Sleeping Dogs – Future Retro Classic – Where’s our sequel?

Developed by United Front Games and published by Square Enix, is the 2012 video game Sleeping Dogs. A no holds barred open-world action game. First released for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC in 2012. It was later released as Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition on Xbox One and Playstation 4 with additional content. So let's dive into this Sleeping Dogs Future Retro Classic. Sleeping Dogs - Was it better than GTA? With the success of the Grand Theft Auto series, it seemed like everyone was throwing their hat into the mix to make an open-world action game. So Square Enix came out guns blazing with Sleeping Dogs. An absolute gem of a video game back in the early 2010s and what a pleasure it is to play this again. If you enjoy this review then why not check out my latest post here. You can...

10 Seafaring Games Fit For A Sea Shanty

2021 is shaping up to be an interesting year. While we still live a COVID world, there has arisen a new trend on social media. While people may try to avoid popular trends, it is near impossible to avoid sea shanties. So, while you’re listening to another remix of The Wellerman, or adding your unique beats to Drunken Sailor, here are some seafaring games that would pair perfectly with a good song or two. Some of these are older games, but they are available through Steam or GOG. Sea of Thieves Sea of Thieves is one of the most popular pirate games out there right now. You can sail the seas in search of plunder or complete missions given to you by various trading companies. This is a perfect game for a single player who just wants to relax and sail the seas or for those who enjoy t...

Immortals Fenyx Rising Review – Fun and Monsters

After a strange reveal, under the former name Gods and Monsters. Followed by a delay, we finally have Immortals Fenyx Rising. The game was originally thought up by the crew behind Assassin's Creed Odyssey with the aim of exploring Greek mythology with greater depth. The name change was rumoured to be because Monster energy wasn't happy with the use of the word "Monsters". Whether there is any truth to that, we'll likely never know. Having the title as Immortals does, however allow the creators to explore other mythologies in the future which I can see working well. Immortals Fenyx Rising is an open world adventure game where you play as the titular hero Fenyx. You get to create this character using some basic tools, which ultimately help you make Fenyx your own. Immortals Fenyx ...

Planet Coaster Console Edition – A Coaster Of A Time

Planet Coaster Console Edition is a construction and management simulation video game developed and published by Frontier Developments for consoles. Planet Coaster Console Edition is a fresh experience and rebranding of the much-loved rollercoaster management series. It offers witty banter and allows you to enjoy the lighter side of running theme parks. Many of you may have enjoyed this game on PC for the last few years. However, the console version brings the love of theme park management to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, including next-gen upgrades. 'Originally named Coaster Park Tycoon, the game was renamed before E3 2015, Planet Coaster Console Edition is Frontier's second self-published title with Elite Dangerous being their first. Frontier are also well known for the Rollercoaster Tyco...

The Falconeer Review – Sky Of Thieves…

The Falconeer is the debut title from Tomas Sala, an independent Dutch developer. Published by Wired Productions and launching for the Xbox Series X. The Falconeer is an open-world, flight game. You wouldn't be remiss to note the style is of course similar to Xbox's own Sea of Thieves, only instead of a boat you have a mighty falcon! This is one of the few games landing on the Xbox Series X that isn't on Game Pass. Fortunately though it's unique enough to not have been buried and also lands at a respectable £24.99 RRP. Currently it is exclusive to Microsoft and at this stage it's not clear whether or not there are plans for a PlayStation or Switch launch in the future. The Falconeer - The next generation takes flight... Admittedly The Falconeer was not on my radar until quite clos...

Demolish & Build – Half Built?

If knocking down buildings and literally starting a construction firm from the ground up is your idea of heaven, you’re going to love Demolish & Build, a console-friendly construction simulator developed by Noble Muffins and published by Ultimate Games. Demolish & Build is available on Xbox One and Nintendo Switch as a console-based update to 2018’s PC version of the game. I jumped into Demolish & Build having never touched a construction sim game before. As a first experience, I have to say I'm kind of on the fence about this game. It ended up leaving me with questions about whether or not dogged perseverance (as is so often required in real-life building) actually translates that well into an enjoyable gaming experience. After a fairly confusing and buggy initial play, ...

Saints Row: The Third Remastered Review- Saint or Sinner?

Remastered versions of the previous generation's classic games are all the vogue at the moment. Some welcome, some not so. It seems as if developers are holding back the brand new games for the much anticipated new generation of consoles (although the current Covid-19 pandemic has not helped!). The next game hot off the remastered production line is Saints Row: The Third Remastered. Published by Deep Silver and developed by Volition the much-loved game first released in 2011 gets a makeover for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Having played the game the first time around on my PS3 I was keen to revisit Steelport and see if it was still fun to rampage around the city in a crazy costume wielding the legendary Dildo Bat (no that isn't a typo!). Read on to find out how I got on. Gameplay If you...

Atlas PC Review – Yo Ho Ho and a Barrel of Rum Required

Grapeshot Games and Instinct Games bring us Atlas, a game of ruling the high seas. Have they managed to collect all the pieces of eight, or are they lost at the bottom of Davey Jones' locker? Time to slip into my eye patch and bandana and find out for myself. Gameplay Standard WASD movement keys? Check. Mouse rotation? Check. Click to attack? Check. Well what else do I need to know, let's take over the joint. Atlas at first seems to be a standard survival game. All the attributes are there, food, water, health, crafting, yup, looks like a survival game to me. Walk in the park. Instructions appear on the screen in ghastly text, 1/10 in the corner, so I should probably read them. My reading skills are not the quickest, I like to understand the instructions and take them all...
