Call of Duty: WWII Reveal Reactions

So we just sat and watched the latest reveal for Sledgehammer's newest game and it did not disappoint. The trailer shows off a gritty and visceral experience and as usual there are plenty of Hollywood moments and set pieces. It starts off familiar with the beach landing at Normandy and then we get a glimpse of other areas, from the fields of northern France to a woodland environment.  This game looks the part but will it play the part. Sledgehammer have brought in a historian to tell the story of 'Red' Daniels and you are playing through his eyes. It promises to be epic and with the game being based in '44-'45 you will experience great moments in the war. From what we see the game will play on your fear levels and with no regenerative health you want to keep yourself alive. Take s...

Late Shift Review – The Decisions Are You

Late Shift is a high stakes FMV crime thriller. Forced into a brutal London heist, you must choose your own adventure in this interactive cinematic experience. With adaptable storylines that lead to one of seven conclusions. Gameplay You play the character of Matt, a valet parking attendant in London. Decisions that you make determine his actions throughout Late Shift. These decisions vary from whether you should give a pretty blonde keys to a high performance sports car, to deciding whether to go up or down in an elevator. After I found the first ending and getting attached to Matt all bets were off in the following playthroughs. I sent him running from gunfire, abandoning any kind of selfless attitudes and only thinking about myself. Each experience followed generally the same story...

What Makes A Good Remaster?

Remastered games make up a large amount of game releases both in the past and in the future. With some big names getting the remaster treatment such as The Last Of Us and Modern Warfare, to the more independent titles such as Duck Tales and Another World, but as each of these remasters get released, are they really needed or are they just game developers trying to make a quick buck. Let's delve into why I think that remasters are swiftly becoming its own genre, and what makes a good remaster and a not so good one! Remasters allow gamers who might not have had the chance to play all the games in a series before What I'm saying here is that for example the previously released Assassins Creed Ezio Collection containing 3 previous games, Assassins Creed 2, Brotherhood and Revelations, the...

Old Time Hockey Review – Slap Shot or Slap Stick?

Ice hockey is known as a brutal, unrelenting sport with hard hits and heavy body checks all the while trying to fit the small puck between small gaps between the goal tenders pads and the netted goal. Old Time Hockey by V7 Entertainment tries to focus on the brutality of the game, with the game returning to the 70s with its afro hair, big moustaches, a severe lack of helmets and bench clearing brawls. Old Time Hockey plays out as you would expect, five verses five on the ice, a view that comes straight from ice hockey games of old, and a unique style with vibrant colours and over the top graphics. With only a few modes to play, the game concentrates on the gameplay in the exhibition mod. You take control of any of the teams that are playable and play a single match, it's the epitome ...

Hidden Folks Review – Hand Drawn

Hidden Folks, by Adriaan De Jongh is a Where’s Wally Clone with a few massive differences. The graphics are hand drawn, black and white, and the sound is all created through mouth, every sound effect from clicking on monkeys, to opening tent doors, they are all voiced by Mr De Jongh and this gives it some great comic relief. Some of the sound effects are basic, but the buzz buzz buzz of the buzzing bees is always fun to listen to. Anyone familiar with Where’s Wally will know the reference at the top of the review, those that aren’t aware of the series of books, essentially you are tasked with finding Wally in the page of the book as well as finding other items throughout the world. It is this game mechanics that Hidden Folks is all about. You get given a list of items to find before...

Typoman Revised Review – Word Up

So I recently got the opportunity to play and enjoy Typoman Revised, and boy did it not dissapoint, from the graphics to the gameplay it was an absolute delight to play. Well not really! So lets start at the begining, Typoman Revised is developed and published by Brainseed Factory, an independant games company from Germany and is available on the Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Wii U and PS4 (reviewed) Typoman is a puzzle platformer, which see's you trying to beat each screen by using words to solve puzzles ranging from simple to damn hard. Now i struggle with word puzzles, give me numbers any day of the week, but words are a different kettle of fish for me. You play as the HERO (with the letters making up your body) and you are thrown into this dark and dreary Limbo-esque world where monsters a...
