Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds Review – Insert Witty Title To Get Views

So, here we finally are! PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is - without question - the biggest game in the world right now, so Microsoft's current console exclusivity for the title is obviously a big deal. Equally without question is that the PC game is notorious for its work-in-progress visuals and wobbly performance. With that in mind, some might say that it's somewhat miraculous that any playable version of PUBG is possible on a console right now. From another perspective though, what's clear is that the current build of the game is a long way short of the standards expected from a polished console release. Since Bluehole announced that PUBG would be coming to Xbox One, I was very excited. I have access to a really good gaming PC and have played PUBG on there to which I thoroughly enjoye...

Far From Noise Review – Feeling Lost? Consult a Deer

Video games have a wonderful habit of touching on tough subjects in the most unique fashion sometimes. Should that be titles such Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice touching on psychosis, The Town of Light heavily talking about mental health throughout, The Cat Lady taking a stance on suicide, Sym looking at social anxiety, and The Mull Littoral looking into anxiety. They all focus on telling a story by merging gameplay and story elements in conjunction with the selected mental health having some form of a hindrance on the progression, or dialogue. Far From Noise from developer George Batchelor, is one of these titles to fall under the category of subtly exploring depression by shifting the conversation between how you react to the current situation, but talks about life and death and how we ...

Tricky Towers Xbox Review – Tetris For Lovers Of Physics

Tricky Towers is basically a more modern version of Tetris, but with a magical and physics based twist. It also aims to get players together both locally, and Online to build their clumsy tower of bricks in various game modes. It’s recently launched on the Xbox One. The original game, developed by Weird Beard Games, launched on Steam and PS4 back in 2016. It went on to port to the Xbox One in September 2017 thanks to BlitWorks, with an exclusive game mode which I’ll touch on shortly. Whilst the title bears incredible similarities to Tetris, even down to every one of the standard blocks, the gameplay itself is different. Rather than clearing rows as you do in the 1984 classic, Tricky Towers finds you trying to stack the blocks as neatly as you can in order to form a tower, and depending ...

Sonic Forces PC Review – Not The Sonic You Are Used To

The last time I played a Sonic the Hedgehog game I was eight years younger. My experience with Sonic ’06 was about as fun as locking yourself in a bathroom, huffing paint thinner and watching reruns of The A-Team. My weekend plans aside* I was also asked to play Sonic Forces, the newest iteration of that scruffy blue hedgehog that if animal control got its hands on would be put down before you could even utter the words “Gotta go fast”. I can’t even begin to review Sonic Forces properly without first noting the controversy surrounding its release. Year after year, mediocre Sonic games come out, and this one seems to be no exception to that rule. Bearing in mind I’m writing this paragraph while still downloading the game. After looking around on the internet though this game has been rec...

Aaero Developer Makes Move Into Self Publishing

Developer, Mad Fellows have announced that they're moving into self publishing, and also detail the features in a new Aaero DLC. Starting with the ships, there are going to be three new ships introduced to the game which will be purely cosmetic and available to purchase individually for £0.69 and should be available before the end of 2017. The names of the ships are, 'Sol', 'Comet', and 'Phaser' and were named by the Aaero Twitter community. Mad Fellows Creative Director, Paul Norris in a press release had this to say about the ships. “We wanted to respond to the call for more ships but also avoid fragmenting the leader-boards. Our answer was optional cosmetic ship skins. You can buy just the one/ones you like and, if you prefer to stick with the original, you’re not at any so...
