Pairing up with the budget keyboard review earlier today, we now move on to a budget headset from those awesome people at Corsair. This time it’s the HS35 V3 Wireless Gaming Headset. Retailing at under £70 and again comes in either black or white. This PC / PlayStation / Switch headset has a few tricks up its sleeve. It’s my job to find out just what makes it tick.
Comfort, Budget, Features: The Trinity
With a tagline of “Awesome Audio Anywhere”, Corsair are raising the bar on what is effectively a budget headset. However, you might be left doubting why the price tag isn’t substantially bigger? My job is to give you the highlights and whether or not you should pick up this headset with your next pay cheque. Allow me to open the door for you…
Design Features
Let’s start off with the connectivity of the HS35. With a 2.4GHz dongle included, which can be either USB-A or C, you can plug it straight into any device with that input and get plug-and-play compatibility. The headset is also compatible with any Bluetooth connection, increasing the number of devices that you can use this headset with. With a battery life that gives you up to 30 hours of wireless connectivity, with one proviso: you only use your volume at 50%. If you want a little juice, then an extra 2 hours can be gained using the Bluetooth connection.
With a pair of 50mm Neodymium drivers, delivering impressive audio, whatever you are using it for. Alongside Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio when connected to a PC. Obviously, this requires you to have the Dolby Access app to get the most out of the audio. The HS35 gives great, crisp audio and elevates the small details around you so that every footstep, every slightest noise, is all delivered straight into your ears.
Now don’t worry, the HS35 also comes with a detachable omnidirectional mic to ensure you have crystal-clear communication when playing online with your buddies. I have spent a lot of time playing Borderlands 4 with friends, and there have been no issues with my microphone quality. Communication is always clear and never garbled. Being removable, you can use the HS35 on the move. Whether it’s out for a walk listening to music, or even on the train playing games on your Nintendo Switch or on your Steam Deck. If you are using this on the go, you have a comfortable floating headband and fabric ear pads, all weighing 250g.
Final Thoughts
Corsair has once again raised the bar with this budget-friendly headset. Honestly, weighing less than 250g, and priced at under £70. With these features! You’d be remiss if you didn’t believe it, but it’s true! If you need to get a new headset and your budget doesn’t quite hit the higher end of even the HS80 headset range, then the HS35 is perfect.
