Shadow has revealed its new hardware upgrade! The French-based cloud gaming service has announced “Neo Boost”, a significant improvement for their Boost tier, launching this summer and available now in Early Access.
First Of All: What is Shadow?
Shadow provides a service that lets you access a full Windows PC in the cloud, available across various devices, including computers, Macs, and phones. Apart from catering to professionals, Shadow is also offering three gaming tiers, each with its own hardware setup to meet different requirements:
– Discovery: A basic, budget-friendly option for new or casual gamers.
– Boost: A reliable experience for most gaming needs..
– Power: A high-performance setup for gamers seeking maximum performance.
Shadow’s goal is to let its users access their games and applications from virtually anywhere, without needing to invest in expensive hardware.
Boost Gets A Boost
Modern titles tend to push hardware limits, and Shadow is finally responding to those needs. While Power remains their high-end option for demanding games, Shadow is now introducing a hardware upgrade for their mid-tier Boost subscription. The new Neo Boost will allow access to advanced graphics technologies like DLSS, frame generation, and ray tracing, aiming to improve the gaming experience and close the performance gap considerably.
Here’s the breakdown:
- AMD EPYC 9354P 8 vCores – 3.25 GHz
- Nvidia RTX2000 ADA 16GB
- 16 GB RAM, DDR5 5600 Mhz
Quite a step up from the current Boost hardware!
Enter Early Access – Get Ahead of the Game
Shadow has stated that the new hardware will be deployed gradually starting in May of this year. However, if you’re eager to try it sooner, they are also offering an Early Access program. Existing Boost subscribers are looking at a one-time migration fee of £19 to enter the program, after which their monthly subscription price will stay the same at £29.99. New customers can jump into Early Access with a three-month commitment at £36.99 per month. Heads up though: spots are limited and only available to Shadows European customers.
Not interested in joining the Early Access? Boost subscribers who do not wish to opt into Early Access will receive a free, automatic upgrade to Neo Boost as it rolls out for all customers starting in May.
