beginning, there was only Aleph. Aleph was a master of a special language that can turn words into worlds. He creates 8 worlds, balanced and kept safe by the mystical semi-colon. As he is filling the worlds with life, Glitches begin to appear. Toodoo, Alpeh's assistant, is c...

Song of Farca Review

Song of Farca is the second game by developer Wooden Monkeys, following Save Koch. Instantly you can tell that they've built upon the style of game they created with Save Koch for this new release. What they've brought to us here is a 2D story-driven hacker sim with plenty of puzzles and choices to make along the way. You play private investigator Isabella Song, or Izy, as she starts to rebuild her career after spending a stint in jail. You'll meet a number of interesting, recurring characters as a multi-threaded narrative weaves together and the consequences of your actions take shape. Black Mirror-esque themes emerge in a world where technology and corporations rule. Join me below as I take a deeper look at Song of Farca. Song of Farca - Can She Hack It? New World is an upcoming MMORPG currently in development by Amazon Game Studios and Double Helix Games, Powered by the Amazon Lumberyard engine. After an alpha test all the way back in October 2018, New World is finally open for beta testing. Join me as I delve into the game to see what awaits us at the final release of August 31st.
