Super Street: The Game Review – V12 Monster or 1 Litre Minnow

Since Writing this review the game has had a few updates, however, the game has now started to refuse to load. Once we get it updated and it works we will revise this review to take into account the latest physics engine that has been patched in.  I love racing games, however I have never played a game where the developers have got it so wrong. The game has no realism to it whatsoever, which is a great shame, because if they had mastered the issues I think this could have been an amazing game. Super Street: The Game was released on 13th September 2018 and is available on PS4, Xbox1 and PC. It was developed by Team 6 Game Studios, and Rebel Games. The game came from a car enthusiast magazine called Super Street, founded in 1996. The magazine and online presence is based on the afterma...

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story Review – Is There Enough Depth?

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story initially looked to have been bold in delivery, however under-delivered on both RPG and strategy elements. However, upon further play, I realised that my initial thoughts were a tad harsh. If you look past the weakness of the building elements of the game and focus on the RPG side, it’s a much-improved experience. Developed by Agate and published by Pqube. It is an action RPG, with a dabble into the building genre. Recently launched onto the Nintendo Switch, Steam and PS4. I’ve not played the variations on PC or PS4, however, I can’t help but feel consoles got the raw end of the deal with this game, due to some of the control limitations. Gameplay You begin the game being notified that you’re going to become the new Principle of Valthira Academy, as y...

Steel Rats Review – Like A Bat Outta Hell

Steel Rats by Polish based Tate Multimedia (the devs behind the Urban Trial games) is out now on Playstation and PC and is a retro futuristic 2.5D motorbike combat game set in an explosive 1940's diesel-soaked America whereby you ride through the districts of Coastal City destroying pretty much everything that gets in your path using your motorbike.  With the ability to turn your front wheel into a firey spinning disc, robots and even parked cars feel your wrath as you speed along the various platforms of the levels slicing through them like a hot knife through butter, all be it with a few explosions along the way.  When I played Steel Rats earlier in the year at EGX Rezzed in London I found myself getting a little frustrated with the controls.  Let's see how the final release performs! ...

The Shapeshifting Detective Review – Crime Thriller With A Twist

I knew nothing about The Shapeshifting Detective before I played it. I was expecting a game where you explore your environment, find clues and interact with NPC’s. It's not often that a game gives you a new experience. An unusual style of gameplay and a genuinely new experience. But after 4 hours of gameplay I had to sit back and recognise that, for me at least, this was something I had never encountered before. I knew I was well out of my comfort zone in gaming when I found myself trying to seduce my landlady’s secret lover to get him to confess to murdering someone else. A position I rarely find myself in. The Shapeshifting Detective from Wales Interactive is a mash up of a videogame, adventure book (you know the ones where you decide which page to turn to), and a 1950’s radio dram...

Strange Brigade: The Thrice Damned DLC Review – Continuing The Chaos

As you may know, I absolutely loved the Strange Brigade main game, check out the review here. So it was only natural that the latest DLC The Thrice Damned would be right up my street? Right? Lets take a look. Whats New So essentially we join up with the Strange Brigade in The Thrice Damned, a separate story to the main game that thankfully doesnt give you any spoilers as to what happens during your main jaunt into the unknown. Having played through the first two episodes of the The Thrice Damned, Isle Of The Dead and Sunken Kingdom, before we get to the end I thought it was best that I get my thoughts on paper before the third instalment is released this month. So what does The Thrice Damned bring to the party...well a couple of new characters, Tessie Caldwell and Hachiro Shimuz...

GRIP: Combat Racing Review – Too Fast…TOO Fast!

Before I start going into the review for GRIP: Combat Racing, I just want to leave a gif showing how it makes you feel. Now onto the review. Gameplay In simplistic terms, GRIP: Combat Racing is a track racer, with a splattering of arena combat thrown in for good measure. Loading up the game you are greeted with the main menu, where you can get access to the campaign, single player, online and split screen elements of the game as well as the garage where you can customise your cars with decals and new colourings. Diving into the campaign, you essentially go through tiers of events designed to ease you into the game as well as challenge your skills as a racer. The further up the tier tree you get the faster and more difficult the game becomes, starting with a nice gentle pace, ev...

Heliophobia Review – Dreams Can Become Nightmares

Here we are again. Halloween is here again, everyone digs out their horror games or treats themselves to a new one.  Luckily enough for me I got treated to a new game to enter the horror genre. Heliophobia is a game by Glass Knuckle Games and is available on Steam. Gameplay Heliophobia drops you straight into the game to give you that added sense of  mystery. This is a good start for the game and something I liked about it. Initially to me the game felt like the famous P.T demo on PlayStation as the first section completed through me back to the start. Or what I thought was the start. As I stepped out onto the stage for the first time I noticed a long line of doors marked Audition and Standby. Heliophobia instantly feels like it's going to be a long windy path filled with scares and ...

Warhammer 40,000 Inquisitor Martyr Review – Bloodfest

Warhammer has always been a piece of my life.  I remember the early days of playing D&D style adventures during lunch breaks at school that culminated in epic battles using carefully painted figurines that spread across a battlefield of huge proportions in the common room.  The Warhammer club was in full swing! The Warhammer universe has made steady progression across digital platforms for many years and Neocore's latest offering, Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr finally hit consoles in Summer.  For the sake of this article I am going to refer to the game simply as Martyr from now on. Are you ready to purge the unclean and protect the Imperium from corruption?  Lets get on with it! Gameplay In a first for the Warhammer 40K Universe, Martyr is branded as an open-world s...

Dakar 18 Review – The Road To Nowhere

Developed by Bigmoon Entertainment, Published by Deep Silver, and based around the Dakar Rally. For those that don’t know the Dakar Rally, it is a rally race that is an off-road endurance event. The terrain that the competitors traverse is much tougher than that used in conventional rallying, and the vehicles used are true off-road vehicles rather than modified on-road vehicles. Dakar 18  is available on Playstation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. Gameplay As the game loads in, you are presented with a very quick, very brief training introduction in the form of your “co-navigator” shouting at you. For me, as a variety gamer, I personally struggled with this as the industry jargon was straight over my head. I persevered on, once I’d been through the brief training, into the first “tut...
