Si’s WASD Highlights

A couple of months ago fellow TC writer Jas and I headed oFf to Tobacco Dock, London to see the latest games on display at WASD. It was filled with indie devs galore and along with a few larger developers, made a fun-filled day out. I've been to Tobacco Dock previously for work, so was aware of how much space there is to be filled and having never been to EGX Rezzed, I was expecting the venue to be packed to the rafters with both exhibitors and the public. However for a Friday it was eerily quiet, the bonus being there were no queues to check out the games! Here are my show highlights! Be sure to check out Jas' here! Souldiers Developed by Retro Forge and published by Dear Villagers, Souldiers is a sprawling fantasy world 2d platformer. Inspired by Soulslike games you have to b...

MCM London Comic-Con Weekend

We sent our intrepid explorer Sam a.k.a GameOnScorpio to the MCM London Comic-Con! Keep reading to find out how he gets on! What is Comic-Con? Comic-Con is more than just an event of browsing stores and seeing celebrities. It's about meeting new people and making new friends. It is a time and place where people can be whoever they want to be or just be themselves and be accepted regardless. A place where, no matter your background, gender, nationality or age you are accepted and people come together. After covid, the London MCM Comic Con was back in full swing this year but with a few changes. Gone were the wrist bands for entry as these were now replaced with passes on lanyards. What also made a nice change from my personal perspective was the long queues to get in (the joys and bene...

J’s WASD Gaming Highlights

Last month I was lucky enough to attend London's WASD gaming event with fellow Thumb Culture writer Si at Tobacco Dock, where a whole host of indie devs, and a few larger houses, put their games on display to the public. I do love visiting this venue and have fond memories of when it hosted a bustling but since defunct annual EGX Rezzed. Although I went on a Friday it was certainly a lot quieter than previous times however this could be down to it being a school term as well as some people not wanting to understandably be in places where there can be large crowds. There is certainly something here for everybody, from playable computer games and demos to a whole room dedicated to tabletop puzzles and board games. It certainly made for a good day out! Myself and Si managed to get aroun...

EGX 2019 – Game(s) Of The Show!

So EGX 2019 has come and gone, and with it, a whole raft of games played, watched, experienced. We could write up all about the individual games that the team got to play, but we would be releasing content until next years show! Instead, we thought it best to give a short run down from each person that was at the show and for them to give their own personal "Game of the Show!" So without further ado, let's get started! Stuart S Having been to EGX for a number of years previously, I kinda knew what to expect when walking through the doors at the eXcel London. A Whole swathe of indie games surrounded by those classy and shiny triple-A titles. Personally I always spend more time around the indie sections, namely the Rezzed and Leftfield areas! This year at EGX 2019 it was no different...
