FREEDOM WARS Remastered – PS5 Review

Thanks to Bandai Namco, we get to see the return of FREEDOM WARS. Originally released back in 2014 for the PlayStation Vita, it arrives back into your life on consoles and steam. I’ll be checking out the PS5 version for this review and to see how well it runs compared to its handheld counter-part. If you’re looking to try it for the first time, then you can grab it for £32.99. A contribution pack is also available, which will give a few in-game items. Sometimes being alive is crime in its own right. I played FREEDOM WARS on the Vita when it was given away for PS+ a while back. I remember enjoying it and finding the concept interesting. I didn’t get far through it however, as I don’t play portable systems that much. But when I saw that FREEDOM WARS Remastered was releasing, I thought,...

Sniper Elite: Resistance – PS5 Review

From the first cutscene that shows a failed bombing run, Sniper Elite: Resistance proves it doesn't miss the target but hits it. I'm a big fan of the long-range Rebellion-developed World War II combat shooter and always look forward to a new entry where I can pop Nazi skulls like a jelly-filled balloon. The game arrives on the 30th of January 2025 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, and PC with two editions: the regular and deluxe. The deluxe edition includes the season pass, though its content is still unconfirmed. UNABLE TO RESIST(ance) Gameplay Sniper Elite’s bread and butter is of course its 'X-Ray' kill cam, which lets you watch your bullets pass through enemy bodies in gory anatomical detail. It is just as visceral in Sniper Elite: Resistance, with blood spurting like an overactive fount...

Dynasty Warriors: Origins – PS5 Review

I don’t know about you guys but I found Dynasty Warriors 9 terrible with the open-world side of things. But KOEI TECMO seems to have changed their approach with the newest entry to the franchise Dynasty Warriors: Origins. I played the initial demo released prior to launch, and I really enjoyed the gameplay, so here’s hoping the full release is the same! The game has two versions available on PS5. One is the base game (costing £64.99) and the other is the digital deluxe. The deluxe nets you the soundtrack, 72-hour early access, letters, and the official art book. However, it will also set you back £79.99. Warning! Gifs used in this article might contain flashing imagery. Someone has to play mediator to the three kingdoms. I’ve played the Dynasty Warrior franchise since the good old o...

Universe For Sale is a multi award-winning narrative point-and-click adventure from small Italian indie studio Tmesis Studio. Originally released on PC in November 2023, Akupara Games has now extended that to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch. The game is also available on mobile devices via Apple Store and Google Play Store. For the purposes of this review, I've been playing on the PlayStation 5. Drops Of Jupiter In a small colony situated in the clouds of Jupiter lives Lila, a young woman with the amazing gift of being able to conjure universes from mundane ingredients. Universe For Sale explores the story of Lila meeting a mysterious stranger who has an odd fascination with her. The stranger is part of a space-cult in which members sever body parts in order to reach enlightenment. Who is t...

Dog Man: Mission Impawsible – PS5 Review

There have been plenty of movie-to-game adaptations over the years—even game-to-movie. However, book-to-game seems to be a genre rarely experienced. Well developers Floor 84, publishers Mindscape and bestselling author Dav Pilkey have teamed up. They have become the Supa Buddies, well not quite but we'll get onto them soon! They have however released Dog Man: Mission Impawsible. Available across platforms, the game will cost you around £34.99. Woof Woof, Bark, Meow Meow In digital stores now you can pick up Dog Man: Mission Impawsible and dive into the comically adventurous world before the Dog Man movie hits cinemas in February 2025. Gameplay Firing up the game, you are greeted with familiar graphics, especially if you've read any of Dav Pilkey's books. Thankfully the middle child in ...

The Thaumaturge – PS5 Review

The Thaumaturge is a text heavy based isometric role-playing game developed by Fool's Theory and published by 11 Bit Studios. You may have heard about Fool's Theory from previous releases such as The Witcher Remake or being project support for games like Baldur's Gate or Divinity Original Sin 2. The publishers 11 Bit Studios are best known for Frostpunk or Indika which all take a very unique approach to games in general. In The Thaumaturge, we have a slightly familiar but refreshing take on RPG story telling. The game is set during year 1905 in Warsaw, Poland, which was, at the time, a part of Russian Empire. The Thaumaturge adds a drop of fantasy to the realistic set it creates. Thaumaturges can see memories left on things by other people, and influence people's minds, but only to some...

Among Ashes – PS5 Review

In a world of horror big hitters like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, it can be hard to come up with something that reinvents the genre in a way that is successful and even more terrifying than the bigger players in the game. Rat Cliff Games decided that it was time to take the reins with their new first-person horror Among Ashes. When I saw the first trailer for Among Ashes, I initially skipped it. Not because it didn't interest me but because I knew a demo wouldn't be enough. The trailer alone had me instantly hooked and I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Safe to say this game did not disappoint and is easily one of the best games I've played in 2024. You can grab Among Ashes on Steam and PlayStation now! Just keep playing? Easier said than done! Gameplay Uncover the true horr...
