If you play a lot of mobile games, then you have probably heard of the Kishi range from Razer. We’ve recently covered the Razer Kishi Ultra, which got our Gold Award, but can the new Razer Kishi V3 do the same? Retailing at around £99.99, it isn’t exactly cheap, but if you play a lot of mobile games, then this is a pretty handy piece of hardware.

V3, must be better, right?

Coming in a few different models, the new V3 range features the standard V3, the V3 Pro and the V3 Pro XL. We were lucky enough to get send the base model to trial run. Join us as we check out the design features below.

Design Features

Straight out of the box, you quickly get that very typical Razer product. Well made, sturdy and plenty of instructions to get you started. Thankfully, the Razer Kishi V3 is straight forward to setup. Just plug your phone’s USB-C port into the Kishi and it instantly gets recognised. There is a nice Razer Nexus button, which, if you have the app installed, will fire it straight into there. Having recently got the Xbox Game Pass accessible on my mobile, I set to work. Firing up Forza Horizon 5, I took to the track and instantly felt at home. The buttons were in a familiar position due to the full-sized controller form factor.

Let’s get racing!

With a couple of extra back buttons added for those custom control setups. The Razer Kishi V3 just felt at ease; however, I made use of it. Whether that was playing a high speed racing game or even something a bit more chill, such as Powerwash Simulator, it handles everything incredibly well. Out of the box, you can make use of the Kishi V3 either with the aforementioned Xbox Game Pass, or even the PS Remote Play or GeForce Now. You can even use the controller on your PC by using a USB-C cable, then you can even use the Razer Nexus desktop app and play whatever you want! Pretty neat! Razer have even tried to make the controller fit regardless of what case you might have. With a few little rubber gromits included, it helps to keep your phone safe and secure.

Add into the mix USB-C pass through charging and a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones. The Razer Kishi V3 is a neat piece of kit, and no doubt anyone who purchases it will absolutely love their newest piece of technology.

Final Thoughts

I’ll be entirely honest, I’m not much of a mobile gamer. However, there is something about using one of these controllers that makes it feel a bit more “real”. From the first minute you get hold of the Razer Kishi V3, you know what you are going to get. A great piece of engineering that takes what Razer have done previously and just tweaks it. Just enough to be able to roll it out as a new model.

Thankfully, those tweaks and additions are enough to help maintain the Razer Kishi V3 in getting a Thumb Culture Gold Award.
