We’ve got quite the collection of Fantech reviews building in our catalogue and we’ve added one to the roster. We’ve grabbed the Revolver 3 controller to test and compare to other controllers we’ve tried.

You can get the Fantech Revolver 3 here for just £19!

Design / Quality

The Fantech Revolver 3 is available in three colour varients: black, white and grey. When comparing it to next gen controllers, the build and design is closest to a PS5 controller. It’s a solid plastic build with a light up Fantech logo which serves as your bluetooth connection display. It’s a sturdy build and has a decent weight to it which makes ut feel like it is really well made. The design has symmetrical sticks making it perfect for the Playstation fans out there. However, when comparing the Revolver 3 to some of the other controllers that Fantech has released there are better Playstation alternatives. For example, we reviewed the Nova Pro not too long ago. Whillst this controller is £9 more expensive than the Revolver 3 it features the notorious touch pad that feels like it’s missing from the Revolver handheld.

In terms of buttons, the Revolver features two rear paddles that can be fit with any necssary key actions which feel really nice and reactive. However the d-pad feels a bit soft to the touch. I’m really not a fan of the way that it presses. It’s the only part of the controller that let’s the controller down.

A black gaming controller is shown from the back, highlighting its mappable rear paddles with a close-up inset and text pointing to the feature.

One element that I haven’t explored much is the built in motion sensor. Clearly Fantech are pushing the Revolver 3 as far as they can, providing a lot of features for a still-affordable price point.

Personalisation

Fantech knows that players like to make their controller their own and has included a dedicated gamepad software for the Revolver 3. With this software you can fully customise your controller. Make changes to button mapping, stick response curves and trigger sensitivity. You can even go as far as adjusting the vibration sensitivity so it is definitely worth playing around with.

Three overlapping software interface windows show customizable settings for a Fantech gaming controller, featuring mappings and response curves on a gradient background.

Connectivity

The Fantech Revolver 3 works as both a bluetooth and wired controller, boasting a 1000hz connection. After playing with the controller, I definitely prefer the wired connection but the bluetooth also works really well – it’s all just a matter of preference.

A USB-A dongle with a detachable USB-C adapter labeled "REVOLVER III" is shown beneath text reading "Up to 1000 Hz" on a blue gradient background.

The connection was strong and there wasn’t any delay or connectivity issues that I experienced. This controller is very much an unpack, plug and play type controller.

Compatability

Some may see the compatability options for the Revolver 3 as somewhat odd however I have to give Fantech props for continuing to make options for older gen consoles. The Revolver 3 is compatible with the following:

  • Windows 7 or later
  • Nintendo Switch
  • Playstation 3
  • Playstation 4
  • Android

I mainly played on the PS3 during testing as I’ve really been struggling to find a good controller. It worked really well. There was some slight delay to the connection but my Playstation 3 is one of the first models so I’m chalking that up to the sheer age of the machine.

Final Thoughts

For the sturdiness of the controller and the price point that it comes in at, the Fantech Revolver 3 is a solid addition to any gamer’s controller repertoire. Aside from the slight issue I have with the buttons feeling soft, I truly can’t find a single thing to complain about. As a result I’m giving the Fantech Revolver 3 the Thumb Culture Gold Award. It’s a comfy, stylish controller that takes customisation to the next level.
