September will be a massive month for PlayStation gamers with many highly anticipated games being released. That’s no exaggeration, there is at least one highly anticipated title every week. With too many to list in just one article, I’ll be coming to you each week with the release list as well as my top picks from each release day of the upcoming week. Let’s get into it!
The Casting of Frank Stone (PS5) – September 3rd
The Casting of Frank Stone is an interactive drama horror from the minds of ‘Until Dawn’ creators SuperMassive Games. Taking place within the Dead by Daylight universe players will find themselves captivated by a chilling mystery where every decision can have serious repercussions.
Your adventure takes place in the town of Cedar Hills in Oregon, however unlike it’s real life counterpart this town has a dark and violent history. Players have the unique experience of being able to explore more of the Dead by Daylight universe. Streamers and viewers alike can experience The Casting of Frank Stone together. With the Twitch Integration feature, viewers can vote on each choice throughout the game. Streamers will have a limited number of vetoes to override a decision, should they disagree with the audience’s choice.
Gimmick! 2 (PS5, PS4) – September 5th
Playing as Yumetaro the green yokai, players venture through the sequel to his first game, 10 years into the distant future where he will face entirely new and exciting obstacles, enemies and rewards. Play through in easier assisted mode or authentic ‘Gimmick!’ mode.
Thanks to being a yokai (that is, a ghost or spirit), Yumetaro is able to summon and throw a star with magical properties: it bounces off of things but also inherits and keeps his momentum, so it can be used for all kinds of purposes (activating switches, fighting enemies, reaching distant platforms and points or areas where the story is unveiled). A lot of skill is needed in order to master the bouncing physics with the star and in order to keep the momentum or to rely on it. That’s the fun of Gimmick! 2, experimenting with the star in different ways so as to unlock new possibilities.
Astro Bot (PS5) – September 6th
ASTRO is boldly going on an exciting new mission against a galactic nemesis. Thanks to some cool new power-ups, like springy punches and super rockets boosts, ASTRO can help the crew band together to save the mothership and revive everyone. Astro Bot is available exclusively on PS5 consoles. Band together with PlayStation’s coolest characters, and host a family gathering to usher in a new era of gaming for the small, but mighty ASTRO.
In 2013, a remarkable evolution began when these little bots were introduced as an addition to The Playroom on PlayStation 4. Initially utilized for tech demos, their transformation culminated in Team Asobi positioning them as the new PlayStation mascot, displacing Sackboy.
There you have it. Those are my top 3 September on PlayStation picks for this upcoming week! What do you think? Any must haves for you too?
