Train Sim World 5 is constantly getting new DLC packs added. Just take a look at all the ones I’ve reviewed! Improving the amount of track that you can cover. All while giving you more trains to drive. In this article, we’re going to take a look at a couple of the latest packs to let you know just how this amazingly immersive game is expanding.
Track Your Success
Now I’m not a train spotter, but working on the railway for the last 15 years gives me an appreciation for these incredible machines. So let’s check out our first pack in the Train Sim World 5 DLC.
Cardiff City Network – 18th March 2025
Starting off in South Wales, you embark on Cardiff’s city network, which features over 20 stations, each accurately modelled. These include stations such as Radyr, Coryton, Penarth, and Cardiff Bay.
This pack was a great addition to the game. Bringing a different route as well as some new trains. Even having the Transport for Wales livery. Head out onto the stations in the free roam mode and help find the hidden secrets.

Keep an eye out for those leeks!
London Overground Mildmay Line – 4th March 2025
Heading from one capital city to another. This time it’s England’s turn. This Train Sim World 5 DLC takes in the Mildmay line. Taking in stations from Stratford to Willesden Junction.
Being an official Transport For London licensed product, you can be assured that the stations are incredibly accurate. Not only that, but the running stock included, the BR Class 278/2 Capitalstar, is wearing the London Overground’s original livery. Included in the DLC are 5 engaging scenarios, along with an authentic commuter timetable. The Docklands Light Railway makes an appearance, but unfortunately as an AI-Only B07 rolling stock.

West Somerset Railway – 20th August 2024
It was released a little while ago and is only being mentioned because it is a requirement for the Thomas & Friends pack. The West Somerset Railway DLC opens up one of the most scenic routes in the country. Stations from Norten Fitzwarren through to Minehead are lovingly recreated in full 3D.
Having lived and worked in Somerset for a number of years, this pack was incredible. Going through rolling hills and through the green fields of Somerset. Taking in both the scenery as well as the incredibly quaint stations. My favourite thing to do is to look at Google Maps and compare the stations in the game to real life. This is what makes this Train Sim World 5 DLC one of the best out there. To be fair, they are all pretty good.
With some epic rolling stock such as the BR Mk1 coaches in chocolate and cream, as well as crimson and cream liveries. This brings an authenticity that just makes me smile each and every time I head down the tracks.

Graphics & Audio
All the above DLC have been lovingly created in Unreal Engine 4. Giving an accuracy in both the trains and stations. Don’t get me wrong, the Stations are a bit less impressive than the trains. But then I guess the trains do have a lot more detailing!
Rolling down the tracks and popping into an external camera just to see the environments is often a joy. With recognisable landmarks in abundance. Making your time with any of the Train Sim World 5 DLC an absolute joy.
The audio in all the DLCs is great. With announcements on the stations, all in their local accents. As well as the lovely chugging sound of the trains. All builds up the enjoyment and immersion throughout your Train Sim World 5 journey.

Longevity
How do you quantify an unknown amount of time? Genuinely, the time you can spend on these DLC is endless. Even just going from station to station finding the collectables will take you a large number of hours. The best thing that you can do is just take some time out and enjoy each and every pack that Dovetail Games releases.
Final Thoughts
I think it’s obvious how I feel about the Train Sim World 5 DLC. With a large amount of new stations and rolling stock to get to grips with. It increased the already impressive train network within Train Sim World 5. Giving you more areas to explore, and even more options of trains.
The Train Sim World 5 DLC packs all get a loving Thumb Culture Platinum Award.
