Toy Shop Tidy Up – PC Review

You’ve probably noticed an influx of game centred around tidying up a particular theme of items. Well, that is exactly what Shiftmoon’s newest game is exactly, but this time it is a toy store. So if that has piqued your interest then you can grab Toy Shop Tidy Up now on the Steam store for £4.59, not bad.

The Gundam looking ones look cool.

A large mound of toys of various size and colours. Some notably are humanoid looking figures right in front, one is green and the other is white with a green rope wrapped around it.
Wow, that is a lot

Gameplay

We spawn in and shortly after a large amount of different toys drop down from above. I was a little taken aback by the sheer amount of toys, but began sorting and stocking them straight away. This is all there really is to Toy Shop Tidy Up, grab a handful of toys and sort them in their respective zones. One area is for cute plushies, while another is for cool mechs and dragons. When done filling out an area, you will be given one additional slot to your carrying capacity. This will provide efficiency to the ongoing cleaning. It would have been nice to see some upgrades in the game beyond the one slot they give, but oh well.

A large area dedicated to dragons, with the player holding a green one with gold accent on the spine. Some other variants are seen around the area in other colours and poses.
Every toy has its own place.

Graphics & Audio

Toy Shop Tidy Up looks simply fantastic. The colour palette overall looks amazing; easy on the eyes, pops of colour at every turn, and brilliant glowing effects on certain toys, such as the swords. Speaking of which, I did love the designs of the mech toys, swords and dragon toys. The dragon toys also blink, which was a very fun little detail. Overall though, I loved the mix of both cool action toys and super adorable, almost Jellycat like toys. Despite the sheer amount of toys, details, physics and lighting, I only suffered one small bug. Something managed to send me up in the air and I clipped through the ceiling, but strangely I saw a bunch of books in that out of bound area floating around in a circle. The music is also quite fun, going between a mix of quirky and upbeat to relaxed, lofi style beats.

A large void that is coloured beige, with several books floating around. The player is holding a blue sword with runes patterned over the blade.
A random find.

Longevity

Total run time for Toy Shop Tidy Up was just a little under 4 hours, after you get rid of the larger toys the game doesn’t feel that long. There are 10 achievements, but you will collect all of these naturally as you play.

Final Thoughts

As far as games go for killing time Toy Shop Tidy up isn’t too bad. The game runs smooth, and the only glitch I had was more of a fun one, where I launched through the ceiling and noticed some flying books. Besides not being able to oddly find one plush – if it clipped through the floor, who knows – I finished the game. So it really depends if the restocking and organizing toys is your kinda thing, but overall not bad. Here’s the Thumb Culture Silver Award.
