Well, we’ve made it to the third week of September. And the September PlayStation releases show no sign of slowing down. Each week I’ve been picking a couple of new releases to highlight, as well as giving you the full release rundown. This week marks an extra special week for PlayStation, marking their 30th anniversary. So expect some surprises and deals from Friday.

The Plucky Squire (PS5) Free as Part of PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium – September 17th

“The Plucky Squire” is a magical adventure story about Jot and his friends, who are characters in a storybook. They discover a three-dimensional world outside the pages of their book. When the villain, Humgrump, realizes that he’s destined to lose the battle against the forces of good, he kicks the hero, Jot, out of the pages and changes the story forever. Jot must face unprecedented challenges to save his friends from Humgrump’s dark forces and restore the book’s happy ending. Players can jump between 2D and 3D worlds in this action adventure, solving puzzles, boxing badgers, flying with a jetpack, and experiencing many more delightful and surprising mini-challenges, as they become the hero of a living storybook.

Keylocker (PS5) – September 18th

Keylocker is a Cyberpunk turn based rhythm JRPG inspired by the Mario & Luigi RPG series and Chrono Trigger, in which you play as the singer and songwriter, BOBO. In this silent world where music has been prohibited, BOBO will serenade her rebellion against the vicious authorities by banding together with the Jukebot drummer, Rocket, to shatter the strings of fate and sing the melody of freedom. Fuel your moves with the electric power of music in this unforgiving planet by using real-time execution of moves in rhythm game style! Battle the authorities, unlock the secrets of the planet, play on your own bands’ concerts and hack into the network to bring an end to this corrupt system, for better or worse.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster (PS5) – September 19th

Capcom’s Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released on September 19th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, with a physical release to follow. This remastered version of the original 2006 game, in which players take on the role of photojournalist Frank West investigating a zombie-infested mall in Colorado, features updated visuals, quality of life improvements, and more. The game includes enhanced character models, evolved mall designs with real-time lighting and shadow effects, and supports 4K resolutions at 60fps.

Frostpunk 2 (PS5) – 20th September

Frostpunk 2 is an eagerly awaited sequel to the original BAFTA nominated Frostpunk. The game is known for its unique blend of city-building, strategy, and management gameplay, which has contributed to the creation of a whole new gaming genre. Set 30 years after a devastating blizzard, Frostpunk 2 unfolds in a world still gripped by endless frost and extreme weather conditions. Rather than focusing solely on survival, Frostpunk 2 introduces a deeper layer of complexity by placing the player in the role of a steward tasked with leading a resource-hungry metropolis. In this sequel, the challenges go beyond mere survival as players grapple with the evolving political landscape and strive to not only survive but also rebuild society.

We are now halfway through September and have seen a strong contender for GOTY with Astrobot. With Mickey Mouse Rebrushed and EA Sports FC 25 still to come, how has September been for you? Let us know in the comments section below
