Pinball FX – PC Review

Pinball FX is a name we have seen quite a bit in the Pinball gaming arena. However, recently Zen Studios have released Pinball FX with a ton of major updates since its previous release. A free-to-play Steam title with the option to add more tables at a cost, the question is - Is it worth it? Bringing An Arcade Classic Game Into The Digital Age I absolutely love a good pinball machine. Luckily I live in an area which has multiple arcades that have them available to play. I have been looking for a Pinball title for some time and always put off downloading Pinball FX. I think deep down I was always worried that it wouldn't live up to expectations. Gameplay Unfortunately, Pinball FX is really lacking in the storyline/narrative area. Thankfully they have focused on what actually makes a goo...

Shardpunk: Verminfall – PC Review

Shardpunk: Verminfall is described by its developer as a "tactical squad-based survival strategy game, based in a steampunk, rat-infested world". Developed by Clockwork Pile and published by Retrovibe Games, Shardpunk: Verminfall is available for PC. It is available now and will set you back £9.99/$11.99 on Steam and will require 3GB of storage. Survival of the Rattest Now, I'll start off the same way the game does, by telling you that Shardpunk: Verminfall is not an easy game. Basically, you're going to die. After that, you'll start the game anew, with new skills and new characters to choose from. Then you'll die again. So on and so forth. I'm sure more competent players will be able to play the game all the way through with fewer restarts than I did. But not many will complete it wi...

Cassette Beasts – PC Review

Originally announced in October 2021, today sees the release of the Creature Collector-JRPG Cassette Beasts, developed by UK-based Bytten Studio, and published by Sweden-based Raw Fury. Cassette Beasts is available today for Steam and Windows, and will be released on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and the Nintendo Switch in late Spring 2023. Today we will be looking at the PC version, which will cost £16.75/$19.99 or can be played via PC Game Pass and will require 2GB of space. Gotta Record 'em All? Now, if there is one thing I'm certain of, it's that this game will no doubt have "Pokémon clone" thrown around alongside it. And while yes, it is a creature-collecting, monster-battling, turn-based JRPG, I feel like calling it a Pokémon clone would be doing it a disservice. Of course, there...

Oni: Road to be the Mightiest Oni – PC Review

Oni: Road to be the Mightiest Oni is the latest game from game developers Kenei Design & Shueisha Games. They are a team of five who had the goal of creating a small but feature-rich world full of character and adventure. The game was released on 3rd March 2023 on all platforms after two years of development. Eeny Meeny Miney Oni Oni: Road to be the Mightiest Oni is a game steeped in Chinese culture and nostalgia. The developers' goal was to make players feel as if they had jumped into the pages of a childhood picture book. I have to admit I like the look and feel of the game from its dark treelines and the muted colours of the foreground glades contrasted somewhat by the bright and vivid distant mountains. Are there any other games you enjoy with a similar style and feel to this one...

EA Sports PGA Tour – PC Review

EA Sports have returned! Well they haven't really returned, but they have removed Rory and left behind Tiger. It's now the age of EA Sports PGA Tour. Yes it's a mouthful, but it works. Recently released, we managed to take to the course and on the first tee. EA Sports PGA Tour, Fore the Golfers! How are you finding EA Sports PGA Tour? Do you have a favourite course, and why is it Augusta? Let us know in the comments. Gameplay As with any golf game, the main focus for me is how the game feels to play. Golf as a game is all about the connection from backswing through the transition to downswing. So how does EA Sports PGA Tour handle that feeling? Actually really well. With EA's new Purestrike system, it brings a more fluid system to your golf swing. Incorporating 20 shot types with fluid...

Hunt The Night – PC Review

Creators at Moonlight Games and publishers DANGEN Entertainment have created a beautiful 2-D pixel Gothic-styled game. That mixes fast gameplay with a dark fantasy world filled with danger and mystery. If you love the Castlevania aesthetic with a dash of Bloodborne. Then players should check out Hunt The Night when it drops on April 13th of this year from Steam. The night calls out. What pulled me in with Hunt The Night was the boss designs in the screenshots, they are stunning, and I'm hoping this is consistent throughout the game. I'm a sucker for dark fantasy worlds, especially when going against huge monstrosities created for twisted rituals or unlocking forbidden knowledge. Gameplay Players will explore Medhram as Vesper, a young, quiet girl raised in a group known as The Stal...
