In today’s Pokémon Presents, we got a great new look at upcoming titles, together with the latest events for their mobile games, exciting information about upcoming shows, and an unexpected new launch!
Were our expectations met?
While there are still no news on a potential remake of Generation 5, which deeply disappoints me on a personal level, there have been some great announcements and fun updates in today’s Pokémon Presents! They shared a lot of news about Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Champions, which I can’t wait to go over with you! So, let’s not waste any more time and get into the good stuff.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Let’s start off with the announcement you are probably the most curious about: Pokémon Legends: Z-A. We’ve gotten a lot of new information today, so I will break it down as best as I can.
You will get to meet a colorful cast of new friends who will invite you to join Team MZ, whose objective it is to protect the city of Lumiose! But it’s not just new faces; you also get to see some characters you may have already encountered in previous adventures in the Kalos region, like Detective Emma, who will ask you for a hand with her detective work! Some wild Pokémon have been mega-evolving on their own and are going rogue in the city. They can’t contain their own strength and are incredibly dangerous. You will need to team up with an ally from Team MZ to take them down! Here, we get a great look at a newly unvealed mega evolution: Mega Dragonite, sporting some features of it’s previous evolutions!
But it’s not all battles and drama; you also get to enjoy yourself and explore the city. Go on shopping sprees or get a fresh haircut to match your style. If that’s not for you, you can just hang out with your Pokémon, relax and snap some pictures, or lend a hand to other people around the city to complete some side missions. If you are more into catching Pokémon, consider helping out Mable. This former Team Flare scientist is now the acting director of the Pokémon Research Lab. Aid her research by catching Pokémon and receive useful items in return!
Finally, we now got a release date: October 16th.
While there are still some parts that I’d be curious to learn more about, I am absolutely looking forward to this game.
Pokémon Champions
Another release that we were dying to get more information on is Pokémon Champions! This game will allow you to take part in Pokémon battles across platforms and with more ease.
The game lets you take part in both Ranked and Private Battles, so you can fight both trainers around the world as well as your friends, in either Single or Double Battles!
You can team up with your old Pokémon partners via Pokémon HOME, or you can recruit new partners to battle alongside you from within Pokémon Champions itself! It appears as if you can recruit them for either a seven-day trial for free, or permanently by spending 1.000 VP. While you can see them spending said VP currency throughout the trailer, it has not yet been explained how you can obtain it.
In this trailer, they have also introduced a new way to train your Pokémon, offering ways to make raising them more flexible and convenient than ever! It seems as if you can distribute your Pokémon’s EVs freely, which is much nicer than grinding it like you have to in the mainline games. You can teach them any move from their learnset and even choose their nature! This, again, costs VP, which I hope they will give us more details on in the future.
The release of Pokémon Champions is set to be in 2026 for both Switch and mobile devices.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
A new Tera Raid Battle Event for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will begin tomorrow, July 23rd. Over the course of the next few weeks, you will be able to encounter the special shiny variants of the ruinous Pokémon Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, Ting-Lu and Chi-Yu in Tera Raid Battles! However, in order to add one of these special Pokémon to your team, it will have to be defeated an entire one million times. Now that’s a big number! Everyone will have to work together to meet the goal and snag those special shiny variants.
While this event is taking place, Mass Outbreaks of Grass-, Ice-, Ground-, and Fire-Type Pokémon will appear across the region too! The schedule is as follows:
Wo-Chien Raid & Grass-Type Outbreaks:
- July 23rd – August 3rd
Chien-Pao Raid & Ice-Type Outbreaks:
- August 4th – August 17th
Ting-Lu Raid & Ground-Type Outbreaks:
- August 18th – August 31st
Chi-Yu Raid & Fire-Type Outbreaks:
- September 1st – September 14th
On top of that, you can claim a new, free tracksuit apparel item via the Mystery Gift feature. Just use code STRACKSU1T in Pokémon Scarlet or code VTRACKSU1T in Pokémon Violet to receive it!
Pokémon Friends
“Enjoy that “Eureka!” moment every day”. Pokémon Friends is a brand-new puzzle game for Nintendo Switch, Android and iOS that will be available today! Solve a variety of daily puzzles, collect yarn to make your own plushies and use them to decorate your in-game plush rooms!
Now, I really did not expect them to drop yet another mobile game out of the blue, let alone one that will be released immediately. This game seems to aim at a younger audience, though I can completely see the appeal to a more mature audience that is maybe seeking to unwind after a long day, or to just take a little break and solve some fun puzzles on their phone.
Pokémon GO
Enter Pokémon GO‘s biggest event yet! Pokémon GO Fest 2025: Max Finale is the grand conclusion of this year’s GO Fest events. This free-to-enter event will run from August 23rd to August 24th and can be joined from anywhere in the world! During this event, Eternatus will make its global debut. Face your biggest challenge yet and take on Eternamax Eternatus for a chance to earn large quantities of Eternatus Candy and Eternatus Candy XL.
It will directly follow the event Pokémon GO: Dark Skies, which runs from August 18th to August 23rd, in which you will be able to enjoy a gauntlet of raids, Max Battles and more! You will even get a chance to battle every Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon that has appeared in the game up until now! The legendary crowns, Zacian and Zamazenta, will also return to raids during this time, receiving a special buff during the GO Pass: Max Finale event to help trailers progress through the GO Pass even faster!
Additionally, you can use code GOFESTMAX to start a special timed research to claim either Gigantamax Rillaboom, Cinderace or Inteleon!
For more information, you can visit the official Pokémon GO website.
Pokémon Masters EX
A new small update for Pokémon Masters EX has also been announced! The new sync pair, Carmine & Sinistcha, will be joining the game on Tuesday, July 29th. To celebrate the occasion, log into the game before August 22nd to claim 3.000 gems for free!
Pokémon Café ReMix
Lapras in its new five-star sea captain outfit will appear in Pokémon Café ReMix tomorrow! And it has some fun, sea-adventure-themed decorations in tow as well! But more friends are set to join, as you will be able to recruit Alolan Meowth, Totodile, and Minccino to the crew. Each of them will be wearing their own special themed outfits, and, spoiler alert, they are absolutely adorable.
You will be able to meet Alolan Meowth from July 23rd to August 1st; Totodile from August 1st to August 11th and Minccino from August 11th to August 21st.
A cute Jigglypuff wearing a sweet summer hat will also join your staff! Just log in before August 21st and you are golden.
Pokémon UNITE
To celebrate Pokémon UNITE‘s 4th anniversary, Latios and Latias will join the fray! While Latios has already been available for a few days now, Latias will enter the ranks on August 8th. A new type of battle, Electrode Volleyball, will be available starting today!
You can use the gift code UNITE0722 before August 31st to claim a 3-day limited license for Latios, and both a Platinum Latios and Platinum Latias boost emblem. Personally, I would have expected a bit more for an anniversary, but I will be the last person to complain about free goodies.
Pokémon Sleep
A new event has been revealed! This September, you will be able to research the legendary trio Raikou, Entei, and Suicune again. But that’s not all! Get ready for a good sandysnooze in the new area Amber Canyon, releasing later this year!
Pokémon TCG
The newest Pokémon TCG set has been revealed! Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution will release on Friday, September 26th, marking the return of Mega Evolved Pokémon to the trading card game! The trailer shows off the cards for some beloved mega evolved Pokémon as well as the Bulbasaur line, and they look absolutely stunning. Good luck getting your hands on them!
Pokémon Concierge
Moving on from games for a moment, the Pokémon Presents gave us some great news for tv fans. Back in February, it was announced that the stop-motion animated Netflix series Pokémon Concierge will receive new episodes later this year. Now, the official release date has been revealed to be September 4th! You can get a little sneak peek at the story by watching the new official trailer here!
Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu
But Pokémon Concierge is not the only stop-motion animated series in this Pokémon Presents! In late 2024, a collaboration between Pokémon and Aardman, known for animations such as “Wallace & Gromit” or “Shaun The Sheep”, has been announced. Today, we finally got a little look at what’s to come! Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu aired its first official trailer during today’s livestream. This comedy series will take place in the Galar region and will offer a unique look at the Pokémon world, from the perspective of the Pokémon themselves!
The release date is currently set for 2027. That’s quite a long time, so let’s hope they cook up something fun with this one!
PokéPark Kanto
Pokémon Presents also gave us another brief look at the PokéPark KANTO. This park is a location within Japan’s Yomiuriland amusement park and is aiming to be a place where people and Pokémon can have fun together and to feel like a world where Pokémon truly exist.
It will be divided into two areas: a Town in which Pokémon and Trainers gather, and Forest in which Pokémon live and interact with each other. It will open its doors in the spring of 2026.
And That Is All!
These were all the news that we could gather from this Pokémon Presents. I personally can’t wait to see what Pokémon Legends: Z-A will have in stock! What is your favorite announcement from today’s livestream? Did anything stand out? Any complaints? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
