Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries Review – All Systems Nominal

Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries is a game that I have been waiting for since about 2005. The Mechwarrior series has been all but dead since the last iteration released in 2002, aside from the online multiplayer-only Mechwarrior: Online. There hasn't been a single-player entry in the series since Mechwarrior 4 launched on PC in 2002. Now, finally, Piranha Games is bringing us giant stompy robots in a single-player game. Originally slated for release in December 2018, Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries was met with a slew of delays, pushing it back to December 10th 2019.  Now the time is here to hop in our BattleMechs and take on the review. Reactor: Online. Sensors: Online. Weapons: Online. All Systems Nominal. Let's do this, Pilots. Gameplay Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries is a first-person BattleMech...

AVICII Invector Review – Rhythmic EDM Awesomeness

AVICII Invector is a rhythmic action music-based game created by Swedish devs Hello There Games and published by Wired Productions.  It is released for Playstation, Xbox and PC on 10th December 2019 and on Nintendo Switch in early 2020. The late artist AVICII (Tim Bergling), was a legend to me when it came to electronic dance music as he brought a very distinct uplifting melody and beat to each song that he created or remixed.  His sudden death back in 2018 was gutting not only to his friends and family, but also to his fans around the world.  For developer Hello There Games, they were in the middle of creating Avicii Invector with him, with development starting back in 2015.  What began as a collaboration has in fact now become a legacy to AVICII.  So what was this game they were creat...

Arizona Sunshine The Damed DLC PSVR Review – I’ll Be Damned!!!

New from Vertigo Games and Jaywalkers Interactive comes some further DLC for their Zombie shootem up /survival game Arizona Sunshine. The Damned is the second DLC released for the game and acts as a prequel to both the game itself and the previously released DLC Dead Man. So is this extra slice of Zombie slaying DLC worth a look? Read on to find out..... Gameplay First of all Vertigo Games must be congratulated on a puntactic game title as The Damned takes place, yes you've guessed it, on, in and around a huge hydro-electric dam in the Arizona desert. The game opens with you in the familiar airstream trailer from the main game and The Damned is started by inserting the appropriate named videotape into the VCR. This can be a mission in itself as you need to get to grips with how the c...

Trover Saves the Universe Review – Surreal Space Odyssey

If you’re familiar with Rick and Morty, Accounting or anything else by the extremely talented Justin Roiland, then you know exactly what to expect from Trover Saves the Universe: a crazy nonsensical adventure.  As soon as the game starts, a giant Abstainer named Glorkon steals your puppies and inserts them into his eyeballs in order to destroy the universe. As a result of this, you befriend Trover, and together you have the task of hunting down the psychopath in order to save the universe and more importantly, your puppies. From that paragraph alone, you should know whether or not this is the type of game for you. At the forefront of the game is the humour. Trover and the range of bizarre secondary characters’ ad libbing will keep you laughing, chuckling and sniggering through...

SuperEpic Nintendo Review – Supergood

SuperEpic, developed by Undercoders and published by Numskull games, is an action platformer with strong Metroidvania elements... wait, come back! Yes, Metroidvania games are ten a penny at this point, but SuperEpic innovates with its intriguing "cross-media" features, taking the experience beyond the console. Gameplay SuperEpic is set in an alternate reality in which a greedy company called RegnantCorp, which is literally run by pigs, have brain-washed the world's population into constantly playing terrible, loot-box and microtransaction-ridden games.  You play as TanTan, a household object-wielding raccoon who rides atop a llama called Ola. I was initially put off by story of SuperEpic, which I found a bit too memey and ham-fisted (pardon the pun). These reservations melted away...
