Tomb Raider IV – VI Remastered – PS5 Review

The only thing I wanted after reviewing the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered Trilogy was a remaster of 4-6. Apsyr apparently heard my prayers and have finally remastered the finale of the original Lara plot as well as Angel of Darkness.  Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered brings back The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider 5 and Angel of Darkness to modern consoles. Controversially, Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness is one of my favourite games and Tomb Raider IV was the first game I ever finished on my own so there was a lot of nostalgia wrapped up in these games. When the games were announced I pre-ordered immediately but was it worth it? Or did the remaster not hit the mark the same way these games originally did? I don't count poison darts and triggered entombment your average child's tea party You can...

Turbo Overkill – PS5 Review

Turbo Overkill is an intense retro shooter by Trigger Happy Interactive. Previously only available on PC, thanks to publishing by Apogee Entertainment it is now available on consoles. If you want to grab a PS5 version you can do so for around £16.  If you're looking for your next Doom-esque throwback while awaiting The Dark Ages, then take a moment to read this review. Trust me. The Most Colourfully Lethal Boomer Shooter There have been at least a couple of other Doom-like boomer shooters that have come my way in my time writing for Thumb Culture. Each had its own bit of flair but still not quite as visual of one as Turbo Overkill. The colour palette is nothing less than a striking, modern retro too. Must be that cyberpunk theme I suppose. But check out my thoughts of this pc gone consol...

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 1 – PS5 Review

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 1 is from Don't Nod, the original creators of Life Is Strange. The story unfolds across timelines, with the first placing you firmly in the summer of 1995, when Batman Forever played in cinemas and Oasis headlined Glastonbury. The second takes you to a modern setting in 2022. The developers released the game on 18th February 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and Windows. Nearly 30 years have passed since protagonist Swann Holloway last saw the rest of the friendship group, Bloom & Rage. In the modern-day setting, which shifts to a first-person perspective compared to the past’s third-person view, The mystery begins with a box addressed to the group with no idea who sent it. Tiny Terry’s Turbo Trip – PS5 Review

Terry has finally made his way onto PlayStation in his comical adventure, Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip. Originally released on Steam last year (check out our PC review here), Tiny Terry can now cause chaos on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch as of February 13th 2025. Join me as I explore the wacky world of Spranklewater and help Terry achieve his dream of going to space. Terry Tries To Take-Off Terry wants a car to go to space, so he obviously goes to the Job Application Centre to get one. After accepting a job as a taxi driver, purely for the car of course, Terry can begin his mission. This introduction to some characters of Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip immediately sets the tone for the humour and dialogue of the game. If you ever think you know what direction a conversation is going, you can be...

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – PS5 Review

The original Kingdom Come: Deliverance was released back in 2018. With all the time that has passed since then, how has Warhorse Studios expanded on such an iconic game? Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 sees us carry on Henry's journey of revenge. But how enjoyable is that journey for the player? Let's take a dive into the 15th Century and find out! Gritty, Gruesome, Glorious With a rich open world, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is one of the most detailed RPG's that I've played. But is it a good follow on from the first, or should it have been left? Gameplay Having sold over 2 million copies in 2 weeks, you may believe that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a perfect game. Well, in my opinion it isn't. Not for me anyway. I've been playing for quite a while and I feel that I've not really scratc...

Momodora: Moonlit Farewell – PS5 Review

Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to close the book on the Momodora series of games, with Momodora: Moonlit Farewell. After spanning 5 games and almost 15 years, developer Guilherme Melo Martins aka rdein has decided to conclude the story with this latest entry. It's not often that I pick up a game at the end of a series without having played previous games, but in this case, Moonlit Farewell looked too good for me to pass up. Farewell, Momodora, I Hardly Knew Ye The Black Bell tolls ominously 13 times, beckoning death and darkness. Momo Reinol, high priestess of the village Koho, must track down the bellringer to stop the onslaught of demons. Can she find the malevolent culprit and secure safety for her village and for the precious Lun Tree? Gameplay The Basics A small tut...

Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter – PS5 Review

Following up on the success of Tails of Iron, Manchester based Odd Bug Studio has developed and released a sequel, Tails of Iron 2: Whiskers of Winter.  Published by United Label, it was released on 28th January 2025 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/Series S&X, and Switch. You can read our review of the first game in the series here. Whiskers of Winter by Stuart R.R. Little The story begins with a little history lesson. In the not too distant past, The North had fought a vicious war against the Darkwings, The War of The Rift. Eventually, the warden of Winter's Edge had done enough to win that war, and peace had followed. A long enough peace for the Rats of The North to forget about the Darkwings. Unbeknownst to them, their enemy had been rebuilding strength, and now once a...

Codex Lost – PlayStation 5 Review

Feathers and magic await in Freemana's new souls-like magic game Codex Lost and is currently £19.99 on the PS Store. I was super excited to get a hold of this game, as I've been waiting for someone to make a magic-focused souls-like game. I also like owls quite a bit which is definitely a selling point for this game. This new semi-open world game introduces you to different types of magic and a story of bosses with too much power. Codex Lost  Float like a butterfly, sting like a bird curator with lightning magic I'm a big souls fan so I knew what I was getting myself into when I downloaded Codex Lost, but how well does it run and is it a true souls-like? Gameplay Codex Lost introduces you to the Curator and the story through an opening cutscene. As the chosen Curator, it is up to y...

NINJA GAIDEN 2 Black – PS5 Review

Wow, KOEI TECMO, First Dynasty Warriors and now a stealth drop for NINJA GAIDEN 2 Black. It returns with a new engine and newer, better visuals. Once again, step into the tabi (shoes) of Ryu Hayabusa. As he aims to stop the return of the Great Archfiend at any cost. If you’re looking for a fun and challenging hack & slash game, then you can pick it up on the PSN store for £39.99. A side note for those unaware they did also announce NINJA GAIDEN 4. Warning! This article contains GIFs with flashing images. Those of the Dragon lineage are not so easily forgotten. I have played the franchise NINJA GAIDEN before and specifically this title twice. Once was on PSvita and another time a little more recently with the PS3 Remastered collection. The gameplay is something I enjoy, but the c...
