Hokko Life Early Access Review

Hokko Life is the debut game of Swedish based indie developer Wonderscope in partnership with publisher Team17. It is a community sim game very much in the vein of the Animal Crossing series and Stardew Valley. I don't recommend falling asleep on public transport but in this case, it led to ending up in the small but welcoming town. Over time the town has dwindled but perhaps helping the community means turning this around. Being quickly welcomed by the anthropomorphic animal residents, repaying the hospitality leads to it feeling like home. The plot feels similar to Stardew Valley with the emphasis on change from urban life. And the gameplay & design very much feels like Animal Crossing: New Horizons (AC: NH). If you enjoyed those, especially the latter, then you won't be disappoin...

Stride Review

Stride, developed and published by Joy Way, is a single-player VR parkour game that features a combat element to it.  Out now on Oculus Quest 2, PCVR and Vive with PSVR coming at a later date, it is touted as a "high-octane parkour adventure in virtual reality" Stride, One hell of a way to keep fit! I'm not the best at motion games however on the Oculus Quest 2, Stride is listed as "Comfortable".  Let's take this for a test!  If you are playing this version or any of the early access versions, let us know what you think of it in the comments below! Gameplay When I think of parkour games, Mirror's Edge immediately comes to mind.  Running, jumping, sliding, grappling and firing a gun nicely sums up Stride however there are a few more mechanics at work thanks to the wonderful Oculus Q...

Hell Let Loose Review

On Tuesday, July 29th Hell Let Loose rolled out of Early Access and into its 1.0 release with its Update 10. A hardcore, first-person shooter set in World War 2, Hell Let Loose is the flagship game of developer Black Matter Studio and published by Team17. It prides itself in being a realistic multiplayer shooter, with open 50 vs 50 battles. These consist of infantry, armour and strategy. There is also a resource-based meta-game. Other titles in the World War 2 setting simply don't compare to the simulation of war brought forth by Hell Let Loose. Originally developed for PC in Unreal Engine 4 and is available for purchase on Steam. Black Matter Studios has announced plans to port the game to the latest Xbox and PlayStation platforms as well. PREPARE FOR THE BRUTAL, REALISTIC PAIN OF WAR IN...

Arming you with all the equipment you need and more this title could take digital creativity to a new level. SuchArt: Genius Artist Simulator is due to be released on 14th July 2021 and will be available via Steam and on the Nintendo Store on the Switch. "I don’t listen to what art critics say. I don’t know anybody who needs a critic to find out what art is" - Basquiat Not many people really know, but I love art - Especially abstract expressionism. I have based many of my projects on the works of Jean-Michel Basquiat throughout my art studies. Over the years I have lost touch with it, but slowly I am starting to put paint to canvas (whatever that may be). So nat...

Fishing: North Atlantic Xbox Review

Developed and published by Misc Games. Fishing: North Atlantic is the sequel to the hit Fishing: Barents Sea. First released in October 2020 for PC and then released on the 30th of June 2021 for Playstation 4 and Xbox One. You explore the vast ocean of Nova Scotia hunting for fish to make a living. Let's find out if this Fishing: North Atlantic review sinks or swims. Fishing: North Atlantic - Fishing Never Been So Much Fun I have to admit that I know absolutely nothing when it comes to fishing. So taking on the task of a fishing game was something that I was a little doubtful about. But it is also a simulation game and they can be really addictive so why not. Not playing the first game was also in the back of my mind but it made no difference at all. A fishing game is a fishing game righ...

Farm For Your Life Review

Hammer Labs and Secret Item Games have brought their title Farm For Your Life to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The team at Secret Item Games were kind enough to send me a code to play on the PlayStation 5. Farm For Your Life combines a lot of different aspects, farming, the zombies, and cooking. Old McDonald Can Keep This Farm Let us get this out of the way, I am not a huge fan of farming games. However, I chose to put all of that aside and see how the game juggled different elements. I do however like zombies which is good because this is a farming simulator with a difference. The winds blow in and decimate your village unleashing an apocalypse of the undead and the few survivors that remain. Gameplay You are welcomed with a character creation where you can customise y...

Open Country Review

Open Country is a survival adventure game brought to us by developers Fun Labs (Unturned, Stranded Deep) and publishers 505 Games (Death Stranding, Control). You play as an outdoorsman who is trying his best to learn and survive in the wilderness. This game is rated as mostly negative on Steam, at the time of writing. As always, if you enjoy this review you can check out my previous one here where I played Necromunda: Hired Gun on the Xbox Series S.
