This Ain’t Even Poker, Ya Joker is an Auto Clicker, Strategy  game from Mash. The game is basically Cookie Clicker with Poker. And less Grandmas aiming to take over the world. The game allows you set it and forget it, but there are a few bugs to it. We’ll go over more about it in the Graphics and Audio portion. Also, because this doesn’t have much to go off on this might be one of my shortest reviews.

Did you know that the odds of getting a royal flush is 649,739 to 1?

Gameplay

This Ain’t Even Poker, Ya Joker has you meeting with a Jester, who is holding you hostage. Saying you’ll need to make 1 billion coins in order to release you. You start off with one card and will need to earn coins to unlock more cards to make a hand. The coins can be used to either increase your cards or in the upgrade tree. Which once you get to 1 billion coins, ends up being that the Jester was a liar. WHAT A TWIST?!

You do come across a fairy who is more than happy to help you, but there is a catch. You’ll need to see your entire set up to get poker chips to use on the other upgrade tree. Which you can only access every time you sell the money-generating set to the fairy. I should also mention that the fairy is asking for 250 poker chips which are not easy to get. So it’s mostly a lather, rinse, repeat kind of factory that got running here.

Graphics and Audio

So, the graphics of the is mostly low-poly 3-d surfaces from the cards to the objects around us. There are moments when the fairy or jester speak, it’s in a pixel art style. I did enjoy the fact that the cards we can get have special backgrounds. Which makes it easy for anyone to tell the rarity once you understand the logic behind it. There’s even the interactable objects once you unlock the upgrade to look below your money making setup.

Now the audio is pretty good in a Carnival setting, but that fact that it’s the only music in the game is exhausting. Not even the actual Jack-in-the-box helped with hear the same thing for hours on end. Which is understand since it’s a kind of game you just start, walk away and come back later to use the money you make.

Longevity

Honestly, the game can be completed in about 24 hours if you are lucky and plan accordingly. I might have been able to beat if faster, but there were moments when the a rouge pixel come out. Which then tears up the screen and I can’t see anything. Causing me to have to save and quit several times until I just stopped for the day because of this issue.

The weird part is, this isn’t even it’s final form!!!

Final Thoughts

The was an enjoyable experience in the first half, but because of bugs and my hard drive sounding like a engine because of this one game. Even with the many issues I was dealing with, I still had some fun. Hopefully, they fix these issues and maybe add a few more things to the game after beating it. But, that’s just my opinion.
