Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Review

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a third-person platform shooter developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is important to point out that, Rift Apart is not a sequel to the 2016 Ratchet & Clank title on PS4, which was more based around the movie. It is in fact a sequel to the 2013 PS3 title Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus. Insomniac Games have taken Ratchet & Clank to another dimension Rift Apart has arrived and has smashed its way through all dimensions to land on the Playstation 5. I am a huge fan of the Ratchet & Clank series so jumped at the chance to write a review for the latest installment. Unless you've been out battling Sandsharks or Robomuts by now you must have seen at least one screenshot of Rift Apart. So you may...

Wreckfest PS5 Review

From Finnish developer Bugbear Entertainment comes Wreckfest, a racing and vehicular combat game published by THQ Nordic. Bugbear are no strangers to racing and demolition derby games, previously making the Flatout Series. In fact, I learned that the genre is becoming somewhat of a speciality of theirs, which initially grabbed my attention about Wreckfest. Taking this experience, Bugbear has made a game I can best describe as if Gran Turismo and Burnout had a baby and this was the result. Bugbear struck gold upon releasing the game in early access after an unsuccessful Kickstarter. As a result, the following few years allowed them to reach their goals and release the full game on PC and then on consoles. Wreckfest is available now on X-Box & Playstation as well as Windows. All ...

Wonder Boy: Asha In Monster World Review

The story of Wonder Boy is one that has spanned five decades.  It started life in the arcades just at the latter end of the golden age of arcade video games. Between the years 1986 and 1988, Sega had published three Wonder Boy games which were ported to everything from the Commodore 64 and the ZX Spectrum, to the TurboGrafx-CD. It made the move to home consoles in 1989, starting on the Master System before moving on to the Mega Drive. It would be 22 years before we heard from the boy of wonder again. Fast forward to 2016 and the retro gaming scene is booming! At the turn of the century, gaming tech had advanced hugely, and consoles like the Super Nintendo were just 'uncool' with their primitive and antediluvian graphics. But now that has been turned upside down thanks in part to a huge ...

Ninja Gaiden Master Collection Review

Welcome to my review of Ninja Gaiden Master Collection. This has been brought to us by developers Team Ninja and publishers KOEI TECMO AMERICA Corporation. The game is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Ninja Gaiden Master Collection - More Of The Same. What is Ninja Gaiden Master Collection? All three of these games originally came to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with Ninja Gaiden Σ being a port of Ninja Gaiden from the original Xbox. I had the chance to play this remastered collection on the PlayStation 5 via backward compatibility for the PS4 version of the game. What did I think? Continue reading to find out...
Control Ultimate Edition Review

Control Ultimate Edition Review

Control is a third-person action-adventure title originally released in 2019 from Remedy Entertainment to acclaimed reviews. It was only right for Remedy to launch an Ultimate Edition with a next-gen upgrade. Control boots you into the mad world as protagonist Jesse Faden who has with the help of Polaris, discovered the “Oldest House” in New York City. “It Feels Sane, Or Just The Right Kind Of Insane” Having played Control when it first was released I never really got that far into the game, so I was excited to actually give it some decent time and discover more about the story and complete the story. Remedy came under fire when they announced that the only way that you could receive the next-gen version was by purchasing the Ultimate Edition which would come with both “The Foundation...

Mass Effect Legendary Edition Review

It's been roughly three years to the day since I first properly played a Mass Effect game, and then Mass Effect Legendary Edition drops into my lap.  Yeah, I was very late to the party with this trilogy. I had tried it before, but action RPGs just weren't really my thing at the time. Fast forward to 2018 and I am a different gamer, a more developed and mature gamer. So when I played it back then, I could have kicked myself for not playing it before. Instead of playing the usual first-person shooters, I could have been playing this space epic! Mass Effect opened my eyes to how truly diverse the RPG genre can be. "Just another routine mission. Why do they always say that before a mission?" For a while, Bioware had been teasing something about Mass Effect all over social media. Fans were le...

Beautiful Desolation Review

Beautiful Desolation is a story-rich, 3rd person, sci-fi adventure. Developed by THE BROTHERHOOD and published on Switch and PS4 by Untold Tales. The game was also self-published by the developers on Steam in Feb 2020. It features point-and-click mechanics, branching conversations, choices, and lots of exploration. The gameplay has a relaxed, slow pace to it, that allows you to really soak into the atmosphere and story. Beautiful Desolation - I bless the game down in Africa When I think of games that focus a lot on the narrative rather than being packed full of action it's things like Telltale games and Life is Strange. What are some of your favourite story-heavy games? Let us know below in the comments! Also, if you do like games that focus a lot on telling a story, you can check out my...

Biomutant Review

Biomutant from new development studio Experiment 101 (ex Just Cause developers) and publishers THQ Nordic has recently released. It's worth noting the Experemont 101 is a team of only 20 people. We've played it and we have some thoughts to share with you. Available now on PC (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox series X|S, PS4, and PS5. Biomutant is an open-world RPG game, filled with missions, side quests, and collectibles to keep you busy for hours! Biomutant Review - It's like Ratchet and Clank meets Devil May Cry - But cuter Ever since the reveal trailer in 2017, I have been very excited to play Biomutant. It struck me as a zany, over-the-top, open-world adventure game, and I instantly fell in love with the art style and the gameplay I saw. I couldn't wait to play it! Do I still feel the same exc...

Manifold Garden Review

Here we are today with my Manifold Garden review on the PS5. Manifold Garden was brought to us by William Chyr Studio, who developed and published this game. The game originally came out in 2019 on PC, iOS, and macOS. In 2020 the game had further releases on the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. The game is now available on Xbox Series S|X and PlayStation 5. Manifold Garden is a puzzle game where you can basically treat everything as a floor and use this to your advantage in your adventure. Manifold Garden - Everything Is A Floor - Literally! Unfortunately, this game was not for my taste. But, do not let that stop you here. Please continue to read this review as it is a brilliant creation from William Chyr. Let us know in the comments your thoughts on Manifold Garden if you've played. ...

Poker Club Playstation 4 Review

Once upon a time, I considered myself to have the best poker face in all the land.  I was that confident in my playing that when I was a bit short on cash for the month, I would organise a game with an ex-girlfriend's family.  I did this knowing full-well they just weren't very good at the game and we would fleece them every time.  Also, playing poker until 4am after hours in the pub I used to run, these were good times, but they were a very long time ago.  The less said about that poker club, the better! The only time I have played poker since has been in the form of mini-games in games such as Yakuza and Red Dead Redemption. So it's fair to say that my experience since has been a bit lacking, that's why I was keen to see what Poker Club had to offer. Poker Club - Is It A Flop Or A Ro...
