Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is Simulation game that comes from in house from Nintendo. This is the long awaited sequel to the Tomodachi Life game that was on the DS. Which was over 10 years ago and was a really popular game to play. Originally I watched this one Youtuber called Vinesauce and that’s all they wrote. The random things that happen in the game while you’re away is even funnier. When you pick up the game, you can create Miis of yourself, real people or characters from any fictional world.
Now I will say this, this game takes time and you can rush through it by certain means. However, I recommend that you take your time and enjoy the journey and the life the game creates for itself. Now let’s set back and allow the review to take on a life of its own.
What do you mean the best way to cure hiccups is back smacking the back of someone’s head?!

Island Life Style
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is honestly the most turn off your brain game you can ever play. It’s similar to the Sims only with less thinking and responsibility to have since no one will perish. Or if you forget to feed anyone food, you’ll never need to feed them unless they ask. It’s even better that we can just put down the game and come back to something weird that happened. For example, I put down my Switch and came back to find out that my Mii and my close friend got into a fight.
Now there are some major upgrades from the DS version. Especially in the housing options, where it went from an apartment to us becoming Oprah Winfrey. Because EVERYONE’S GETTING A BRAND NEW HOUSE!!! This is a major upgrade…only you’re still confined into a box of your things and emotions. But now we experience crazier, unpredictable and wackier things and it’s still portable or on the TV. We’re in the future and we have options!

Come on! It’s just a cat photo on a cake!
Now when it comes to the Mii creation choices, we grew but also took a step back. The reason I say this is because they could have used the same options from Miitopia. There’s also the fact that we’re not able to do something similar to putting in a code to get said Mii. But if Mitopia used this system, we could have brought it over.
Luckily, we aren’t limited too strongly when it comes to customizing each Mii. We are limited to the size and location of any part we use and also limited on parts we create and move. Sure we can draw it on, Yet, not all of us can use a stylus to make amazing creations. I’m even more impressed by the animated cutscenes that make you laugh and wonder about life. But also cry from the touching moment your Miis get married and even have a child. Which then later makes me laugh from the choices the game picked for the baby’s features!
We’re also still using photographs of different things that aren’t something that could have upped the memory usage. Yet, it’s fully understood since we don’t need everything to be 3-d. Everything from photos taken for the treasures to even the different photos of the world traveling is gorgeous! It is pretty adorable watching the cut out of a dog following their owner.
Now with the music of the game, we do have a nice selection of music that’s both calm and cozy…unless something happens. Some events that our residents star in just has some very wacky tones that work. You can close your eyes and listen to the voices of your Miis taking in the scene. Remember you choose the voice that each and every Mii you create. You are god! You cannot complain of a choice that you had your hand in making.

WHY IS SAMURAI ARMOR $794?!!?
Now, there isn’t a completion per say in the game. Yet, there is an endless possibility to what kind of world you’d be creating. Lucky, just like in Miitopia, the community already has come together to help others make some Miis. From having images on what choices to even tutorials on how to bring things over. I would advise that you’re allowed to have 70 Miis on the island.
Which you might start on a small island, it grows for every 10th resident you add to the game. And with the wishes you make on the fountains using the Fuzzy Feelings you collect from the residents. Use them to unlock the rest of the items and features that become available the more wishes you grant. Collect and discover more about your Mii that no one could understand…well beside the codes in it.

Red Light, Green Light, Gold Light
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is going to be the one game I’ll be coming back to daily during my breaks and lunches. Watching some Mii become friends, making games that make you ask “I beg your finest pardon!?” If you have friends who get the game and you want to bring over your Mii, you’ll need to be near one another. Or you can have the choices they made about their Mii and copy their choices.
There are a few things that annoyed me about this version of the game: the lack of visiting friend’s islands or exchanging Miis unless you are next to one another. We’ve had examples that Nintendo can do it, but just choose not to do it.
Sure they’ll be the same, but they’ll be completely different in their code. Now go out there and create the island life Animal Crossing wouldn’t give you!
I give Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream the Thumb Culture Gold Award!
