A Tiny Sticker Tale – Switch Review

A Tiny Sticker Tale is a Casual Puzzle game releasing on the PC and Switch on the 4th October 2023. Developed and published by Ogre Pixel, a six-person indie studio based in México. Combining charming art, cute characters, and a well-realised central sticker mechanic to create a short, though sweet, experience,  A Tiny Sticker Tale is perfect for gamers looking for a cosy time in front of the screen, if a bit short. A Tiny Sticker Tale – A game with a-peel! Ogre Pixel’s latest effort caused a stir on Kickstarter, finding itself fully-funded within two hours! By the end of the campaign, A Tiny Sticker Tale had over 700% of it’s original target, and had found it’s way onto Kickstarter’s “Projects We Love” page. So I was more than interested to take a closer look! Gameplay Our jour...

Paleo Pines – Switch Review

Paleo Pines by Northern Ireland-based devs Italic Pig, is a single-player role-playing game set in a time with cute dinosaurs. Available on console and PC, I have been playing, along with my 6-year-old, on the Nintendo Switch. Roarsome Entertainment? With a nod to elements from Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon and Pokemon, would we find this dino-driven social/management sim as captivating? Let's take a look! Gameplay As with most traditional adventure games you begin by creating your character. Here we have a fairly normal but not over-the-top palette to select from including skin tone, eye colour, hairstyle, etc as well as a selection of clothing. You will notice that to keep inclusivity you cannot set a sex and Italic Pigs have described the character as non-binary. My son being 6 ...

Their first game, Fly Punch Boom!, certainly met that criteria, and with RoboDunk, it seems that record is intact. So, let’s assemble our Dunkball teams and take to the arenas! Gameplay In the future, a great war has scarred the Earth and left only destruction. From the ashes, only one thing remains: the DUNK. With a mixture of humour, drama and surrealism, are you ready to unravel this single-player 3D anime story? This is my truth! While I love a good mystery, I have never really played any recent anime games. I was intrigued to see what I had been missing all these years. With fresh, but older eyes, what would I make of Master Detective Archives: Rain Code? Gameplay Beginning with a cutscene, your character Yuma Kokohead races to board a train that is travelling to a city known as Kanai Ward. Making it just in time you discover that you have amnesia and do not remember exactly who you are or what you are doing. You meet a bunch of...

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Switch Review

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is the latest game in the Zelda series and the much-anticipated sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild (BotW). It is a single-player fantasy open-world RPG developed & published by Nintendo. Having been teased since E3 2019, fans have been chomping at the bit for Tears of the Kingdom (TotK). The game has sold over 10 million copies 3 days after release and even had the knock-on effect of BotW being a top seller again too. There were some strong opinions among players about Tears of the Kingdom being too similar to BotW but I feel fans won't be disappointed. I certainly wasn't as I found TotK is Breath of the Wild cranked up to 11 with its design and mechanics and the return of many familiar faces. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is...

Garden Simulator – Switch Review

Attention all green-fingered and single-player casual gamers! Garden Simulator is out now on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Developed by PRODUKTIVKELLER Studios, who seemingly like to shout their name out loud, it is time to have some fun carrying out virtual gardening. To Plant a Garden is to Believe in Tomorrow While gardening in real life is seen as a fairly chilled-out affair (most of the time), I was intrigued to see how the past time would translate to the digital world. Granted there would be no sweat, dirty hands or knees as well as vicious cuts from pruning roses! Gameplay In a nutshell, the idea of Garden Simulator is to make the most of your patch of land. You have inherited a cabin with a garden in the woods. With only one area unlocked, to begin with. You must ...
