We’re already past the midpoint of March, so that means more Game Pass news. This month, alongside additions to the Standard, Ultimate, and PC tiers, Xbox are also expanding the offering on the Game Pass Core service. We’ve got realistic a hyper-realistic transport simulator, a deep JRPG, a collection of arcade games and more.
Train Sim World 5
Genre: Simulation
Longevity: 11–16 hours | Achievements: 81
Available: Now
Tiers: Standard
Released: 17 September 2024
Our very own EIC Stu checked out Train Sim World 5 when it released on PC last September and said “Dovetail Games has done it again, they have brought another fascinating train simulator onto the track… …It’s glorious!”. Alongside the usual train driving action, TSW2 adds a new mode where you can take on the role of a Train Conductor. Open the doors to let passengers on, validate tickets, and make sure no-one skips their fare. All aboard!
Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island
Genre: Adventure
Longevity: 8–10 hours | Achievements: 32
Metacritic: 62 | OpenCritic: Weak
Available: Now
Tiers: Standard, Ultimate, & PC
Released: 05 December 2024
Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island is a heartfelt narrative game where you’ll be helping an island full of amnesiacs remember who they are. The catch? These islanders are mythical Greek Gods. Alex, a ship-wrecked backpacker, will need to build relationships with these mysterious Gods, and search for their missing treasures, to restore their memories. The environments look particularly colourful and beautiful, whether that be in the day or the night-time.
Octopath Traveler II
Genre: JRPG
Longevity: 60–100 hours | Achievements: 33
Metacritic: 85 | OpenCritic: Mighty
Available: Now
Tiers: Standard & Ultimate
Released: 06 June 2024
On many accounts, Octopath Traveler II brings more of the same experience as was found in its prequel. You’ll have 8 distinct stories to discover, which are experienced in a non-linear fashion, all leading to a grand finale. From memory, Octopath Traveler was one of the early adopters of the 2D-sprite-3D-world aesthetic, and it looks to be used to stunning effect again here. Octopath Traveler II also includes deep turn-based combat and a fittingly epic soundtrack.
Blizzard Arcade Collection
Genre: Arcade
Longevity: 6–10 hours | Achievements: 17
Metacritic: 75 | OpenCritic: Strong
Available: March 25th
Tiers: Standard, Ultimate, & PC
Released: 20 February 2021
The arcade collection from Blizzard contains 3 titles from their pre-WoW days. They are The Lost Vikings (1992), Rock n’Roll Racing (1993), and Blackthorne (1994). The Blizzard Arcade Collection features multiple releases of these games, and also adds some modern features to their classic counterparts. These features include a new save system, a rewind action to undo any pesky mistakes, and even the ability to watch a full play through of each game. Nice.
Expanding Core
These 3 titles are joining the Game Pass Core service on March 26th.
- TUNIC
- Batman: Arkham Knight
- Monster Sanctuary
Going, Going…
