Currently Playing: Forbidden Siren

I've been on a real horror kick recently, from books to films and especially games. When I (finally) realised that Forbidden Siren was available from the Playstation Plus catalogue and I've been slowly making my way through the game ever since. The game came out in 2003 so I feel like I don't need to put a spoiler warning... but I'm going to just in case! How difficult can a game from 2003 really be? Apparently, really really hard! I very very vaguely remembered playing Forbidden Siren a long time ago when it was at its height of release. Back then it was too scary for me and I hadn't turned into a horror fan so getting the chance to revisit was super exciting. I couldn't really remember anything about this game aside from its super odd graphics where the faces kind of morph between what...

December On PlayStation Week 2

December on PlayStation rolls into our second week! It is a quiet week, but with a few standout games that remind me of my childhood!! I made my choices, and here they are. Among Ashes (PS5) - December 9th It's the year 2001 and your friend has sent you a link to a game that someone posted online, but as you play you quickly realise that something is terribly wrong. There's a dark presence in this game, and it wants to get out. As you fight nightmarish monsters and solve mind-bending puzzles, the lines between the game and the real world will fade away. Will you survive the night? Whatever you do… KEEP PLAYING Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered (PS5, PS4) – December 10th 25 years ago, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver introduced the world to the vampire Raziel. In the gam...

Currently Playing – Curse of the Dead Gods

In the past couple of weeks, when I've found myself with a short amount of time for gaming, I've returned to a comforting, familiar place. That place is Curse of the Dead Gods. Time and time again over the years since I reviewed the game for release, I've returned to the cursed temple to take on it's remaining challenges and edge ever close to the coveted Platinum trophy. The Game That Sparked A Fire Curse of the Dead Gods was the first roguelike that I ever played, I'd not paid the genre any mind previously. The art direction looked great, and the combat seemed crunchy and quick, so I picked it up for review. I was instantly hooked on the premise of starting with very little power, progressing little by little through a gauntlet, and gradually upgrading various aspects to try different ...

Currently Playing – Metaphor: ReFantazio

The main game taking up a lot of my time is Metaphor: Refantazio, which came out this October. I’ve enjoyed it so far, although outside of review games, I have only played Persona 5. JRPGs are something I enjoy, but usually when it’s turn-based, it’s a little hard for me to really get stuck in. The story of Metaphor: Refantazio is both simplistic and complicated, which I don’t mind. It’s a typical "try to change the world for the better by finding like-minded individuals" game. The way they go about dealing with harsh topics is interesting with the game dealing with Classism and Racial Bias. I still haven’t gotten used to how the calendar system works, which frustrates me at times. Such as dedicating days to help build bonds and then some for grinding out levels for my archetypes....

Currently Playing – Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix

Please be aware this article contains gifs that may include flashing lights and patterns. I am a Fortnite Noob. At least when it comes to playing the game. I have watched people play it and loved every minute. I am also that not at all annoying person yelling I can see someone running, whilst my partner sprints about the map escaping storm after storm. Having never been much good at dual stick gaming for accessibility reasons, I never thought I'd get to enjoy the game first-hand. My only previous dalliance with the game was when my partner and I decided to stream us playing it together. Even then I found much more joy in driving off in golf carts then aiming for that precious Victory Crown. And then Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix came about. A short sweet season that changed everything. December on PlayStation – Week 1

December on PlayStation aka the Christmas Countdown starts here! We have a strange selection of games this week, many fun and diverse, and even one featuring a Sharpshooting Space Frog. Let's hope I can get on the Editor's nice list with these three titles. Entropy Survivors (PS5) – December 3rd A sword-wielding mech. A sharpshooting space frog. Control both characters simultaneously against the forces of Entropy in this bullet heaven roguelike. Though your defeat may come swiftly (and often), you’ll bring these two unlikely heroes home using nothing but the unstoppable power of friendship (and an arsenal of mind-blowing cartoon weapons)!"Survive the forces of Entropy solo or with friends to save the universe! A sword-wielding mech. A sharpshooting space frog. Control both characters si...

November on PlayStation – Week 4

November on PlayStation is closing out, but hey at least we're that step closer to the festive season! December is on the horizon and we still have some nice titles launching before the years out. Looking back over 2024 what has been your favourite title? Let me know in the comment section below. Neon Blood (PS5, PS4) – November 26th In 2053, humanity lives in Viridis, a sprawling acropolis divided into two starkly contrasting cities. Bright City is an opulent haven of skyscrapers and advanced technology for the elite, while Blind City is a desolate area with crumbling infrastructure, where the underprivileged struggle for survival amidst rampant inequality.
