0 The LEGO Icons line just keeps on being, well, iconic. Take the new LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: The Shire set for example. The set in itself is incredible and any self respecting LOTR fan will be besides themselves at the sight of it. But LEGO knew this wasn’t enough. Which is where Sean Astin aka Samwise Gamgee in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, comes in. To celebrate the launch of the set Astin stars in an exclusive mini-film.

The minifilm may only be 1 minute and 28 seconds long, but it’s well worth a watch. Why wouldn’t you want even a brief glimpse of The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy recreated with love in LEGO bricks? Echoing the iconic Osgiliath monologue and cross-cutting sequences that define the films, the mini-film features Sean Astin taking viewers on a personal tour through the set. From Bilbo’s hobbit-hole, complete with its iconic round green door, to the nine included minifigures the set brings this iconic Hobbington scene to life. Who are these minifigures I hear you exclaim. Well they would be Bilbo Baggins, Frodo, Mrs. Proudfoot, Farmer Proudfoot, Merry, Pippin, Rosie Cotton, Samwise Gamgee, and Gandalf the Grey naturally.
What LEGO set would be complete without interactive elements. From turning a handle to transform a burning letter into The One Ring to making Bilbo vanish or recreating the dragon firework scene with interchangeable heads for Merry and Pippin. This set has everything a Lord of the Rings fan could want. The set also includes Gandalf’s horse and cart, fireworks, a firework dragon figure, the Party Tree, a party pavilion, and Bilbo’s book, which can be displayed open or closed.
