Not Quite Tetris in Name, Not Quite Tetris in Nature Everything from the name and the looks of the game tells you this is going to be something akin to Tetris. But no, not quite. Metroid Prime Remastered – Switch Review

If you’ve never played a game in the Metroid Prime series, it’s likely that your preconceived ideas are wrong. Screenshots suggest a trio of pretty-standard first person shooters, but these games are—true to the design of the wider Metroid series as a whole—metroidvanias through and through, though rendered in a first-person 3D style. They feature the same emphasis on map-reading and exploration and almost identical platforming and action, down to the pacing of the encounters with enemies and the giant bosses. On its original release back in 2003, Metroid Prime was hailed as a masterpiece. And the game was impressive—I remember it vividly—there was something powerful in its all-encompassing atmosphere, and how via a hundred artful details and design choices it made you feel part of ...

Clive ‘N’ Wrench – Switch Review

There are few gaming genres more nostalgic and fondly remembered than 3D platformers. Games like Banjo-Kazooie, Jak & Daxter and Ratchet & Clank were hits with the popular hero/sidekick or dynamic duo formula. For the majority of gamers born pre-2000, these were a huge part of their virtual journeys. And like a cosy comfort blanket, they hold warm memories begging to be revisited. Clive ‘N’ Wrench from Dinosaur Bytes Studio, published by Numskull Games, looks to resurrect those fuzzy platforming memories. And in many ways, indeed it does. But it also revives some memories of 3D platforming that we’d rather forget. In an anthropomorphic animated world, the tyrannical Dr Daucus looks to conquer space and time. To facilitate this, he has stolen Professor Nancy Merricarp’s time trav...

Donut Dodo – Switch Review

Donut Dodo is another excellent addition to the revitalising of 2D platformer's that those who grew up in the 80s were accustomed to. Being a relatively new company that was founded in 2020, Pixel Games already has an impressive resume of 2D arcade adventure games, that focuses on "creating classic, pick up and play, pixel art games for modern consoles." Donut Dodo is available now to buy on steam and switch. Defeat the evil dodo and reclaim your donuts! Donut Dodo is not a game I would typically play, that being because I am unfortunately a millennial, and I did not grow up surrounded by the summers filled of playing on the arcade machines, however, I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by this game. Gameplay You play as the baker Billy Burns, who has to outwit the evil Dodo and his ...

So join me as I jump into the swim lanes to see if Sport & Fun: Swimming sinks or swims. Let's hope it is the latter. Gameplay I honestly had no idea what to expect when it came to Sport & Fun: Swimming. It was safe to say I was going in blind. I had not seen anything surrounding this title, whether that be via email campaigns or by the press sites. I have no idea if this is because I didn't go looking for it, or because it just hasn't been talked about. Sport & Fun: Swimming is an easy...
