Fishing Sim World: Pro Tour Review

I’ll start by saying I’m no Fisherman! I haven’t cast a rod in over 20 years, However, I do love my simulation games and the idea of sitting down to an afternoon of fishing with a few beers sounded great. Will I net a Big Catch? Or Just drown some worms? Let’s see… Fishing Sim World launched in September of 2018, Developed and published by Dovetail Games and has seen multiple updates, extra lakes and DLC packs. The latest update Pro Tour came out on 18th July introducing a new career mode featuring 100 of the worlds best anglers and a sponsorship system with 50 licensed fishing tackle companies and social media following earning you increasing money and fame! Gameplay As I said I’m not an experienced fisher so a lot of the equipment, baits etc seemed very foreign to me, my first i...

Argonus and the Gods of Stone Review – Divine Intervention or a Greek Tragedy?

Zojoi bring us Argonus and the Gods of Stone, a chance to delve back into the past of ancient Greece, well maybe the films of the 70s and 80s about it. Time to get all nostalgic and maybe find a golden fleece, a mirrored shield or sever the head of a gorgon. Loincloth on, shield raised and sword as sharp as health and safety will allow. Gameplay Argonus and the Gods of Stone is a traditional first-person adventure. Those familiar with Greek Mythology will be quick to pick up on the use of the word Argo, so it is assumed that Argonus is going to be related to the great ship in some way or at least the Argonauts. So let's get the game started with a few clichés:- Shipwreck? - check Stranded on an island? - check Visited by a God? - check No idea what you have to do? - che...

Call of Cthulhu Review – Intriguing To The End

Call of Cthulhu is a role-playing survival horror game developed by Cyanide and published by Focus Home Interactive. Call of Cthulhu is inspired by H. P. Lovecraft's short story "The Call of Cthulhu" and an adaptation of the 1981 role-playing game of the same title. The game was released on 30 October 2018 on PC, Xbox & PS4, and was recently released on the Nintendo Switch on the 8th October 2019. Call of Cthulhu had fairly good reviews when it was originally released in 2018, "8.6/10 from IGN", "59% from PC Gamer" & "67% from Metacritic", but even though I didn’t originally play the game and as a lover of horror/psychological thriller genre, I was very interested in seeing how it would fare on the Nintendo Switch. Gameplay The plot of Call of Cthulhu starts off in 1924, w...

Megaquarium Review – Mega Fishy Fun

Swimming into gaming stores across all consoles on the 18th October is Megaquarium from developers Twice Circled, the creator of the wonder drug tycoon game Big Pharma.  If you are a huge fan of economic simulation games and also want to play something a little different, this brand new little gem may be just what you are looking for. Gameplay I love tycoon games.  There is something rewarding in trying to figure out the correct strategy for a particular situation and then either seeing it come to fruition or cause a catastrophic event further down the line.  Since the early days of games like Theme Hospital, Theme Park, Sim Tower and Holiday Island I have been hooked.  To be given Megaquarium to review was mixed emotions for me, yes I love tycoon style games however I am probably th...

A Knight’s Quest Review – The Legend of Rusty: The Wind Breaker

Remember the good old days playing PS2 era platformers? No? Well, don’t let that put you off as A Knight’s Quest is a fun 3D action adventure game developed by Sky9. Now it’s plain to see that the game wears its influence on its tunic. You don’t need to be Impa to see that Sky9 are obviously fans of the Zelda series and have used that to help build a world and game influenced by the franchise. As you’d expect, you explore Regalia, a beautifully crafted world, collecting elemental weapons and magical powers from three Spirit Knights in order to bring peace to the world. Gameplay The game features many elements that you’d expect in an adventure game: puzzles, platforming, exploration and sub-par combat. Although these are conventions of the genre, they are still extremely fun. The p...

Sniper Elite III Ultimate Edition Review – Hit Me With Your Best Shot

Sniper Elite III Ultimate Edition initially released on multiple formats back in 2014. It was perhaps inevitable that a Switch port would one day arrive, but I'm pleased to say that this is a quality conversion, and brings across extra content and improvements which developers/publishers Rebellion Developments have introduced over the years since it first came out. Sniper Elite III Ultimate Edition is set in 1942 in Nazi-bothered North Africa, which makes for a refreshing change from the usual dingy grey bunkers on dingy grey streets which litter games set during World War 2. You play as Karl Fairburne, a gruff-voiced man with a rifle which enters the room 10 seconds before he does. Your goal is to track and take down the fictional General Franz Vahlen, who is doing naughty things with ...

Deliver Us The Moon Review- Zero Gravity, Maximum Seriousness

KeokeN Interactive bring us the moon, well actually I kind of have to deliver it myself. Nothing is going to be easy in this game. Oxygen is in short supply and it's up to me to reboot the broken moon's supply to save the world. Fortunately I work well under pressure, so smoke me a kipper I'll be home before breakfast. Space suit on, dried food rations at the ready and a desire to save all humans already in built. Lets blow this joint.  Gameplay Deliver us the Moon goes with the standard WASD format to move around, well I say standard, once I got into space it took a little longer to get used to it as zero gravity can be a bit tricky. I found a few items that helped me get around the space station, there has been quite a bit of damage and power would be useful. Missions are presented...

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Review – Losing It’s Identity

In 2017, Ubisoft dragged the dying franchise of Ghost Recon out of the morgue and like Doctor Frankenstein himself, injected life into the franchise with Ghost Recon: Wildlands. Now they return with another entry in the series, but will this be the Boris Karloff monster we’ve been waiting for? or a limp and laughable Ed Wood style entry to the series? Upon starting the game, you are greeted with the character creation screen. I knew what I needed to do...create the baddest looking dude on the planet. I tinkered with his hair, added scars and obviously gave him an epic beard. He was ready. Generic action man was here to take down generic villain in a generic story with gravelly voices and explosions. My inner Arnie was excited. I tied my bandana, applied my camouflage and pressed star...
