Martha Is Dead – PS5 Review

Developed by LKA and published by Wired Productions. Martha is Dead has launched on Xbox One, Series S/X, Playstation 4/5 and PC. A thrilling story with lots of tension June 1994, Allied forces have stormed the beaches of Normandy resulting in an estimated 4413 Allied deaths. Life is about to change forever for a young German soldier's family. Martha has been found dead and her twin sister Giulia must deal with the trauma and fallout of her murder, alone. Giulia meanwhile is also hiding a secret....one that began with a simple nod of her head. I discovered Martha is Dead back in November 2020 and was excited to get to grips with the game which was always described as a "Dark Psychological-Thriller". I never expected just how spot-on those 3 words would turn out to be. In a las...

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream is the latest instalment in the Atelier franchise. It continues the trend of single-player RPGs in a somewhat open-world akin to late 1700s or early 1800s Europe. It was developed and published by Koei Tecmo who have been part of the series since it began on the PS1 in 1997. I was excited to play the game after having enjoyed the Atelier Mysterious Trilogy Deluxe Pack. If you are a fan of the series then I have no doubt you will too. And if you are interested, you can read my review here of the original Atelier Mysterious Trilogy here. The Adventure Continues! Atelier Sophie 2 is available on February 25th on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4 & PS5. The TC team and I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on Atelier Sophie 2. So d...

The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante Review

The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is the debut game from developer Sever Studio while working with publisher 101XP. You play as the titular character in this single-player narrative-driven RPG. The game takes place in the fantasy fictional world of Magra, part of the Arknian Empire. The setting is akin to Victorian London with class issues, religion and even persecution of magic users being major driving forces of the story. Set out on a challenging lifetime journey, where every choice entails consequences. Each decision determines the path you go down so choose wisely. Sir Brante was released on PC last year but is available now on PlayStation & Xbox consoles with my review based on the PS5 version. And if you want to read more on the game, check out Gareth discussing news on it...

Unbound: Worlds Apart Review

There is a narrative these days that "games are too difficult". While there are challenging titles out there, gamers are more blessed than ever with features and resources that help tackle the difficulty. I remember when games didn't have any saves. All you had was your 3 lives and no matter how far you had advanced into a game, once those lives were gone it was truly Game Over. Unbound: Worlds Apart is the ultimate test of your platforming skills. Unbound precision Unbound: Worlds Apart is a challenging precision platformer from Indie studio, Alien Pixel. The Romanian team has grown from 2 people at its inception to now having a core of 8 devs now working on this title.  The game is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC. Gameplay Playing as Soli, a young mage who ...

Paper Dolls 2 Review

Chinese first-person horror adventure Paper Dolls 2 is out now on consoles. Waking up in the aboding Yin Mansion, your goal is to uncover what happened to the famous Yin family. Paper Doll 2 - Twist and Turns Await I enjoy the horror adventure genre and I was hopeful that Paper Dolls 2 on the PS5 by developers Beijing Litchi Culture Media Co would bring some jumps and scares to the year. Gameplay Having made the move from VR in the original, the sequel has aimed for a wider audience. The game starts at the base of a set of stairs, without any explanation or goal. This pushes towards a heavy aspect of the first-person puzzle. Who you are, what are you looking for and how does everything link together? Aside from the dark and mysterious mansion, there is a sprinkling of horror in ...

Summertime Madness Review

Puzzle games are oftentimes quite divisive. It's a balancing act. The art of trying to hit the sweet spot of just the right degree of challenge for the player whilst also keeping it fun, engaging, and compelling. Summertime Madness aims to master this balance whilst also exploring some salient themes like faith, love, despair, pain, and hope. A brush with Madness in Summertime Developed by the small Italian team DP Games, this port of the 2021 PC release is brought to console aided by the porting/publishing talents of the team at Sometimes You. The small install size of the game means it can be kept on console and used as a pallet cleanser between bigger titles. If you enjoy reading this review check out our other Puzzle Game Reviews. Blackwind Review

Developed by Drakkar Dev and published by Blowfish Studios. Blackwind is one hell of a hack and slash platformer that will be available across most platforms. On checking Blackwind out via the trailers I was getting LAPD Futurecop vibes. I do wonder just how much this will live up to my last gaming experience similar to this. Go To Your Safe Place, On This Occasion, It's A Mech! This will be the first title I play on the Playstation 5 so I have no idea what to expect or what is in store. So join me as I start a new adventure in gaming and in Blackwind. Gameplay As soon as the game starts we jump into the storyline learning briefly what the current mission was supposed to be. James Hawkins, the son of the famous Professor Hawkins are on board the Pandora on their way to Medusa-42. With ...

Nerf Legends Review

Nerf Legends by devs Fun Labs and published by GameMill Entertainment is a first-person shooter, based on the iconic Nerf range of toy weapons. Nerf Legends - It's Nerf Or Nothing! Available across all consoles, was I ready to experience a futuristic Nerf rather than the sting of a foam dart between my eyes? It's time to go to the next level on the PS5! If you enjoy my review, be sure to track us down on social media and give us a follow! Gameplay Having four sons, Nerf has been a pretty big deal when it came to them growing up. I have an armoury of Nerf weapons in the loft at the moment where they have outgrown them however the littlest son is getting to that age where he can have a play soon. With Nerf Legends I really expected an FPS that allows you to safely run and gun your...

Lacuna Review

Let's cut right to the chase. Lacuna on PS4/PS5 is glorious. This sci-fi noir adventure feels like a spiritual successor to Police Quest, one of my favourite Sierra Games series from the late 80's/early 90's. It builds on the tropes of the genre, pairs it with excellent writing and establishes its own spin on the point and click adventure.  Lacuna - Point The Finger Tiny German developer DigiTales Interactive released Lacuna on PC back in May 2021 and this much anticipated console release is published by Assemble Entertainment. Available on Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, this indie title comes in at 2GB install size on PS4.
