Superclub Review

Superclub is a football management simulation board game published by Superclub themselves. Released in 2020 it's a 2-4 player game that will test the greatest of friendships to see who is the best manager. This Superclub review is something a little new for us. Superclub - Who Will Be The Special One? Now it may just be me but I prefer a good old management football game. Much better than playing the latest FIFA anyway. Ever since I was a kid playing Championship Manager on the Commodore Amiga I've always loved the ins and out of running a football club. From tactics to scouting and buying players. Superclub gives you all that drama and then some in the form of a tabletop board game. So let's crack on with this Superclub review, shall we? If you enjoyed this review then why not check...

From changing the gain to changing the pickup pattern, and one mut...

Gibbon: Beyond The Trees Switch Review

Developed by Broken Rules, Gibbon: Beyond The Trees is a hand-drawn adventure game featuring three adorable gibbons as they travel through lands unknown. I first played the start of this at WASD Live in London, and it was one of the stand-out titles for me there. I’m very happy to finally finish it and write a review. It is currently available on Apple Arcade, Steam, Nintendo Switch and itch. Gibbon: Beyond The Trees - Move over Tarzan! Beyond the aforementioned cute and fuzzy lesser apes, this is a game focusing on the ecological challenges that gibbons face in the wild. Witnessed from the perspective of Pink (no, not the singer), Beyond The Trees doesn't shy away from showing the destructive force that the human race sometimes is. It highlights issues such as deforestation, poaching an...

Mario Strikers: Battle League Switch Review

A couple of hours into my time with Mario Strikers: Battle League the possibilities of the game’s gear system clicked—by gear system, I mean clothing items you unlock to upgrade the characters. Each new bit of gear tweaks the strength, speed, shooting, passing, technique of whichever character you choose. It’s a balanced system—if you increase one stat, another stat declines an equal amount. Before my revelation I’d wondered why anyone would bother with that kind of micro-management. There are ten players to choose from—Mario, Luigi, Bowser, Donkey Kong and so on—and rather than tweak the stats, surely it’s just as easy to choose a different player. If Donkey Kong is too slow, I could go ahead and pick Yoshi instead. Toad is the quickest player in the game. Now I saw some pote...

Starship Troopers: Terran Command PC Review

Starship Troopers: Terran Command is a real-time strategy game, best compared to the likes of Command & Conquer, Halo Wars and Age of Empires. True to the 90s films, you command forces and go to war against the Arachnid hives of distant planets. Releasing fully on 16th June this year, Terran Command is being developed by The Artistocrats and published by Slitherine Software. Slitherine has published some notable war games already, including Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock. This is also The Artistocrats 2nd real-time strategy game, following on from Order of Battle: World War II which released 2015. Putting together the already existing Starship Troopers franchise, the publisher and somewhat experienced developers, I'm expecting good things from Terran Command. The Only Good Bug Is A...
