Granblue Fantasy Relink: Endless Ragnarok PC Review

Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok is a DLC for Granblue Fantasy: Relink. This DLC has added new characters to play with, new quests and a good amount of content. There’s a lot of good in the game. But oh boy do I have several opinions of what I’ve gone through. Like…maybe it’ll be a normal length.

The whole process to just start the story is really feeling endless…

A party of four characters fights a large, blurred boss called Fan-Fave Sumo Pincer in a dark, cracked arena, with HUD elements and objectives displayed on screen.
If you could see what I saw, this blur would blow your mind!

Gameplay

Now I must prefer that you will have a very long journey if you’re trying to reach the start of the story. What I mean is after you’ve done all the stuff in the main game, you’re halfway to Endless Ragnarok. Why do I say you’re halfway there? Because you’ll need to repeat what you did for Chapter Zero and go out and complete a certain quest.

The amount of quests you need to complete building the door to then start the story is exactly 46 quests! Which are the Maniac and Proud difficulty. However, some of these battles can be done with the CPUs as your companions. Yet, because of some mechanics these bosses throw out, they need someone to actually do something. For example Pyet-A, this enemy throws out orbs that house different elements that if you don’t destroy will make you wish you did.

TIME FOR….WHEEL…OF…MISERY!!!!!!!

Conflicting Conflux

Getting tired of the literal Endless quest battles? Why not try doing some Conflux Surveys! Conflux Surveys are this game’s version of easy ways to farm materials. This is the only thing you’ll do alone. However, the Conflux Surveys doesn’t add more cycles unless you continue doing more quests and move the story along. Which honestly kind of cleanses the palate from fighting some of the same monsters over and over.

The Conflux Surveys has a nice system that anyone can easily adapt to once they understand the assignment. Which the first two cycles will have you just go through just enemy elimination. However, once you start the third cycle and onward will give you branching rooms that can lead to a fight or something random. Like the Dexterity’s ways that introduces more of a puzzle or little games that require no violence.

Lastly, I will end this subject with a question. WHY WAS AN ALBACORE THE BIZARRE ENEMY OF THE GAME?!

This dino thought he can come into my neighborhood and roar his tech all over the field.

Graphics and Audio

The looks and design that the team made for this DLC is actually pretty and I love the character designs. Even the monsters I’ve fought thanks to this DLC made me enjoy the combat and the team’s creativity. Like for example, the Sumo Pincher. This thing has one way to beat that isn’t just numbers, but just playing Sumo. And the level of details as you fight them is actually impressive. Especially when you get to their 25% mark of their health.

Now, I feel like the team behind the CGI when monsters do their ultimate move. The evidence I want to put on the table is again Pyet-A themselves. The fluid motion of the little bots flying around getting ready unless that ultimate is crispy to watch. Even the mechanical sounds coming from it was pretty impressive. Luckily we got the whole game with the clean line read from both returning VA and new ones for the new characters on the roster.

And Alejandro, if you’re reading this…you really are becoming the Tory Baker of this generation.

I’ve fought people, dragons, titans, elements…BUT WHY YOU GOT ME FIGHTING A FISH?!?!?!

Longevity

This DLC might take someone about twice the length of the base campaign to finish everything needed for this DLC alone. With the Conflux Surveys, it does make the grind a bit more tolerable in a lot of ways. Then there is the bit of time you’ll need to collect summoning creatures that work in some quest and parts of the cycles. With my experience and the high level characters, I’ll be helping several people get through several quests.

Three is a crowd, Four is a party, but Five is a Summons Riot!

Final Thoughts

Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok is a really good expansion to this great game. My only thing is the heavy amount of monster quests that need to be done in order to start the content. With a wall like that, it slightly killed my momentum next to the grinding needed to continue. Luckily, we can get early access to the Conflux Surveys and can start the smooth grinding. But to me that’s just like using a coaster on a wobbly chair.

I hope that if they make another DLC to this size or larger…please let us start the story before making us have to drag the grinding fest.
