Building Board Games Together: The LEGO Group and Asmodee Partnership. That’s the strapline from the official press release. It summarises everything rather nicely and yet not quite enough.

Earlier this year the LEGO Group announced a partnership with Asmodee to create a board game called Monkey Palace. It seems this partnership is going well as the companies have entered into a multi-year partnership. What does this mean? It means more LEGO Board games!

Dotted Games has entered the chat.

To cement the partnership The LEGO Group and Asmodee have created a whole new studio that will work solely on the LEGO board games. The name of this studio? Dotted Games! The Dotted Games studio will be based in Denmark with an award winning team at the helm. That’s people who have won awards for their board game innovation. Not people who have just won lots of games. I think.

The perfect family playing together nicely…

By combining Asmodee’s extensive expertise in board games with the limitless potential of the LEGO system, we are unlocking exponential possibilities for innovation in play. This partnership paves the way for future collaborations that will redefine the LEGO building experience within the tabletop landscape, offering fans unique and distinctive play experiences.”

Thomas Koegler, Asmodee Deputy COO added: “Embarking on this exciting journey with the LEGO Group is exciting, combining their timeless creativity with our passion and expertise for games. Together, we aim to build unforgettable experiences that will unite families and friends around the world, one LEGO brick and one shuffle of the deck at a time”

LEGO Board Games a cure for the bored

Originally announced earlier this year, Monkey Palace will be Dotted Games first LEGO Board Game. According to the info released, this will be a jungle-themed game of light strategy for 2-4 players. The aim of the game is to help the monkey rebuild the Monkey Palace. Players must build their way upwards, creating longer and taller staircases to get bricks and banana points. There is no single way to win. In fact each time the board game is played, the building experience and final construction are totally unique and different.

Alongside Monkey Palace, Dotted Games are also developing Brick Like This! A family party game where the key words are teamwork and communication. Whilst building with LEGO bricks obviously. The game is for 2-8 players for ages 7+. But that’s all we know at the moment.

We can’t wait to hear more about these upcoming Board Games. What’s for certain is a Thumb Culture Board Game Night is definitely needed upon their release.
