Killing Floor: Double Feature PS4 Review – A Virtual Nightmare

Killing Floor 2 by Tripwire Interactive is a game that I've always wanted to jump into, but never really had the time to do so. Years ago I was obsessed with games like Left 4 Dead and Dead Rising and something about a horde of zombies really fascinated me on a technical level. Killing Floor: Double Feature not only allows me to finally jump into the series but also experience some zombie killing action up close and personal in virtual reality. Both Killing Floor 2 and Killing Floor Incursion have been nicely bundled together in one ready to purchase package. Gameplay It's important to note that both games play a little differently given their respective platforms. Killing Floor 2 is primarily a multiplayer shooter with the option to play offline and Killing Floor Incursion is more singl...

The Sinking City Switch Review – Water Waste

The Sinking City was developed by Frogwares and was published by BigBen Interactive. It was released on PS4, Xbox One and PC on June 2019. This is a review of the Nintendo Switch port, which released on 12 September 2019. In The Sinking City, you play as Charles Reed, a private investigator who is drawn to the fictional town of Oakmont after being continually tormented by visions of slithering, supernatural horrors. Reed hopes to bring an end to his nightmares while also investigating a slew of disappearances, but shortly after disembarking Reed is drawn into investigating the grisly murder of a local aristocrat, and it soon becomes clear that Oakmont has a dark, mind-bending secret below its surface. The plot borrows heavily from HP Lovecraft’s works, with suspiciously ape-like humans...

Solo: Islands Of The Heart Switch Review – Pocket Counsellor

Is your relationship failing? do you often want to know exactly how your partner is feeling but they never talk about it? playing Solo: Island Hearts sure opened up a new can of worms within gameplay for me! Involving both real puzzles to mess with your brain and real-life issues that may occur during relationships, asking at many times personal questions, was it worthy of me spending more than an hour? did it look like a cheap alternative to relationship counselling? enough with the questions, Coral - Although, I think the game has rubbed off on me with all the invading questions given. Solo: Islands of the heart is a quirky puzzle game brought to you by developers Team Gotham and published by Merge Games  Gameplay Kicking off the game I noticed something I have never before seen i...

Super Dodge Ball Beats PC Review – Dodge, Dip, Dive, Duck, and Dodge

The first thing I thought of when I saw the main menu of this game, Dragon Ball Z. It has an anime feel that will appeal to fans of that genre. Super Dodgeball Beats was developed by FinalBoss Games and Published by PlayStack. Super Dodgeball Beats was released on September 12, 2019, and is available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. This review is for the PC version of the game.   Gameplay Super Dodgeball Beats is a really interesting game, as I have never played dodgeball in a video game before this. The basic premise of the game is that you are students who have formed a dodge ball team. There really isn’t a story here. The game has 2 main game modes, Championship and multiplayer. In the championship mode, you will be able to select from 3 leagues to pla...

Creature in the Well Switch Review – Pinball Puzzle Perfection

The year was 1901 and Julia Davis Chandler knew only two things, she liked peanut butter and she liked jam. At that moment genius struck and just like the Spice Girls, she decided that two must become one. That day the American youth were introduced to the Peanut Butter Jelly (Jam) sandwich, and this revolutionised snack time for years to come. Fast forward to 2019, and Flight School Studios have combined the dungeon crawler and pinball genre to create a truly fascinating game, which releases on Switch, Xbox One. and PC on September 6th 2019. Creature in the Well opens in the midst of a sandstorm. The protagonist, Bot-C, awakens and begins his journey towards a mountain town in the distance. This is where we are introduced to the antagonist, the Creature in the Well, who is a loomin...

Bulletstorm: Duke of Switch Edition – Bait & Switch

Bulletstorm was developed by People Can Fly and Epic Games, and originally released on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Windows way back in 2011. A souped-up port was released to the same platforms in 2017 and the Switch is next in line, with Duke Nukem’s appearance being given even more prominence this time around. Start the game without investigating any of the options on the menu screen and you will find yourself playing as Grayson Hunt, the leader of an ex-communicated special ops team who previously served as state-sponsored assassins for the unhinged General Sarrano. We are told via flashback that the bad lads the team had been targeting weren’t such bad lads after all, but rather innocents who stood in the way of the General’s totalitarian regime. This led to the Grayson’s team going ...

WRC 8 PS4 Review – On The Right Track

WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship is an officially licensed rally game developed by Kylotonn and published by Bigben Interactive. You can strap in and experience the simulator on PS4, Xbox One and PC September 5th and it will be released on the Switch in October. WRC 8 is not just a re-skin of WRC 7, Kylotonn has listened to fan concerns and addressed these in the latest iteration of the game. One of the stand-out improvements is the career mode, which has an almost overwhelming level of depth. Taking inspiration from other popular sports titles such as FIFA’s Ultimate Team, the game uses a card-based system for crew management. This, along with leveling up your R&D team, managing season long and short term objectives really puts you in the role of a manager rather than just a driv...

Heave Ho Switch Review – The King of the Swingers

Heave Ho was developed by Le Cartel Studio, who were previously responsible for side-scrolling beat-em-up Mother Russia Bleeds. It is the latest in a long stream of quality titles which have been flung Switch-wards by publisher Devolver Digital. Heave Ho will release on August 29th 2019 at £8.99 (although, psst, if you pre-order it you can enjoy a 10% discount). In Heave Ho you play as a ball with two long arms whose only ambition is to use its preternatural grip and strength to clamber and catapult its body across a series of 2D obstacle courses in order to reach a chequered flag. Heave Ho can be played by up to four people simultaneously, which is where the insanity reaches a peak. Gameplay The controls for Heave Ho are very simple. The left stick dictates the orientation of the...
