December on PlayStation – Week 3

December On PlayStation titles come to an end this next week! It's crazy to believe these are the last games of 2024. Never fear though, I will be back with your January titles in a couple of weeks. Currently, I am getting ready to set my out-of-office notification as soon as we get the festive time off. Botany Manor (PS5, PS4) – December 17th Welcome to Botany Manor, a stately home in 19th-century England. You play as its inhabitant Arabella Greene, a retired botanist. Explore your house and gardens, filled with botanical research, to figure out the ideal habitat for a collection of forgotten flora. Grow each plant to discover the mysterious qualities they hold It's 1890, and you play as botanist Arabella Greene, who is working on finishing her botanical research book 'Forgotten Flora'...

Paul’s 5 Most Anticipated Games of 2025

With 2025 less than a month away, it's time to get excited about the games releasing next year. This list is but a fraction of the titles I have on my radar — next year is shaping up to be another extraordinary year for gaming. Let's dig in to my most anticipated games of 2025. The list below is in no particular order. Wanderstop Wanderstop is the debut game from indie studio Ivy Road. On the surface it's a game about running a tea shop, gathering resources, and serving customers. Deeper than that, though, it's a story about how you can't force healing from trauma by using escapism purely as a means to an end. With Stanley Parable's Davey Wreden on design duty, it's safe to say not everything will be as it seems. Hopefully we can help Alta find peace and comfort, and learn some...

Paul’s Top 3 Games 2024

With 2024 drawing to a close and awards season underway, I've taken a look back through the games I've played this year and picked my top 3. These are presented in no particular order. They're the games that impressed me the most or provided the most joy. It's been a difficult year to narrow down my top picks, as most of what I've had a chance to play has been wonderful. However, narrow down I have, so let's have a look. Lorelei and the Laser Eyes The first game I reviewed this year and a return to writing after finishing my degree, Lorelei and the Laser Eyes was a fantastic way to come back. A project I'd been looking forward to since finishing up Simogo's previous game, Sayonara Wild Hearts. Lorelei and the Laser Eyes is heavily focused on puzzles. The game begins with a very co...

The Allure of Horror

What Draws Me to Horror? I’ve always wondered why people get drawn in by the horror genre. In our daily lives, I, and I assume others, try to avoid horrific events like serial killers and kidnappings. And obviously to make sure I don’t become Netflix’s next best series. So why dive into these mediums? Warning Please be aware this article contains gifs that may include flashing lights and patterns. Please read with caution! Well, I think it’s mainly more for creatures. I can’t get enough of monsters, beasts, aliens (shout out to the Xenomorph) or anything that isn’t a human. I remember being roughly eight years old, walking into the living room late at night, and seeing Stephen King’s IT. The one starring Tim Curry, and when I saw the part where this clown becomes a giant spide...

10 video games to look forward to in 2025

The last couple of years have been strong with hugely popular and successful video games. From Baldur's Gate 3 to Belatro, video games have been excellent and 2025 looks to be no different. I have written about what are shaping up to be the top 10 video games of 2025. Now remember this is just my opinion. Some games may have been overshadowed by the others hence why they don't appear on this list. Or, in my opinion, are less likely to be released in 2025. I have also written these in no particular order. So, let's get into what we're all here for...games! GTA VI As this will probably be the biggest video game of 2025 I figured why not begin with GTA VI. It has been a long time coming, especially since its predecessor came out in 2013. The game centres on Lucia, a newly escaped convict in...

December On PlayStation Week 2

December on PlayStation rolls into our second week! It is a quiet week, but with a few standout games that remind me of my childhood!! I made my choices, and here they are. Among Ashes (PS5) - December 9th It's the year 2001 and your friend has sent you a link to a game that someone posted online, but as you play you quickly realise that something is terribly wrong. There's a dark presence in this game, and it wants to get out. As you fight nightmarish monsters and solve mind-bending puzzles, the lines between the game and the real world will fade away. Will you survive the night? Whatever you do… KEEP PLAYING Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered (PS5, PS4) – December 10th 25 years ago, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver introduced the world to the vampire Raziel. In the gam...

Currently Playing – Metaphor: ReFantazio

The main game taking up a lot of my time is Metaphor: Refantazio, which came out this October. I’ve enjoyed it so far, although outside of review games, I have only played Persona 5. JRPGs are something I enjoy, but usually when it’s turn-based, it’s a little hard for me to really get stuck in. The story of Metaphor: Refantazio is both simplistic and complicated, which I don’t mind. It’s a typical "try to change the world for the better by finding like-minded individuals" game. The way they go about dealing with harsh topics is interesting with the game dealing with Classism and Racial Bias. I still haven’t gotten used to how the calendar system works, which frustrates me at times. Such as dedicating days to help build bonds and then some for grinding out levels for my archetypes....

Currently Playing – Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix

Please be aware this article contains gifs that may include flashing lights and patterns. I am a Fortnite Noob. At least when it comes to playing the game. I have watched people play it and loved every minute. I am also that not at all annoying person yelling I can see someone running, whilst my partner sprints about the map escaping storm after storm. Having never been much good at dual stick gaming for accessibility reasons, I never thought I'd get to enjoy the game first-hand. My only previous dalliance with the game was when my partner and I decided to stream us playing it together. Even then I found much more joy in driving off in golf carts then aiming for that precious Victory Crown. And then Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix came about. A short sweet season that changed everything. PlayStation Plus December

The PlayStation Plus December Games were announced this week and it appears we're not quite on the PlayStation nice list. With the exception of It Takes Two, this month is "meh" at best. All three games will be available to PlayStation Plus members on December 3 until January 6. Remember that even if you don’t plan to play these games now you should still add them to your library so you can check them out at any time (as long as you have an active sub). It Takes Two | PS4, PS5 Genre: Action-Adventure Longevity: 24hrs | Trophies: 21 (incl Platinum) Metacritic: 88 | OpenCritic: 88 Release: 25th March 2021 It Takes Two is a unique platform adventure designed exclusively for cooperative play.
