LEGO Fortnite Peely Bone Set Review

Back in July, we covered the exciting news that LEGO and Fortnite were bringing their collab outside of the virtual world and into the hands of brick lovers everywhere. As an avid Fortnite player and LEGO collector these sets made my little gamer’s heart jump for joy. At least that’s what I’m telling myself that’s what those palpitations were. One set in particular immediately went on our must-have list. Ok, ok, one set in particular went to the top of our must-have list. This was of course the LEGO Fortnite Peely Bone set. And thanks to our friends over at LEGO we got our hands on it early!

Fortnite (backstory) build mode

If you’re reading this, we’re going to assume that you know who Peely Bone is. Just in case you don’t, and you’re here simply because you think this LEGO set looks cool (very valid) here’s a little about them. Peely Bone is a character skin available to buy from the Fortnite item shop. Despite looking like a fruit, Peely is actually a half-human half-banana hybrid. Hence the skeleton and organs! Peely Bone was actually launched as a Halloween skin in 2019 and has been a Fortnite icon ever since.

What’s the a-peel?

Now we’ve covered the character history we can get down to business. LEGO business that is. The LEGO Fortnite Peely Bone set was released earlier this month, along with six other cool gaming-related sets. You can read about them all here. LEGO Fortnite Peely Bone itself is a 1414 brick build, all neatly packaged in 15 paper bags. This is an 18+ set not just because of the details but because this is a set designed for collectors. There are essentially no moveable parts, aside from the arms. This set is a statue figure built from LEGO bricks. Which makes sense given the £89.99 price tag too. This is quite a fair price for the set given how big it builds though. With a height of 36cm (14in), width of 15cm (5.5in) and depth of 19cm (7.5in) this is no small collectible.

Wit-Woo

During the build, there were a number of moments where you are reminded that this is indeed a LEGO build. And by that, of course I mean hidden nods and details within the build. The little heart that you put together was only realised when Charlotte stated “It looks like a heart” and it turned out to be exactly that. Along with the whole build being an absolute joy to go through you also had to build a number of accessories. These were Peely’s Pickaxe, with a banana on the end. A Paint Launcher weapon and a Banana Back Bling. All of these add to the model which now sits proud of place on the LEGO Gaming shelves in the office.

A bunch of fun

This build provided the perfect opportunity to try the Build Together feature of the Lego Builder app. We were unsure how the feature would work with a build that seemed to be so one-person-centred. But we ended up pleasantly surprised. With both me and Charlotte sat at the kitchen table working through the build together, we got to work. The Build Together feature was incredible, although at some points we wondered what parts we were building. Only for the app to tell one of us to pass the pieces over to the other to continue adding to the overall model. Even in some instances just handing over a 2 piece part that gets added to a larger section.

Using the Build Together feature was a revelation, even to the point where we have now checked out which other sets we can build using this. This is now our favourite new way to build LEGO sets. Who wouldn’t want to build a set with their significant other?

This build was one of the most enjoyable of all the builds within TC HQ. And believe me, there are a lot of sets here at TC HQ! This is definitely a set I would recommend to people. Especially to gamers and Fortnite fans! Pick up your LEGO Fortnite Peely Bone today over at the LEGO store.
