Hanako's Flower Shop - Cosy Visual Novel Launches In April

Tokyo-based FantaJI Games have announced their upcoming flower shop management visual novel, Hanako’s Flower Shop, which also contains some resource management elements, is launching on Steam in April.

In what is somewhat a staple hook for cosy, indie games, Hanako, a young woman at a crossroads in her life, takes on the challenge of running her grandpa’s beloved flower shop. Hanako’s Flower Shop is a heart-warming coming-of-age story, where every flower tells a story and every bouquet has the power to heal.

Business Is Blooming

There’s not a more recent trailer available than the demo one I’ve included below, but that does give some indication of the gameplay. Hanako will need to grow and harvest flowers for her inventory. Customers come to the shop with requests for all kinds of bouquets, and it will be up to you to create them with the correct levels of associated emotions. It looks as though different flowers will add a certain level of each emotion — a red rose for love, a white lily for modesty, or an amaryllis for regret — adding to the overall feeling of the created bouquet. Hopefully, you can puzzle out the situations and create the perfect match of flowers and customers.

The Developer

FantaJI Games is primarily made up of solo developer Vsevolod Metelsky from Ukraine. Hanako’s Flower Shop has been in development since 2019 but has been on hiatus due to the war, leading to the developer taking a break and moving to Tokyo, Japan.

“Getting Hanako’s Flower Shop so close to release is both exhilarating and daunting,” Vsevolod shared. “Years of hard work and dedication have gone into crafting this game, and every word of its story is infused with heartfelt emotion. We sincerely hope it offers you a spectrum of feelings—joy, reflection, and comfort—especially during life’s tougher moments. This game has been my dream to release, and through all of the delays from events outside of my control, finally getting to release this game and seeing people play and enjoy it will fill my heart with joy.”
