Deadwood 1876 Review

Designed by Travis Hancock and published by Asmodee China, Facade Games. Deadwood 1876 is a card game that pits you against friends to unlock safes and take as much gold as you can without dying. Thanks to our friends over that Facade Games we got the opportunity to play one of their card games and it wasn't a disappointment. There's something of a kid in all of us when it comes to playing card games. Throw in some dice mechanics and a theme of the wild wild west and you got yourself a winner. If you enjoyed this review, why not check out my latest one here. You can also catch up with what the rest of the Thumb Culture team is up to on our social media. Ducky, known for their well-built keyboards released the successor of the Ducky One 2. Thanks to the team at Overclockers UK we have managed to get our hands on a Ducky One 3 Yellow Mini to take for a type. An Absolutely Quacking Little Keyboard! Currently, the keyboard cult has a huge following. To be quite honest, before checking out this Ducky One 3 I was pretty clueless about them all. I was a pick up a keyboard and run with it kind of guy. However, has this changed? Keep reading to find out if I am a convert to the custom ways with keys. Design Obviously, the first thing that really strikes you when looking at the Ducky One 3 Yellow Mini is the colour, for obvious reasons. Personally, I am not a fan of overly colourful setups. However, the shade of yellow used to make these keyboa...

The Quarry PC Review

The Quarry is an interactive horror game from developer Supermassive Games (Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures Anthology) and publisher 2K (Borderlands series & NBA2K series). It's a spiritual successor to Until Dawn in this narrative-heavy, choices matter video game. After summer camp is over, the counsellors of Hackett's Quarry are stranded overnight and spooky events begin to occur. Finding clues, solving the mystery and making wise choices may just be enough to survive the night. The Quarry is available on PC, PS4/PS5 & Xbox One & X/S on June 10th. Classic horror in spades here in The Quarry! I love Supermassive Games' previous work and so I was especially excited to play The Quarry. Let us know below if you are excited or what you think about the game too. Gameplay The ...

Best Month Ever! Switch Review

Best Month Ever! was made by the Warsaw Film School, an intriguing setup for sure. What was a film school doing making a video game? Their website says the game was made by an array of people: ‘students, graduates, and employees’. How did this work? An idyllic picture of a large group of people collaborating sprang to mind, I admit. Best Month Ever! is a Narrative Point and Click Adventure Game, and it is out now on PS5, Xbox, Switch and PC. WOULD A GAME BY ANY OTHER NAME STILL SMELL AS SWEET? One of my main questions before beginning Best Month Ever! was whether a film school would find a good balance between storytelling and gameplay. There are games with a narrative emphasis that struggle to incorporate a good level of gameplay into their mix, often to their detriment. So would th...

Master & Dynamic MG20 Wireless Headset Review

When a pair of Master & Dynamic MG20's landed on my desk I was over the moon. When it comes to sound quality this particular company is up there with the big brands thanks to their premium design, materials and attention to detail. MG20 Never Play the Same? This is Master & Dynamic's first venture into the world of gaming headsets. Can they come up with a superior must-have product? Design and Control Right from the very start of even getting to the product that is within the box, the packaging is well thought out. Having slipped the sleeve off you open the cardboard door to the box to reveal the matt black of the MG20 wireless headset lying before you. The detachable boom mic held in place by a security seal. I received the Black Onyx headset, the other colour alternative ...

Si’s WASD Highlights

A couple of months ago fellow TC writer Jas and I headed oFf to Tobacco Dock, London to see the latest games on display at WASD. It was filled with indie devs galore and along with a few larger developers, made a fun-filled day out. I've been to Tobacco Dock previously for work, so was aware of how much space there is to be filled and having never been to EGX Rezzed, I was expecting the venue to be packed to the rafters with both exhibitors and the public. However for a Friday it was eerily quiet, the bonus being there were no queues to check out the games! Here are my show highlights! Be sure to check out Jas' here!
